Thus did Job continually. ⁶ Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. ⁷ And the LORD said to Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down upon it. ⁸ And the LORD said to Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and shunneth evil?

²⁸ And to man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

¹³ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogance, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

⁴¹ But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and behold, all things are clean to you.

² Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh away; and every branch that beareth fruit, he cleaneth it, that it my bring forth more fruit.

⁹ And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

¹ Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
