¹⁴ And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,

¹ Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. ² And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. ³ And he said to them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staffs, nor bag, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. ⁴ And into whatever house ye enter, there abide, and thence depart. ⁵ And whoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. ⁶ And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.

¹ After these things, the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city, and place, whither he himself would come. ² Therefore said he to them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest. ³ Go: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. ⁴ Carry neither purse, nor sack, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. ⁵ And into whatever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. ⁶ And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. ⁷ And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. ⁸ And into whatever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. ⁹ And heal the sick that are therein, and say to them, The kingdom of God is come nigh to you. ¹⁰ But into whatever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go out into the streets of the same, and say, ¹¹ Even the very dust of your city which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding, be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh to you.

⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

¹⁶ Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

⁸ But ye shall receive power after the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses to me, both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.

²⁴ And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show which of these two thou hast chosen, ²⁵ That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.
