¹⁴ And they buried him in his own sepulchers which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odors and divers kinds of spices prepared by the apothecaries' art: and they made a very great burning for him.

³¹ The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath, (for that sabbath was a great day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

³⁹ And there came also Nicodemus (who at the first came to Jesus by night) and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pound weight. ⁴⁰ Then they took the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen cloths, with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

⁵ Then I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: ⁶ His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in color to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. ⁷ And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision: but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. ⁸ Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. ⁹ Yet I heard the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then I was in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.

¹² Then said he to me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thy heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.

³ His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow.

⁴⁹ But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out. ⁵⁰ (For they all saw him, and were troubled.) And immediately he talked with them, and saith to them, Be of good cheer: It is I; be not afraid.

¹⁵ And immediately all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him, saluted him.

¹² And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

²⁹ And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. ³⁰ And the angel said to her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.

⁹ And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead. ¹⁰ And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.

³⁴ And they will mock him, and will scourge him, and will spit upon him, and will kill him: and the third day he will rise again.

⁴⁶ And said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. ²⁰ Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? ²¹ But he spoke of the temple of his body. ²² When therefore he had risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this to them: and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had spoken.

¹⁹ And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. ²⁰ Many of the Jews then read this title: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.

²² Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved by God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: ²³ Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

¹⁰ Be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you sound.

³⁸ That God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him. ³⁹ And we are witnesses of all things which he did, both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree. ⁴⁰ Him God raised the third day, and showed him openly;

¹⁰ Then said Jesus to them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren, that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

¹ After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias: and in this manner did he show himself.

⁷ So that on the other hand, ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such one should be swallowed up with excessive sorrow.

²⁹ Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins and take my staff in thy hand, and go thy way: and if thou shalt meet any man, salute him not; and if any shall salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child.

⁶ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

²⁰ Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice: and ye will be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. ²¹ A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. ²² And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

¹⁸ Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things to her.

⁹ And Moses spoke so to the children of Israel: but they hearkened not to Moses, by reason of anguish of spirit, and cruel bondage.

¹⁶ If I had called, and he had answered me; yet I would not believe that he had hearkened to my voice.

¹⁹ He answered him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you, how long shall I suffer you? bring him to me.

³¹ And he said to him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one shall rise from the dead.

²⁵ The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

¹¹ And the LORD said to Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shown among them?

⁸ Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: ⁹ When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. ¹⁰ Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: ¹¹ To whom I swore in my wrath, that they should not enter into my rest.

²⁰ Then he began to upbraid the cities in which most of his mighty works had been done, because they repented not.

¹⁶ And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? ¹⁷ Do ye not yet understand, that whatever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

⁸ Which when Jesus perceived, he said to them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? ⁹ Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? ¹⁰ Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? ¹¹ How is it that ye do not understand that I spoke not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

²⁰ And Jesus said to them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say to you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard-seed, ye shall say to this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you.

¹⁸ And he saith to them, Are ye so void of understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him.

¹⁷ And when Jesus knew it, he saith to them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened? ¹⁸ Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

¹¹ And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen by her, believed not. ¹² After that, he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking and going into the country. ¹³ And they went and told it to the residue: neither believed they them.

²⁵ Then he said to them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!

³⁶ And as they were thus speaking, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith to them, Peace be to you. ³⁷ But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. ³⁸ And he said to them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. ⁴⁰ And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet. ⁴¹ And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said to them, Have ye here any thing for food? ⁴² And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and a honey-comb. ⁴³ And he took it, and ate before them.

¹⁹ Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith to them, Peace be to you. ²⁰ And when he had so said, he showed to them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad when they saw the Lord.

²⁷ Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless, but believing.

⁷ Wherefore (as the Holy Spirit saith, To-day if ye will hear his voice, ⁸ Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

¹⁵ While it is said, To-day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. ¹⁶ For some, when they had heard, did provoke: yet, not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. ¹⁷ But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? ¹⁸ And to whom did he swear that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? ¹⁹ So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

¹⁰ Sing to the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is in it; the isles, and their inhabitants. ¹¹ Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. ¹² Let them give glory to the LORD, and declare his praise in the isles.

²² Look to me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

⁶ And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldst be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation to the end of the earth.

¹⁰ The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations: and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

¹ Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. ² For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD will arise upon thee, and his glory will be seen upon thee. ³ And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

⁵ These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and enter ye not into any city of the Samaritans. ⁶ But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

¹⁹ Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁰ And the gospel must first be published among all nations.

¹⁰ And the angel said to them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people. ¹¹ For to you is born this day, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

³¹ Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; ³² A light to enlighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

²¹ So that servant came, and showed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry, said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. ²² And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. ²³ And the lord said to the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ And ye are witnesses of these things.

¹⁶ Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

²¹ Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be to you: as my Father hath sent me, even so I send you.

⁸ But ye shall receive power after the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses to me, both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.

¹⁸ But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.

²⁶ But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

¹⁷ And came and preached peace to you who were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

⁶ Which is come to you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

²³ If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which hath been preached to every creature which is under heaven; of which I Paul am made a minister;

¹⁴ And we have seen and do testify, that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

⁶ And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and language, and people,

¹⁵ And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

¹² Those by the way side, are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

¹² But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: ¹³ Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

⁵ Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say to thee, Except a man be born of water, and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

¹⁵ That whoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.

¹⁸ He that believeth on him, is not condemned: but he that believeth not, is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God. ¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men have loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

³⁶ He that believeth on the Son, hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son, shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

²⁴ Verily, verily, I say to you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but hath passed from death to life.

²⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

³⁵ And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me, shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me, shall never thirst.

⁴⁰ And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

³⁷ In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirsteth, let him come to me, and drink. ³⁸ He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

²⁴ I said therefore to you, that ye will die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye will die in your sins.

²⁵ Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: ²⁶ And whoever liveth, and believeth in me, shall never die. Believest thou this?

⁴⁶ I am come a light into the world, that whoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. ⁴⁷ And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. ⁴⁸ He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

³¹ But these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye may have life through his name.

³⁸ Then Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

⁴¹ Then they that gladly received his word, were baptized: and the same day there were added to them about three thousand souls.

³⁶ And as they went on their way, they came to a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? ³⁷ And Philip said, If thou believest with all thy heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. ³⁸ And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. ³⁹ And when they had come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

⁴³ To him give all the prophets testimony, that through his name whoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

³⁹ And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas became bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you: but seeing ye reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

³⁰ And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? ³¹ And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. ³² And they spoke to him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

¹⁶ And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

⁶ By no means: for then how shall God judge the world?

²⁴ But for us also, to whom it will be imputed, if we believe on him that raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,

⁹ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thy heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. ¹⁰ For with the heart man believeth to righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made to salvation. ¹¹ For the scripture saith, whoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. ¹² For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all, is rich to all that call upon him, ¹³ For whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. ¹⁴ How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

⁸ In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

¹² That they all may be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

³⁸ Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man shall draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. ³⁹ But we are not of them who draw back to perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

²¹ Who by him do believe in God, that raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

²¹ The like figure to which, even baptism, doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience towards God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

¹⁰ He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God, hath made him a liar, because he hath not believed the testimony that God gave of his Son. ¹¹ And this is the testimony, that God hath given to us eternal life: and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that hath the Son, hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God, hath not life. ¹³ These things have I written to you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

¹⁵ And whoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

⁸ But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and lewd men, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

³⁸ And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name, and he followeth not us; and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.

¹⁷ And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us through thy name.

¹² Verily, verily, I say to you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to my Father.

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance. ⁵ And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. ⁶ Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because every man heard them speak in his own language. ⁷ And they were all amazed, and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these who speak Galileans? ⁸ And how do we hear every man in our own language, wherein we were born? ⁹ Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, ¹⁰ Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and Proselytes, ¹¹ Cretes and Arabians we hear them speak in our languages the wonderful works of God.

³³ Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

¹⁶ There came also a multitude out of the cities around to Jerusalem, bringing sick persons, and them who were afflicted with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

⁷ For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

⁴⁶ For they heard them speak in languages and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

¹⁸ And this she did many days. But Paul being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

⁶ And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spoke in languages, and prophesied.

¹² So that from his body were brought to the sick, handkerchiefs, or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. ¹³ Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them who had evil spirits, the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. ¹⁴ And there were seven sons of one Sceva a Jew, and chief of the priests, who did so. ¹⁵ And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? ¹⁶ And the man in whom the evil spirit was, leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

¹⁰ To another, the working of miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, discerning of spirits; to another, divers kinds of languages; to another, the interpretation of languages:

²⁸ And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, next miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of languages.

³⁰ Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak in languages? do all interpret?

¹ Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

² For he that speaketh in an unknown language, speaketh not to men, but to God: for no man understandeth him; yet in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

⁴ He that speaketh in an unknown language edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. ⁵ I would that ye all spoke in languages, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh in languages, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. ⁶ Now, brethren, if I come to you speaking in languages, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? ⁷ And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? ⁸ For if the trumpet shall give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for battle? ⁹ So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye will speak into the air. ¹⁰ There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification. ¹¹ Therefore, if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be to him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh will be a barbarian to me. ¹² Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church. ¹³ Wherefore, let him that speaketh in an unknown language, pray that he may interpret. ¹⁴ For if I pray in an unknown language, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. ¹⁵ What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. ¹⁶ Else, when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest? ¹⁷ For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified. ¹⁸ I thank my God, I speak in languages more than ye all: ¹⁹ Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown language. ²⁰ Brethren, be not children in understanding: yet in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men. ²¹ In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak to this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. ²² Wherefore languages are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them who believe. ²³ If therefore the whole church is assembled in one place, and all speak in languages, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are insane? ²⁴ But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced by all, he is judged by all: ²⁵ And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face, he will worship God, and report that God is in you in truth. ²⁶ How is it then, brethren? when ye are assembled, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a language, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done to edification.

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

³⁹ And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered from it wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew them not. ⁴⁰ So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eat of it. ⁴¹ But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot.

¹³ Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

²³ And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she will live.

¹⁹ Behold, I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

⁶ Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have I give thee: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. ⁷ And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. ⁸ And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

¹² And when Peter saw it, he answered to the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

¹⁶ And his name, through faith in his name, hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yes, the faith which is by him, hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

²² For the man was above forty years old on whom this miracle of healing was performed.

³⁰ By stretching forth thy hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

¹⁵ So that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. ¹⁶ There came also a multitude out of the cities around to Jerusalem, bringing sick persons, and them who were afflicted with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

¹⁷ And Ananias went, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him, said, Brother Saul, the Lord (even Jesus that appeared to thee in the way as thou camest) hath sent me, that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit. ¹⁸ And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

³⁴ And Peter said to him, Eneas, Jesus Christ healeth thee: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

⁴⁰ But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning to the body, said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up. ⁴¹ And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up; and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive. ⁴² And it was known throughout all Joppa: and many believed in the Lord.

¹² So that from his body were brought to the sick, handkerchiefs, or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

³ And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand. ⁴ And when the barbarians saw the animal hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live. ⁵ And he shook off the animal into the fire, and felt no harm. ⁶ Yet they looked when he would have swelled, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

⁸ And it came to pass that the father of Publius lay sick with a fever, and a bloody-flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him. ⁹ So when this was done, others also who had diseases in the isle, came, and were healed:

²⁰ And the God of peace will soon bruise Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

⁹ To another, faith by the same Spirit; to another, the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

¹⁴ Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: ¹⁵ And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he hath committed sins, they will be forgiven him.

¹ A Psalm of David. The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool.

¹⁸ And Jesus came, and spoke to them, saying, All power is given to me in heaven and upon earth. ¹⁹ Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. ²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things whatever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen.

⁵¹ And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,

⁴⁴ And he said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. ⁴⁵ Then he opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, ⁴⁶ And said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: ⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ And ye are witnesses of these things. ⁴⁹ And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye are endued with power from on high. ⁵⁰ And he led them out as far as to Bethany: and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. ⁵¹ And it came to pass, while he was blessing them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

⁶² What if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

¹ Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

²⁸ I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

⁴ I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. ⁵ And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thy ownself, with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

¹³ And now I come to thee, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

¹⁷ Jesus saith to her, Touch me not: for I have not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God.

¹⁵ So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith to him, Yes, Lord: thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him, Feed my lambs.

²² Jesus saith to him, If I will that he shall tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me.

² Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom he had chosen: ³ To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion, by many infallible proofs, being seen by them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

⁹ And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. ¹⁰ And while they looked steadfastly towards heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; ¹¹ Who also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up to heaven? this same Jesus who is taken from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

²¹ Whom the heaven must receive, until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets, since the world began.

⁵⁵ But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, ⁵⁶ And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

³⁴ Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, or rather that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

²⁴ Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule, and all authority, and power. ²⁵ For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

²⁰ Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, ²¹ Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: ²² And put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

⁸ Wherefore he saith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men. ⁹ Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all heavens, that he might fill all things. ¹¹ And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

¹ If ye then be raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

¹⁶ And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

³ Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself made purification of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

¹⁴ Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that hath passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

²⁰ Whither the forerunner hath for us entered, even Jesus, made a high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

²⁶ For such a high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

¹ Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such a high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

²⁴ For Christ hath not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

¹² But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins, for ever sat down on the right hand of God; ¹³ From henceforth waiting till his enemies are made his footstool.

¹⁹ Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the vail, that is to say, his flesh; ²¹ And having a high priest over the house of God; ²² Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

² Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

²² Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels, and authorities, and powers being made subject to him.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: If any man shall hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. ²¹ To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me on my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father on his throne.

¹ And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. ² And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. ³ And there appeared to them, cloven tongues as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. ⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance. ⁵ And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. ⁶ Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because every man heard them speak in his own language. ⁷ And they were all amazed, and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these who speak Galileans? ⁸ And how do we hear every man in our own language, wherein we were born? ⁹ Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, ¹⁰ Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and Proselytes, ¹¹ Cretes and Arabians we hear them speak in our languages the wonderful works of God. ¹² And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? ¹³ Others mocking, said, These men are full of new wine. ¹⁴ But Peter standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said to them, Ye men of Judea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known to you, and hearken to my words: ¹⁵ For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. ¹⁶ But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel, ¹⁷ And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: ¹⁸ And on my servants, and on my hand-maidens I will, in those days, pour out of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: ¹⁹ And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs on the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. ²⁰ The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come. ²¹ And it shall come to pass, that whoever shall call on the name of the Lord, shall be saved. ²² Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved by God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: ²³ Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: ²⁴ Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be held by it. ²⁵ For David speaketh concerning him, I saw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: ²⁶ Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also, my flesh shall rest in hope: ²⁷ Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thy Holy One to see corruption: ²⁸ Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou wilt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

¹² And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

⁴ Therefore they that were dispersed went every where preaching the word. ⁵ Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ to them. ⁶ And the people with one accord gave heed to those things which Philip spoke, hearing and seeing the miracles which he performed.

³ A long time therefore they abode speaking boldly in the Lord, who gave testimony to the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

⁸ And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who had never walked. ⁹ The same heard Paul speak: who steadfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, ¹⁰ Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

¹⁹ Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and around to Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

⁴ And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit, and of power: ⁵ That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered: but God hath given the increase. ⁷ So then, neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth: but God that giveth the increase. ⁸ Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward, according to his own labor. ⁹ For we are laborers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

¹ We then, as co-workers with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

⁴ God also bearing them testimony, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?
