¹⁵ For if ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers; for I have begotten you in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

⁴ And he discoursed in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and Greeks. ⁵ And when Silas and Timothy were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in spirit, and testified to the Jews, that Jesus was the Christ. ⁶ But when they set themselves in opposition and blasphemed, he shook his raiment and said to them, Your blood is upon your own head; I am pure: from henceforth I will go to the Gentiles. ⁷ And going thence, he went into the house of one named Justus, one that worshiped God, whose house was adjoining to the synagogue. ⁸ And Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized. ⁹ Then the Lord said to Paul by a vision, in the night, Fear not, but speak and hold not thy peace: ¹⁰ For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee; for I have much people in this city. ¹¹ And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

²⁰ But I have striven, so to preach the gospel, not where Christ had been named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation.

⁶ I planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

¹⁰ According to the grace of God given to me, as a wise master-builder I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon; but let every one take heed how he buildeth thereon.

¹ Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? ² Are not ye my work in the Lord? If I am not an apostle to others, yet I am to you; for ye are the seal of my apostleship.

¹² If others partake of this power over you, do not we rather? Yet we have not used this power: but we suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

¹⁴ So also hath the Lord ordained, that they who preach the gospel, should live of the gospel.

¹⁸ What then is my reward? that when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

²³ And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I may be partaker thereof with you.

¹ Do we again begin to recommend ourselves? Unless we need, as some do, recommendatory letters to you, or recommendatory letters from you? ² Ye are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by all men: ³ Manifestly declared to be the letter of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not in tables of stone, but in the fleshly tables of the heart.

¹⁹ My little children, of whom I travail in birth again, till Christ be formed in you,

³ For the time will come, when they will not endure sound doctrine, but will heap to themselves teachers, according to their own desires, having itching ears.

⁴ To Titus my own son after the common faith, grace, mercy, peace from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

¹⁰ I beseech thee for my son, whom I have begotten in my bonds, Onesimus, Who was formerly unprofitable to thee, ¹¹ but now profitable to thee and me, Whom I have sent again: ¹² thou therefore receive him, that is my own bowels:

¹⁹ I Paul have written with my own hand; I will repay it; not to say unto thee, that thou owest also thyself to me besides.

¹⁸ Of his own will begat he us by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

²³ Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God which liveth and abideth for ever.
