And he stretched it out; and it was restored to a sound state like the other. ¹⁴ Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. ¹⁵ But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all. ¹⁶ And charged them that they should not make him known: ¹⁷ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, ¹⁸ Behold, my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall show judgment to the Gentiles. ¹⁹ He shall not contend, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. ²⁰ A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he shall send forth judgment to victory. ²¹ And in his name shall the Gentiles trust. ²² Then was brought to him one possessed with a demon, blind and dumb; and he healed him, so that the blind and dumb both spoke and saw. ²³ And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? ²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This man doth not cast out demons, but by Beelzebub the prince of the demons. ²⁵ And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself, is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself, shall not stand. ²⁶ And if Satan casteth out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand? ²⁷ And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your children expel them? therefore they shall be your judges. ²⁸ But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come to you. ²⁹ Or else, how can one enter into a strong man's house, and seize his goods, except he shall first bind the strong man? and then he will plunder his house. ³⁰ He that is not with me, is against me; and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth abroad. ³¹ Wherefore I say to you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven to men. ³² And whoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whoever speaketh against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. ³³ Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by its fruit. ³⁴ O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. ³⁵ A good man, out of the good treasure of the heart, bringeth forth good things: and an evil man, out of the evil treasure, bringeth forth evil things. ³⁶ But I say to you, That for every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account in the day of judgment. ³⁷ For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. ³⁸ Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. ³⁹ But he answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh for a sign, and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. ⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly: so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. ⁴¹ The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here. ⁴² The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. ⁴³ When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and he findeth none. ⁴⁴ Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. ⁴⁵ Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also to this wicked generation. ⁴⁶ While he was yet speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. ⁴⁷ Then one said to him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. ⁴⁸ But he answered and said to him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? ⁴⁹ And he stretched forth his hand towards his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! ⁵⁰ For whoever shall do the will of my Father who is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

²⁵ When thou comest into the standing-corn of thy neighbor, then thou mayest pluck the ears with thy hand: but thou shalt not move a sickle to thy neighbor's standing-corn.

¹ And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through corn-fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and ate, rubbing them in their hands. ² And certain of the Pharisees said to them, Why do ye that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath-days? ³ And Jesus answering them, said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was hungry, and they who were with him; ⁴ How he went into the house of God, and took and ate the show-bread, and gave also to them that were with him, which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone? ⁵ And he said to them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

⁹ Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: ¹⁰ But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: ¹¹ For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath-day, and hallowed it.

¹² Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thy ox and thy ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed.

¹⁵ Six days may work be done, but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whoever doeth any work in the sabbath-day, he shall surely be put to death. ¹⁶ Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. ¹⁷ It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.

² Six days shall work be done; but on the seventh day there shall be to you a holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whoever doth work therein shall be put to death.

³² And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath-day. ³³ And they that found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation. ³⁴ And they put him in custody, because it was not declared what should be done to him. ³⁵ And the LORD said to Moses, The man shall surely be put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. ³⁶ And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.

¹³ If thou shalt turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shalt honor him, not doing thy own ways, nor finding thy own pleasure, nor speaking thy own words:

¹⁰ And behold, there was a man who had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath? that they might accuse him.

² And they watched him, to see whether he would heal him on the sabbath; that they might accuse him. ³ And he saith to the man who had the withered hand, Stand forth. ⁴ And he saith to them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? but they held their peace. ⁵ And when he had looked around on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith to the man, Stretch forth thy hand. ⁶ And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue, and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered: ⁷ And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the sabbath; that they might find an accusation against him. ⁸ But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man who had the withered hand, Rise, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose, and stood forth. ⁹ Then said Jesus to them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath-days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it? ¹⁰ And looking around upon them all, he said to the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other. ¹¹ And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

¹⁰ And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. ¹¹ And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise raise herself. ¹² And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said to her, Woman, thou art loosed from thy infirmity. ¹³ And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. ¹⁴ And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, and said to the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath. ¹⁵ The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? ¹⁶ And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, to be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath? ¹⁷ And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

³ And Jesus answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath?

⁵⁶ And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested on the sabbath, according to the commandment.

⁹ And immediately the man was healed, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. ¹⁰ The Jews therefore said to him that was cured, it is the sabbath; it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. ¹¹ He answered them, He that healed me, the same said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

¹⁶ And therefore the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath. ¹⁷ But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

²¹ Jesus answered and said to them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel. ²² Moses therefore gave to you circumcision, (not because it is from Moses, but from the fathers) and ye on the sabbath circumcise a man. ²³ If a man on the sabbath receiveth circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have restored a man to sound health on the sabbath? ²⁴ Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

¹⁴ And it was the sabbath when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. ¹⁵ Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said to them, He put clay upon my eyes, and I washed, and do see. ¹⁶ Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not from God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

³ Now therefore what is under thy hand? give me five loaves of bread in my hand, or what there is present. ⁴ And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under my hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women. ⁵ And David answered the priest, and said to him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yes, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel. ⁶ So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the show-bread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.

⁵ Or have ye not read in the law, that on the sabbath the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

⁴ And he answered and said to them, Have ye not read, that he who made them, at the beginning made them male and female,

¹⁶ And said to him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith to them, Yes: have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

³¹ But as concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,

²⁵ And he said to them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, he and they that were with him? ²⁶ How he went into the house of God, in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the show-bread, which it is not lawful to eat, but for the priests, and gave also to them who were with him?

²⁶ And concerning the dead that they rise; have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spoke to him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

³ And Jesus answering them, said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was hungry, and they who were with him;

²⁶ He said to him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

³⁰ And thou shalt set upon the table show-bread before me always.

³² And Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram, and the bread that is in the basket, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. ³³ And they shall eat those things with which the atonement was made, to consecrate and to sanctify them: but a stranger shall not eat of them, because they are holy.

³¹ And Moses said to Aaron and to his sons, Boil the flesh at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation; and there eat it with the bread that is in the basket of consecrations, as I commanded, saying, Aaron and his sons shall eat it.

⁵ And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes of it: two tenth-parts shall be in one cake. ⁶ And thou shalt set them in two rows, six in a row, upon the pure table before the LORD. ⁷ And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire to the LORD. ⁸ Every sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant. ⁹ And it shall be Aaron's and his sons'; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy to him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire by a perpetual statute.

⁹ And on the sabbath-day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth-parts of flour for a meat-offering, mingled with oil, and its drink-offering. ¹⁰ This is the burnt-offering of every sabbath, besides the continual burnt-offering, and his drink-offering.

¹⁷ Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said to them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day?

²¹ Speak to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellence of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. ²⁰ Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? ²¹ But he spoke of the temple of his body.

²⁰ And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone; ²¹ In whom all the building fitly framed together, groweth to a holy temple in the Lord: ²² In whom ye also are built together, for a habitation of God through the Spirit.

⁹ For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

⁴ To whom coming as to a living stone, disallowed indeed by men, but chosen by God, and precious, ⁵ Ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

³ Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.

²¹ They assemble themselves against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

³¹ For he will stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.

¹⁵ He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.

¹¹ To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt-offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he-goats. ¹² When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? ¹³ Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination to me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot endure; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. ¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble to me; I am weary to bear them. ¹⁵ And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you: yes, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. ¹⁶ Wash ye, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil; ¹⁷ Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

⁶ For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice: and the knowledge of God more than burnt-offerings.

⁶ Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt-offerings, with calves of a year old? ⁷ Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? ⁸ He hath shown thee, O man, what is good; and what the LORD doth require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

¹³ But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

²⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

²⁷ For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the words of the prophets which are read every sabbath, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

⁶ Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

²⁰ And Jesus saith to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

⁶ But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick with the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go to thy house.

²⁸ Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

⁴ And there appeared to them Elijah, with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. ⁵ And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. ⁶ For he knew not what to say: for they were greatly terrified. ⁷ And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

⁵ And he said to them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

¹⁷ But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. ¹⁸ Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. ¹⁹ Then answered Jesus, and said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, The Son can do nothing by himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for whatever things he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. ²⁰ For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and he will show him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. ²¹ For as the Father raiseth the dead, and reviveth them; even so the Son reviveth whom he will. ²² For the Father judgeth no man; but hath committed all judgment to the Son: ²³ That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son, honoreth not the Father who hath sent him.

²¹ To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

² Upon the first day of the week, let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no collections when I come.

And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it to him again. ⁵ The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD. ⁶ And the king answered and said to the man of God, Entreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king's hand was restored to him again, and became as it was before.

⁶ For the vile person will speak villainy, and his heart will work iniquity, to practice hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD, to make empty the soul of the hungry; and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

⁴ None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

¹³ In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.

¹⁷ Woe to the idle shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be wholly dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.

² But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, Behold, thy disciples do that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath.

³ The Pharisees also came to him, tempting him, and saying to him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

¹⁷ Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute to Cesar, or not? ¹⁸ But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?

⁶ And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue, and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered: ⁷ And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the sabbath; that they might find an accusation against him.

⁵⁴ Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something from his mouth, that they might accuse him.

¹⁴ And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, and said to the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath.

³ And Jesus answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath? ⁴ And they held their peace. And he took him and healed him, and let him go; ⁵ And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not forthwith pull him out on the sabbath? ⁶ And they could not answer him again to these things.

²² Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Cesar, or not?

² And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cesar, saying, that he himself is Christ a king.

¹⁴ Said to them, Ye have brought this man to me, as one that perverteth the people: and behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man, touching those things of which ye accuse him;

³ In these lay a great multitude of impotent persons, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

¹⁰ The Jews therefore said to him that was cured, it is the sabbath; it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

⁶ This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

¹⁶ Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not from God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

⁴ If thou shalt meet thy enemy's ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again. ⁵ If thou shalt see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.

⁴ Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again.

⁵ And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not forthwith pull him out on the sabbath?

²⁶ Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

³¹ Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

⁴ And he saith to them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? but they held their peace.

⁹ Then said Jesus to them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath-days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

²⁴ Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap: which neither have store-house, nor barn; and God feedeth them: How much more are ye better than the fowls?

¹³ And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

⁷ And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. ⁸ And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

⁴ And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.

¹ When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.

⁶ And the Pharisees went forth, and immediately took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

¹¹ And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

¹⁸ Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

³⁹ Therefore they sought again to take him; but he escaped from their hand,

⁵³ Then from that day forth they took counsel together to put him to death.

⁵⁷ Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he was, he should show it, that they might take him.

²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness, and all manner of disease among the people. ²⁴ And his fame spread throughout all Syria: and they brought to him all sick people that were taken with diverse diseases and torments, and those who were possessed with demons, and those who were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. ²⁵ And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judea, and from beyond Jordan.

²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say to you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel till the Son of man shall have come.

² And great multitudes followed him, and he healed them there.

⁷ But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judea. ⁸ And from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came to him. ⁹ And he spoke to his disciples, that a small boat should wait on him, because of the multitude, lest they should throng him. ¹⁰ For he had healed many; so that they pressed upon him to touch him, as many as had diseases. ¹¹ And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God. ¹² And he strictly charged them, that they should not make him known.

⁵⁶ And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch, if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him, were healed.

¹² And it came to pass in those days, that he went out to a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

¹⁷ And he came down with them, and stood in the plain; and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the sea-coast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; ¹⁸ And they that were afflicted with unclean spirits: and they were healed. ¹⁹ And the whole multitude sought to touch him; for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

¹ After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

⁴ I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh when no man can work.

⁴⁰ And went again beyond Jordan, into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode. ⁴¹ And many resorted to him, and said, John performed no miracle; but all things that John spoke of this man were true. ⁴² And many believed on him there.

⁵⁴ Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence to a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.

⁹ And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

²¹ For even to this were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

⁴ And Jesus saith to him, See thou tell no man; but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.

³⁰ And their eyes were opened; and Jesus strictly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.

⁹ And as they were descending the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be raised again from the dead.

³⁶ And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them; so much the more a great deal they published it;

¹⁴ And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded for a testimony to them. ¹⁵ But so much the more a fame of him went abroad: and great multitudes came together to hear and to be healed by him of their infirmities.

²² Let them bring them forth, and show us what shall happen: let them show the former things, what they are that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare to us things to come. ²³ Show the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yes, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

¹ Behold my servant, whom I uphold; my elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. ² He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. ³ A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment to truth. ⁴ He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he hath set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

⁹ Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

²⁶ That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up her decayed places:

¹⁷ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, He himself took our infirmities, and bore our sicknesses.

³⁵ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

⁴ All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,

²² For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

⁴⁴ And he said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

³⁵ If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

³⁸ That the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

²⁸ After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

¹⁹ (89:18)For the LORD is our defense; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.

² And the spirit of the LORD will rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

¹⁵ Until the spirit shall be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness shall be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be counted for a forest. ¹⁶ Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.

¹ Behold my servant, whom I uphold; my elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

¹ Listen to me, O Isles; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. ² And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shade of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me; ³ And said to me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

⁵ And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength. ⁶ And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldst be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation to the end of the earth.

¹³ Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.

¹¹ He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

²⁰ And the Redeemer will come to Zion, and to them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD. ²¹ As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.

² For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD will arise upon thee, and his glory will be seen upon thee. ³ And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to publish good tidings to the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; ² To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; ³ To appoint to them that mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.

² And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.

¹⁹ O LORD, my strength and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come to thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things in which there is no profit.

⁸ Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.

¹⁶ And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up immediately out of the water: and lo, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: ¹⁷ And lo, a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

⁵ While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: hear ye him.

¹¹ And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

⁷ And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

³¹ Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; ³² A light to enlighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

²² And the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

¹⁸ The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

³⁵ And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

³⁵ And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he is Christ the chosen of God.

³² And John bore testimony, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. ³³ And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said to me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and remaining on him, the same is he who baptizeth with the Holy Spirit. ³⁴ And I saw and bore testimony, that this is the Son of God.

³⁴ For he whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for to him God giveth not the Spirit by measure.

³⁸ That God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him.

¹⁸ When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance to life.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas became bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you: but seeing ye reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. ⁴⁷ For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldst be for salvation to the ends of the earth. ⁴⁸ And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life, believed.

²⁷ And when they had come, and had assembled the church, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and that he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

¹⁷ Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, to whom now I send thee, ¹⁸ To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them who are sanctified by faith that is in me.

⁹ And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing to thy name. ¹⁰ And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. ¹¹ And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people. ¹² And again Isaiah saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

⁶ To the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he hath made us accepted in the beloved:

¹¹ Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; ¹² That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: ¹³ But now, in Christ Jesus, ye, who formerly were far off, are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

⁵ Which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it is now revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; ⁶ That the Gentiles should be joint-heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the Gospel: ⁷ Of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effectual working of his power. ⁸ To me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

⁶ Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: ⁷ But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

¹ Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

¹³ Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his beloved Son:

⁴ To whom coming as to a living stone, disallowed indeed by men, but chosen by God, and precious,

¹⁷ For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh to thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me: for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest to your souls.

²⁰ And when he was asked by the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation.

³⁶ Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. ³⁷ Pilate therefore said to him, Art thou a King then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a King. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. ³⁸ Pilate saith to him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and saith to them, I find in him no fault.

¹ Now I Paul myself beseech you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold towards you:

²⁴ And the servant of the Lord must not contend; but be gentle to all men, apt to teach, patient, ²⁵ In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God perhaps will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth:

²¹ Now behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man leaneth, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust on him.

¹⁷ (51:15)O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall show forth thy praise.

¹ A Psalm. O sing to the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvelous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. ² The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shown in the sight of the heathen. ³ He hath remembered his mercy and his truth towards the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

³ He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

¹¹ He will feed his flock like a shepherd: he will gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and will gently lead those that are with young.

¹⁵ For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

³¹ For the Lord will not cast off for ever: ³² But though he causeth grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies. ³³ For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men. ³⁴ To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,

¹⁶ I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.

²⁸ Come to me, all ye that labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

¹⁷ I have therefore cause for glorying through Jesus Christ, in those things which pertain to God. ¹⁸ For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, ¹⁹ Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and around to Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

⁷ So that on the other hand, ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such one should be swallowed up with excessive sorrow.

¹⁴ Now thanks be to God, who always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savor of his knowledge by us in every place.

³ For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh: ⁴ (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) ⁵ Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

¹² Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; ¹³ And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

² And I saw, and behold, a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given to him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

¹¹ And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. ¹² His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. ¹³ And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called, The Word of God. ¹⁴ And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. ¹⁵ And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the wine-press of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. ¹⁶ And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. ¹⁷ And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come, and assemble yourselves to the supper of the great God; ¹⁸ That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. ¹⁹ And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, assembled to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. ²⁰ And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshiped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. ²¹ And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceedeth out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

¹⁰ And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

⁴ He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he hath set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

¹² And again Isaiah saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust. ¹³ Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

¹² That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. ¹³ In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

²⁷ To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

¹⁵ (51:13)Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted to thee.

¹⁸ And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

³ And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken. ⁴ The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.

⁵ Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. ⁶ Then shall the lame man leap as a hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

²⁴ And his fame spread throughout all Syria: and they brought to him all sick people that were taken with diverse diseases and torments, and those who were possessed with demons, and those who were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

³² As thy went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a demon. ³³ And when the demon was cast out, the dumb spoke: and the multitudes marveled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel. ³⁴ But the Pharisees said, He casteth out demons, through the prince of the demons.

¹¹ And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.

³⁵ And immediately his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plain. ³⁶ And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them; so much the more a great deal they published it; ³⁷ And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well; he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

¹⁷ And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought to thee my son, who hath a dumb spirit; ¹⁸ And wherever he taketh him, he teareth him; and he foameth and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away; and I spoke to thy disciples that they should cast him out, and they could not. ¹⁹ He answered him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you, how long shall I suffer you? bring him to me. ²⁰ And they brought him to him: and when he saw him, immediately the spirit tore him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed, foaming. ²¹ And he asked his father, How long is it since this came to him? and he said, From a child. ²² And often it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. ²³ Jesus said to him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. ²⁴ And immediately the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou my unbelief. ²⁵ When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying to him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. ²⁶ And the spirit cried, and rent him severely, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; so that many said, He is dead.

¹⁴ And he was casting out a demon, and it was dumb. And it came to pass when the demon was gone out, the dumb spoke; and the people wondered. ¹⁵ But some of them said, He casteth out demons through Beelzebub, the chief of the demons.

¹⁸ To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them who are sanctified by faith that is in me.

²⁷ And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us.

³³ And when the demon was cast out, the dumb spoke: and the multitudes marveled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

²² And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same territories, and cried to him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously afflicted with a demon.

³⁰ And great multitudes came to him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: ³¹ So that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

⁹ And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

⁴² Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say to him, The son of David. ⁴³ He saith to them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

²⁹ Come, see a man who hath told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

⁴⁰ Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, In truth this is the Prophet. ⁴¹ Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Will Christ come out of Galilee? ⁴² Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh from the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

³⁴ But the Pharisees said, He casteth out demons, through the prince of the demons.

²² And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem, said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the demons he casteth out demons.

¹⁵ But some of them said, He casteth out demons through Beelzebub, the chief of the demons.

² Thou knowest my down-sitting and my up rising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

²¹ Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

² And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbor; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom. ³ And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst of her, and I will destroy her counsel: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.

¹⁰ I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

¹³ For lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth to man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.

⁴ And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, Why think ye evil in your hearts?

⁸ And immediately, when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said to them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

²³ And he called them to him, and said to them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? ²⁴ And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. ²⁵ And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. ²⁶ And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. ²⁷ No man can enter into a strong man's house, and seize his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will plunder his house.

¹⁷ But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. ¹⁸ If Satan also is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out demons through Beelzebub. ¹⁹ And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. ²⁰ But if I with the finger of God cast out demons, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. ²¹ When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: ²² But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divideth his spoils.

²⁴ But Jesus did not commit himself to them, because he knew all men. ²⁵ And needed not that any should testify concerning man: for he knew what was in man.

¹⁷ He saith to him the third time, Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved, because he said to him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith to him, Feed my sheep.

¹¹ For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

¹⁵ But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one by another.

¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he who searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give to every one of you according to your works.

¹⁹ And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give to her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

¹⁶ And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. ¹⁷ For God hath put in their hearts to fulfill his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

¹⁰ Then saith Jesus to him, Be gone, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

³¹ Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

³⁰ Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

¹¹ Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

⁴ In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine to them.

¹⁹ And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

¹¹ And they had a king over them, who is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew language is Abaddon, but in the Greek language he hath his name Apollyon.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out upon the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

¹⁰ And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,

² And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years. ³ And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled; and after that he must be loosed a little season.

³⁸ And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name, and he followeth not us; and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. ³⁹ But Jesus said, Forbid him not; for there is no man who shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.

⁴⁹ And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. ⁵⁰ And Jesus said to him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us, is for us.

¹⁹ And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.

²² And he saith to him, Out of thy own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest me to be an austere man, taking up what I laid not down, and reaping what I did not sow:

¹³ Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them who had evil spirits, the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. ¹⁴ And there were seven sons of one Sceva a Jew, and chief of the priests, who did so. ¹⁵ And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? ¹⁶ And the man in whom the evil spirit was, leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever things the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

⁶ For to us a child is born, to us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

⁴⁴ And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

¹⁴ And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

¹⁸ Behold, my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall show judgment to the Gentiles.

³¹ Which of the two did the will of his father? They say to him, The first. Jesus saith to them, Verily I say to you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

⁴³ Therefore I say to you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it.

¹⁵ And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

¹⁰ Blessed be the kingdom of our Father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

¹⁷ And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak in new languages;

³² He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David. ³³ And he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.

² And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

¹¹ Even the very dust of your city which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding, be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh to you.

²⁰ But if I with the finger of God cast out demons, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

¹⁶ The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

²⁰ And when he was asked by the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation. ²¹ Neither will they say, Lo here! or lo there! for behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

²⁸ Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and godly fear.

²⁴ Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?

¹² Therefore I will divide to him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul to death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

²⁷ No man can enter into a strong man's house, and seize his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will plunder his house.

⁸ He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

⁴ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

⁷ And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, ⁸ And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. ⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out upon the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. ¹⁰ And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night.

¹ And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

⁷ And when the thousand years have expired, Satan shall be loosed from his prison, ⁸ And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. ⁹ And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and encompassed the camp of the saints, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

¹⁰ The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh shall come: and to him shall be the gathering of the people.

¹⁷ And David went out to meet them, and answered and said to them, If ye have come peaceably to me to help me, my heart shall be knit to you: but if ye have come to betray me to my enemies, seeing there is no wrong in my hands, the God of our fathers look on it, and rebuke it. ¹⁸ Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be to thee, and peace be to thy helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

¹¹ Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be assembled, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up from the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

²⁴ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

⁴⁰ For he that is not against us, is on our part.

⁵⁰ And Jesus said to him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us, is for us.

²³ He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.

⁵² And not for that nation only, but that also he should assemble in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.

¹⁵ And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? ¹⁶ And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

¹⁵ I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. ¹⁶ So then, because thou art luke-warm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit thee out of my mouth:

¹⁸ Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be white as snow, though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return to the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

¹¹ Say to them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked should turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

³¹ Wherefore I say to you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven to men. ³² And whoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whoever speaketh against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

²⁸ Verily I say to you, All sins shall be forgiven to the sons of men, and any blasphemies with which they shall blaspheme: ²⁹ But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit never hath forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: ³⁰ Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

¹⁰ And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but to him that blasphemeth against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven.

⁵¹ Ye stiff-necked, and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do ye.

¹³ Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief: ¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

⁴ For it is impossible for those who have been once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit.

²⁶ For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

²⁹ Of how much more severe punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, by which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite to the Spirit of grace?

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

¹ My little children, these things I write to you, that ye sin not. And if any man sinneth, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: ² And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

¹⁶ If any man shall see his brother sin a sin which is not to death, he shall ask, and he will give him life for them that sin not to death. There is a sin to death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

¹³ But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.

¹⁹ The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a man gluttonous, and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified by her children.

³¹ Wherefore I say to you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven to men.

⁵⁵ Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

²⁹ But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit never hath forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

³⁰ But he shall receive a hundred-fold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come, eternal life.

³⁴ The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold, a gluttonous man, and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners.

²³ And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. ²⁴ And he cried, and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue: for I am tormented in this flame. ²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy life-time receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. ²⁶ And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they who would pass from hence to you, cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

³⁴ And Jesus answering, said to them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: ³⁵ But they who shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage.

³⁴ Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them: for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

¹² And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, No; but he deceiveth the people.

³⁹ (But this he spoke of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive, for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

⁵² They answered and said to him, Art thou also from Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

¹⁴ But ye denied the Holy One, and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted to you, ¹⁵ And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; of which we are witnesses.

¹⁹ Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord,

⁹ I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. ¹⁰ Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them. ¹¹ And I punished them often in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.

²¹ Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

¹³ Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief:

¹⁵ This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

¹² Teaching us, that denying ungodliness, and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and piously, in this present world;

⁴ For it is impossible for those who have been once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit. ⁵ And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, ⁶ If they shall fall away, to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

²⁶ For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, ²⁷ But a certain fearful apprehension of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. ²⁸ He that despised Moses' law, died without mercy under two or three witnesses: ²⁹ Of how much more severe punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, by which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite to the Spirit of grace?

³¹ Cast away from you all your transgressions, by which ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

¹⁵ Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: ⁹ And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham for our father: for I say to you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. ¹⁰ And now also the ax is laid to the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

¹⁶ Ye shall know them by their fruits: Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles: ¹⁷ Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. ¹⁸ A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. ¹⁹ Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. ²⁰ Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them,

²⁶ Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

⁹ And now also the ax is laid to the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

⁴³ For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. ⁴⁴ For every tree is known by its own fruit: for from thorns men do not gather figs, nor from a bramble bush do they gather grapes.

³⁹ And the Lord said to him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. ⁴⁰ Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without, make that which is within also?

⁴ Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine: no more can ye, except ye abide in me. ⁵ I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. ⁶ If a man abideth not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered: and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. ⁷ If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye may ask what ye will, and it shall be done to you.

¹² Can the fig-tree, my brethren, bear olive-berries? or a vine, figs? so no fountain can yield both salt water and fresh.

⁸ Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners, and purify your hearts, ye double-minded.

³³ Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

⁴⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of his heart, bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart, bringeth forth that which is evil: for from the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

⁴⁴ Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do: he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

¹⁰ As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: ¹¹ There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh God. ¹² They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. ¹³ Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: ¹⁴ Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.

²⁹ Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace to the hearers.

⁵ Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire from hell. ⁷ For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of animals in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind: ⁸ But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

¹⁰ In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. ³¹ The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

²⁰ The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. ²¹ The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

⁶ The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

¹⁷ He that speaketh truth showeth forth righteousness: but a false witness, deceit. ¹⁸ There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health. ¹⁹ The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

⁴ A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness in it is a breach in the spirit.

²³ A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good it is!

²⁸ The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

²¹ The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. ²² Understanding is a well-spring of life to him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly. ²³ The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.

¹¹ A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. ¹² As an ear-ring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

³⁴ O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.

⁵² Then said he to them, Therefore every scribe who is instructed to the kingdom of heaven, is like a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

⁶ Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

¹⁴ For God will bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it is good, or whether it is evil.

¹⁶ In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

⁴ And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. ⁵ Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ; ⁶ Not with eye-service, as men-pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

¹² And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works.

³ He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? ²² Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? ²³ And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. ²⁴ Ye see then that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. ²⁵ Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? ⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh for a sign; and there shall no sign been to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them, and departed.

²⁹ And when the people were assembled in crowds, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet.

¹⁸ Then answered the Jews, and said to him, What sign showest thou to us, seeing that thou doest these things?

⁴⁸ Then said Jesus to him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

³⁰ They said therefore to him, What sign showest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

²² For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek wisdom:

³ But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the lewd.

⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh for a sign; and there shall no sign been to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them, and departed.

³⁸ Whoever therefore shall be ashamed of me, and of my words, in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also will the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

²⁹ And when the people were assembled in crowds, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet. ³⁰ For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also shall the Son of man be to this generation. ³¹ The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth, to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. ³² The men of Nineveh shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here.

⁴ Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

⁹ (63:8)My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

²¹ From that time forth Jesus began to show to his disciples, that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

²³ And they will kill him, and the third day he will be raised again: And they were exceedingly grieved.

⁴⁰ And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou art the Son of God, come down from the cross.

⁶³ Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. ⁶⁴ Command therefore that the sepulcher be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say to the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error will be worse than the first.

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

¹⁷ No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from me, saith the LORD.

¹¹ And the LORD said to me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.

⁵¹ Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thy abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters in all thy abominations which thou hast done. ⁵² Thou also, who hast judged thy sisters, bear thy own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou: yes, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters.

² Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.

⁵ So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. ⁶ For word came to the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. ⁷ And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: ⁸ But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God: yes, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. ⁹ Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? ¹⁰ And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do to them; and he did it not.

⁶ But I say to you, that in this place is one greater than the temple.

¹⁷ Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.

³⁶ Verily I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation.

³¹ He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.

¹² Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, and his children, and his cattle?

⁵³ Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? ⁵⁴ Jesus answered, If I honor myself, my honor is nothing: it is my Father that honoreth me, of whom ye say, that he is your God: ⁵⁵ Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I should be a liar like you: but I know him, and keep his saying. ⁵⁶ Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. ⁵⁷ Then said the Jews to him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? ⁵⁸ Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Before Abraham was, I am.

²⁷ And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfilleth the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?

⁵ And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were afterwards to be spoken. ⁶ But Christ as a son over his own house: whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence, and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.

⁷ By faith Noah, being warned by God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

⁹ Give therefore to thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

¹² Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there hath been none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like to thee.

²⁸ And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

²⁹ And God gave Solomon great wisdom and understanding, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea-shore.

³⁴ And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.

¹ And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard questions. ² And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bore spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and when she had come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart. ³ And Solomon told her all her questions: there was not any thing hid from the king, which he told her not. ⁴ And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon's wisdom, and the house that he had built, ⁵ And the provisions of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cup-bearers, and his ascent by which he went up to the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her. ⁶ And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in my own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom. ⁷ Howbeit, I believed not the words, until I came, and my eyes had seen it: and behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame which I heard. ⁸ Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, who stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom. ⁹ Blessed be the LORD thy God, who delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel: because the LORD loved Israel for ever, therefore he made thee king, to do judgment and justice. ¹⁰ And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices a very great quantity, and precious stones: there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon. ¹¹ And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees, and precious stones. ¹² And the king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of the LORD, and for the king's house, harps also and psalteries for singers: there came no such almug-trees, nor have they been seen to this day. ¹³ And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, besides that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants.

²⁴ And all the earth sought to Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

¹ And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bore spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she had come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart. ² And Solomon told her all her questions: and there was nothing hid from Solomon which he told her not. ³ And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built, ⁴ And the provisions of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel; his cup-bearers also, and their apparel; and his ascent by which he went up into the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her. ⁵ And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in my own land of thy acts, and of thy wisdom: ⁶ Yet, I believed not their words, until I came, and my eyes had seen it: and behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told to me: for thou exceedest the fame that I heard. ⁷ Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, who stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom. ⁸ Blessed be the LORD thy God, who delighted in thee to set thee on his throne, to be king for the LORD thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore he made thee king over them, to do judgment and justice. ⁹ And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices great abundance, and precious stones: neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon. ¹⁰ And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, brought algum trees and precious stones. ¹¹ And the king made of the algum trees terraces to the house of the LORD, and to the king's palace, and harps and psalteries for singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah. ¹² And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, besides that which she had brought to the king. So she turned, and went away to her own land, she and her servants.

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

¹⁷ And lo, a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

⁴¹ The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here.

¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

¹⁸ No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

²⁷ And he arose, and went: and behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, ²⁸ Was returning; and sitting in his chariot, read Isaiah the prophet.

² Hath in these last days spoken to us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; ³ Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself made purification of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; ⁴ Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

⁶ Then shall the lame man leap as a hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. ⁷ And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

¹⁸ I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

⁸ Then said he to me, These waters issue out towards the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed. ⁹ And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh. ¹⁰ And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from En-gedi even to En-eglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, very numerous. ¹¹ But its miry places and its marshes shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt. ¹² And by the river upon its bank, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for food, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall its fruit be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to its months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and its fruit shall be for food, and its leaf for medicine.

²⁹ And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

⁷ And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. ⁸ (For he said to him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.) ⁹ And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. ¹⁰ And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. ¹¹ Now there was there nigh to the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. ¹² And all the demons besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. ¹³ And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea (they were about two thousand) and were choked in the sea.

²⁸ When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee torment me not. ²⁹ (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For often it had caught him, and he was kept bound with chains, and in fetters: and he broke the bands, and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.) ³⁰ And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many demons had entered into him. ³¹ And they besought him, that he would not command them to go out into the deep. ³² And there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

²⁴ When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest: and finding none, he saith, I will return to my house whence I came out. ²⁵ And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. ²⁶ Then he goeth and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

¹³ Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

¹¹ (81:10)I am the LORD thy God who brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. ¹² (81:11)But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would not obey me.

⁶ For they have made ready their heart like an oven, while they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.

²⁹ Or else, how can one enter into a strong man's house, and seize his goods, except he shall first bind the strong man? and then he will plunder his house.

²⁰ But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and immediately with joy receiveth it; ²¹ Yet he hath not root in himself, but endureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, forthwith he is offended. ²² He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

⁶ This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bore what was put in it.

² And supper being ended (the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;)

²⁷ And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus to him, What thou doest, do quickly.

¹ But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, ² And kept back part of the price, (his wife also being privy to it) and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. ³ But Peter said, Ananias, Why hath Satan filled thy heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

¹⁸ And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, ¹⁹ Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit. ²⁰ But Peter said to him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. ²¹ Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. ²² Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thy heart may be forgiven thee. ²³ For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

¹⁹ For there must be also heresies among you, that they who are approved may be made manifest among you.

² In which in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

⁹ Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan, with all power, and signs, and lying wonders, ¹⁰ And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And for this cause God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: ¹² That they all may be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

⁴ He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, from which cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, ⁵ Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing gain to be godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

⁹ But they that will be rich, fall into temptation, and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some have coveted, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

⁴ For certain men have crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁵ I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

³ And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. ⁴ And they worshiped the dragon which gave power to the beast: and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like the beast? who is able to make war with him?

⁸ And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. ⁹ If any man hath an ear, let him hear.

²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This man doth not cast out demons, but by Beelzebub the prince of the demons.

³⁸ But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. ³⁹ And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. ⁴⁰ When therefore the Lord of the vineyard cometh, what will he do to those husbandmen? ⁴¹ They say to him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard to other husbandmen, who will render him the fruits in their seasons. ⁴² Jesus saith to them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes? ⁴³ Therefore I say to you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it. ⁴⁴ And whoever shall fall on this stone, shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

¹⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him two-fold more the child of hell than yourselves.

²⁴ Ye blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel.

³² Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. ³³ Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? ³⁴ Wherefore behold, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel, to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Verily I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation. ³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them who are sent to thee, how often would I have gathered thy children, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! ³⁸ Behold, your house is left to you desolate. ³⁹ For I say to you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

⁹ And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

⁹ Now when Jesus was risen early, the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven demons.

²⁶ Then he goeth and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

⁴⁹ Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will slay and persecute: ⁵⁰ That the blood of all the prophets, which hath been shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; ⁵¹ From the blood of Abel to the blood of Zacharias, who perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say to you, It shall be required of this generation.

⁴¹ And when he had come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, ⁴² Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong to thy peace! but now they are hid from thy eyes. ⁴³ For the days shall come upon thee, that thy enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and encompass thee, and keep thee in on every side, ⁴⁴ And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee: and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another: because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. ²³ He that hateth me, hateth my Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no other man hath done, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen, and hated both me and my Father.

⁸ (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) to this day. ⁹ And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling-block, and a recompense to them: ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back always.

¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: ¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

⁴ For it is impossible for those who have been once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit. ⁵ And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, ⁶ If they shall fall away, to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. ⁷ For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh often upon it, and bringeth forth herbs fit for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: ⁸ But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh to cursing; whose end is to be burned.

²⁶ For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, ²⁷ But a certain fearful apprehension of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. ²⁸ He that despised Moses' law, died without mercy under two or three witnesses: ²⁹ Of how much more severe punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, by which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite to the Spirit of grace? ³⁰ For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth to me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord will judge his people. ³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

³⁹ But we are not of them who draw back to perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

¹⁴ Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: they have a heart exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: ¹⁵ Who have forsaken the right way, and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; ¹⁶ But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice, forbad the madness of the prophet. ¹⁷ These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. ¹⁸ For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that had quite escaped from them who live in error. ¹⁹ While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for by whom a man is overcome, by the same is he brought into bondage. ²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. ²¹ For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. ²² But it hath happened to them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and, The sow that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.

¹⁶ If any man shall see his brother sin a sin which is not to death, he shall ask, and he will give him life for them that sin not to death. There is a sin to death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. ¹⁷ All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not to death.

¹⁰ But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. ¹¹ Woe to them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and run greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. ¹² These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about by winds; withered autumnal trees, without fruit, twice dead, plucked out by the roots; ¹³ Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was in this manner: When his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child by the Holy Spirit.

¹¹ And when they had come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshiped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented to him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

¹³ And when they had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. ¹⁴ When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:

²⁰ Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead who sought the young child's life. ²¹ No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up, taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.

³¹ There came then his brethren and his mother, and standing without, they sent to him, calling him. ³² And the multitude sat about him, and they said to him, Behold, thy mother, and thy brethren without seek for thee. ³³ And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? ³⁴ And he looked around on them who sat about him, and said, Behold, my mother and my brethren! ³⁵ For whoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Judas, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

⁴³ And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

³³ And Joseph and his mother marveled at those things which were spoken concerning him.

⁴⁸ And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said to him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

⁵¹ And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

¹⁰ And he said, To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

¹⁹ Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come near to him for the crowd. ²⁰ And it was told to him by certain, who said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee. ²¹ And he answered and said to them, My mother and my brethren are these who hear the word of God, and do it.

¹ And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there.

⁵ His mother saith to the servants, Whatever he saith to you, do it.

¹² After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples; and they continued there not many days.

³ His brethren therefore said to him, Depart hence, and go into Judea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.

⁵ (For neither did his brethren believe in him.)

¹⁰ But when his brethren had gone up, then he went also to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

²⁵ Now there stood by the cross of Jesus, his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

¹⁴ These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

⁵ Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

¹⁹ But I saw no other of the apostles, save James the Lord's brother.

⁹ Who said to his father and to his mother, I have not seen him, neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor know his own children: for they have observed thy word, and kept thy covenant.

³⁷ He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.

³² And the multitude sat about him, and they said to him, Behold, thy mother, and thy brethren without seek for thee. ³³ And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?

⁴⁹ And he said to them, How is it that ye sought me? knew ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

⁵² And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

³ And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith to him, They have no wine. ⁴ Jesus saith to her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? my hour is not yet come.

¹⁶ Wherefore henceforth we know no man according to the flesh: though indeed we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now henceforth we know him no more.

⁷ And go quickly, and tell his disciples, that he is risen from the dead, and behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

³⁴ And he looked around on them who sat about him, and said, Behold, my mother and my brethren!

⁸ For I have given to them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. ⁹ I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them whom thou hast given to me; for they are thine.

²⁰ Neither pray I for these alone; but for them also who shall believe on me through their word.

¹⁷ Jesus saith to her, Touch me not: for I have not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God. ¹⁸ Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things to her. ¹⁹ Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith to them, Peace be to you. ²⁰ And when he had so said, he showed to them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad when they saw the Lord.

²² (22:21)Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.

⁹ Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; thou hast ravished my heart with one of thy eyes, with one chain of thy neck. ¹⁰ How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thy ointments than all spices!

¹² A garden inclosed is my sister, my spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed.

¹ I have come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh, with my spice; I have eaten my honey-comb with my honey; I have drank my wine with my milk: eat, O friends; drink, yes, drink abundantly, O beloved. ² I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.

²⁰ Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them, ²¹ Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.

⁴⁰ And the king will answer and say to them, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me.

⁴⁵ Then will he answer them, saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

¹⁰ Then said Jesus to them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren, that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

³⁵ For whoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

²¹ And he answered and said to them, My mother and my brethren are these who hear the word of God, and do it.

²⁷ And it came to pass, as he was speaking these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said to him, Blessed is the womb that bore thee, and the paps which nourished thee. ²⁸ But he said, Yes, rather blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

²⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

⁴⁰ And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

¹⁴ Ye are my friends, if ye do whatever I command you.

²⁶ When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith to his mother, Woman, behold thy son! ²⁷ Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.

¹⁷ Jesus saith to her, Touch me not: for I have not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God.

²² For Moses truly said to the fathers, A Prophet will the Lord your God raise up to you, of your brethren, like me; him shall ye hear in all things, whatever he shall say to you. ²³ And it shall come to pass, that every soul who will not hear that Prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

³⁰ And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? ³¹ And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

³⁰ And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

²⁰ But showed first to them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

²⁹ For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the first-born among many brethren.

² For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

⁶ For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

¹⁵ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; ²⁶ That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, ²⁷ That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

¹¹ Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

² The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

¹¹ For both he that sanctifieth, and they who are sanctified, are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, ¹² Saying, I will declare thy name to my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise to thee. ¹³ And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold, I, and the children which God hath given me. ¹⁴ Since then the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; ¹⁵ And deliver them, who, through fear of death, were all their life-time subject to bondage. ¹⁶ For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. ¹⁷ Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like his brethren; that he might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

⁹ And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation to all them that obey him;

²¹ Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the ingrafted word, which is able to save your souls. ²² But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

² That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

¹⁷ And the world passeth away, and the lust of it: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

²³ And this is his commandment; That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. ²⁴ And he that keepeth his commandments, dwelleth in him, and he in him. And by this we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

¹⁴ Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
