12 Upon this Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou release this man, thou art not a friend to Cesar. Whosoever maketh himself a king, opposeth Cesar.

Luke 23:2-5
2 And they accused him saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cesar, saying, that he himself is Christ a king.

4 And he answering him said, Thou sayest. Then said Pilate to the chief priests and the multitude, I find no fault in this man.

33 Then Pilate returned into the palace, and called Jesus, and said to him, Art thou the king of the Jews?
34 Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this of thyself? or did others tell it thee of me?
35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thy own nation, even the chief priests, have delivered thee to me.
36 What hast thou done? Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have fought, that I might not be delivered to the Jews: but my kingdom is not from hence.

26 And he hoped also that money would have been given him by Paul to release him; therefore he sent for him the oftner, and discoursed with him.
27 But after two years, Felix was succeeded by Portius Festus: and Felix desiring to gratify the Jews, left Paul bound.
