⁵ In the fourteenth day of the first month at evening is the LORD'S passover. ⁶ And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread to the LORD, seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.

² Ye know that after two days is the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified. ³ Then assembled the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, ⁴ And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him. ⁵ But they said, Not on the feast-day, lest there be an uproar among the people.

⁵⁵ And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves. ⁵⁶ Then they sought for Jesus, and spoke among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast? ⁵⁷ Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he was, he should show it, that they might take him.

⁷ Cleanse out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: ⁸ Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

¹ Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? ² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, ³ Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. ⁴ He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. ⁵ Then shall he speak to them in his wrath, and trouble them in his sore displeasure.

¹⁴ Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

³⁸ But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.

⁴⁵ And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke of them. ⁴⁶ But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

⁴⁷ And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests, and the scribes, and the chief of the people sought to destroy him, ⁴⁸ And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

¹⁹ And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.

⁴⁷ Then the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and said, What do we? for this man performeth many miracles. ⁴⁸ If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans will come, and take away both our place and nation. ⁴⁹ And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said to them, Ye know nothing at all, ⁵⁰ Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. ⁵¹ And this he spoke not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; ⁵² And not for that nation only, but that also he should assemble in one the children of God that were scattered abroad. ⁵³ Then from that day forth they took counsel together to put him to death.

¹⁰ And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests, to betray him to them. ¹¹ And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.

¹⁸ And as they sat, and were eating, Jesus said, Verily I say to you, One of you who eateth with me, will betray me. ¹⁹ And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I? ²⁰ And he answered and said to them, It is one of the twelve that dippeth with me in the dish.

¹⁶ And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, who also was the traitor.

²¹ But behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? ⁷¹ He spoke of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for it was he that was to betray him, being one of the twelve.

⁶ This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bore what was put in it.

² And supper being ended (the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;)

¹⁸ I speak not of you all; I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me, hath lifted up his heel against me.

²⁶ Jesus answered, He it is to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. ²⁷ And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus to him, What thou doest, do quickly.

³ But Peter said, Ananias, Why hath Satan filled thy heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

¹ And as they were speaking to the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them,

²⁴ Now when the high priest, and the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them to what this would grow.

²⁶ Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.

¹² And I said to them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. ¹³ And the LORD said to me, Cast it to the potter: a goodly price that I was prized at by them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.

³ Then Judas, who had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, ⁴ Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. ⁵ And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

¹⁸ Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

²⁰ But Peter said to him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

⁹ But they that will be rich, fall into temptation, and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some have coveted, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

³ And through covetousness they will with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

¹⁵ Who have forsaken the right way, and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

¹¹ Woe to them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and run greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

²⁹ And it came to pass, when he had come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, ³⁰ Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in which at your entering ye will find a colt tied, on which yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither. ³¹ And if any man shall ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say to him, Because the Lord hath need of him. ³² And they that were sent, went and found even as he had said to them. ³³ And as they were loosing the colt, the owners of it said to them, Why loose ye the colt? ³⁴ And they said, The Lord hath need of him. ³⁵ And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus upon him. ³⁶ And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way. ³⁷ And when he had come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice, for all the mighty works that they had seen. ³⁸ Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. ³⁹ And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said to him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. ⁴⁰ And he answered and said to them, I tell you, that if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

⁴ But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not to you at the beginning, because I was with you.

²⁶ And the angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, Arise, and go towards the south, to the way that goeth down from Jerusalem to Gaza, which is desert. ²⁷ And he arose, and went: and behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, ²⁸ Was returning; and sitting in his chariot, read Isaiah the prophet. ²⁹ Then the Spirit said to Philip, Go near and join thyself to this chariot.

³ And if any man shall say aught to you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and immediately he will send them.

⁵ And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said to him, Zaccheus, make haste, and come down: for to-day I must abide at thy house.

⁴⁰ Jesus saith to her, Said I not to thee, that if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

⁸ By faith Abraham, when he was called to remove into a place which he should afterwards receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out not knowing whither he was going.

⁶ But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at evening, at the setting of the sun, at the time of thy departure from Egypt. ⁷ And thou shalt roast and eat it in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose: and thou shalt turn in the morning, and go to thy tents.

²⁰ Now when the evening was come, he sat down with the twelve.

³⁰ And the apostles assembled themselves to Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.

¹⁷ And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.

⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it shall be accomplished!

³⁴ Jesus saith to them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

¹ Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

¹ These words spoke Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

³⁷ Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say to you, that he will gird himself, and make them to sit down to eat, and will come forth and serve them.

¹⁵ And when one of them that sat at table with him heard these things, he said to him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.

³⁰ That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²⁷ Labor not for the food which perisheth, but for that food which endureth to everlasting life, which the Son of man will give to you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

⁵⁰ This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat of it, and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man shall eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. ⁵² The Jews therefore contended among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? ⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. ⁵⁴ Whoever eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. ⁵⁶ He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. ⁵⁸ This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers ate manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

⁴¹ Not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

¹ For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers to them perfect. ² For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshipers once cleansed, would have had no more conscience of sins. ³ But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. ⁴ For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. ⁵ Wherefore, when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldst not, but a body hast thou prepared me: ⁶ In burnt-offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. ⁷ Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written concerning me,) to do thy will, O God. ⁸ Above, when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt-offerings and offering for sin thou wouldst not, neither hadst pleasure in them; which are offered by the law; ⁹ Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. ¹⁰ By which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

⁹ And he saith to me, Write, Blessed are they who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith to me, These are the true sayings of God.

¹⁰ When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.

¹³ As soon as ye shall enter the city, ye will straightway find him, before he goeth up to the high place to eat: for the people will not eat until he cometh, because he doth bless the sacrifice; and afterwards they eat that are invited. Now therefore go up: for about this time ye will find him.

⁵ Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

¹³ I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.

⁷ Neither shall men tear themselves for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.

¹⁶ Then he took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and broke, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.

¹⁹ And he took bread, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

⁶ He that regardeth the day, regardeth it to the Lord: and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

⁴ For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if received with thanksgiving: ⁵ For it is sanctified by the word of God, and prayer.

¹³ And the vine said to them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?

¹⁵ And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.

⁶ Give strong drink to him that is ready to perish, and wine to those that are of heavy hearts. ⁷ Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

¹ I have come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh, with my spice; I have eaten my honey-comb with my honey; I have drank my wine with my milk: eat, O friends; drink, yes, drink abundantly, O beloved.

⁹ They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it. ¹⁰ The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may enter. ¹¹ There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.

⁶ And on this mountain will the LORD of hosts make to all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

¹ Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

⁴⁴ And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

¹⁵ The LORD of hosts will defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling-stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar.

¹⁷ For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.

¹⁸ And I say also to thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church: and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

²⁹ But I say to you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

¹ And he said to them, Verily I say to you, that there are some of them that stand here who shall not taste death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.

²³ And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.

²⁵ Verily I say to you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

²³ And they gave him to drink, wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.

²⁷ But I tell you in truth, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.

³¹ So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

¹⁶ For I say to you, I will not any more eat of it until it shall be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

³⁰ Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn to him with an oath, that from the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; ³¹ He seeing this before, spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither did his flesh see corruption. ³² This Jesus hath God raised up, of which we all are witnesses. ³³ Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. ³⁴ For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he saith himself, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, ³⁵ Until I make thy foes thy footstool. ³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, in which is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; ¹⁹ Speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

¹³ Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his beloved Son:

²⁶ The seven good cows are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one. ²⁷ And the seven thin and ill-favored cows that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind will be seven years of famine.

⁴ We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. ⁵ For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: ⁶ That the generation to come might know them, even the children who should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

⁴ He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.

⁴ Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers; we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.

¹¹ Then he said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

³⁸ And wherever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thy hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.

²² It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth to heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth. ²³ And whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let its portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times shall pass over him; ²⁴ This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:

⁷ And behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah. ⁸ And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon its mouth.

¹⁹ And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and broke, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

²⁶ And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. ²⁷ And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; ²⁸ For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sin.

²² And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. ²³ And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. ²⁴ And he said to them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.

¹⁷ And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves.

²⁰ Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

³⁰ And it came to pass, as he sat at table with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and broke, and gave to them.

²³ (Yet there came other boats from Tiberias nigh to the place where they ate bread, after the Lord had given thanks:)

⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man shall eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

⁴ And all drank the same spiritual drink: (for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.)

¹⁶ The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

²³ For I have received from the Lord, that which also I delivered to you, That the Lord Jesus, the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread: ²⁴ And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. ²⁵ After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. ²⁶ For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he shall come. ²⁷ Wherefore, whoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. ²⁸ But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. ²⁹ For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh condemnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

⁴ Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

²⁵ For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

² And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor.

¹⁸ In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

²⁴ Who himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live to righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.

⁸ And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold, the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

³¹ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

¹¹ As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit in which is no water.

²⁸ For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sin.

¹⁶ The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? ¹⁷ For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. ¹⁸ Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they who eat of the sacrifices, partakers of the altar? ¹⁹ What then do I say? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? ²⁰ But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with demons. ²¹ Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of demons.

²⁵ After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

⁶ Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

⁶ But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. ⁷ For if that first covenant had been faultless, then would no place have been sought for the second. ⁸ For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: ⁹ Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. ¹⁰ For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: ¹¹ And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. ¹² For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. ¹³ In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and groweth old is ready to vanish away.

¹⁵ And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they who are called may receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

¹⁷ For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

²⁴ And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

²⁰ Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

¹⁹ All my intimate friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.

⁵ Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. ⁶ For the son dishonoreth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

²¹ And as they were eating, he said, Verily I say to you, that one of you will betray me. ²² And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say to him, Lord, is it I? ²³ And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same will betray me. ²⁴ The Son of man goeth, as it is written concerning him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man, if he had not been born.

¹⁸ And as they sat, and were eating, Jesus said, Verily I say to you, One of you who eateth with me, will betray me. ¹⁹ And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I? ²⁰ And he answered and said to them, It is one of the twelve that dippeth with me in the dish. ²¹ The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written concerning him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

¹⁸ I speak not of you all; I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me, hath lifted up his heel against me. ¹⁹ Now I tell you before it cometh, that when it hath come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.

²¹ When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, that one of you will betray me. ²² Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spoke.

²⁶ Jesus answered, He it is to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

¹² (55:11)Wickedness is in the midst of it: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. ¹³ (55:12)For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that magnified himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: ¹⁴ (55:13)But it was thou, a man my equal, my guide, and my acquaintance. ¹⁵ (55:14)We took sweet counsel together, and walked to the house of God in company.

Save me, O God; for the waters are come in to my soul. ³ (69:2)I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. ⁴ (69:3)I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: my eyes fail while I wait for my God. ⁵ (69:4)They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head: they that would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away. ⁶ (69:5)O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee. ⁷ (69:6)Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel. ⁸ (69:7)Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face. ⁹ (69:8)I am become a stranger to my brethren, and an alien to my mother's children. ¹⁰ (69:9)For the zeal of thy house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee have fallen upon me. ¹¹ (69:10)When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach. ¹² (69:11)I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them. ¹³ (69:12)They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards. ¹⁴ (69:13)But as for me, my prayer is to thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation. ¹⁵ (69:14)Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters. ¹⁶ (69:15)Let not the water-flood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me. ¹⁷ (69:16)Hear me, O LORD; for thy loving-kindness is good: turn to me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies. ¹⁸ (69:17)And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily. ¹⁹ (69:18)Draw nigh to my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of my enemies. ²⁰ (69:19)Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor: my adversaries are all before thee. ²¹ (69:20)Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. ²² (69:21)They gave me also gall for my food; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. ²³ (69:22)Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap. ²⁴ (69:23)Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake. ²⁵ (69:24)Pour out thy indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them. ²⁶ (69:25)Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents. ²⁷ (69:26)For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded. ²⁸ (69:27)Add iniquity to their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness. ²⁹ (69:28)Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. ³⁰ (69:29)But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high. ³¹ (69:30)I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. ³² (69:31)This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs. ³³ (69:32)The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God. ³⁴ (69:33)For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners. ³⁵ (69:34)Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein. ³⁶ (69:35)For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.

⁶ Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand. ⁷ When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin. ⁸ Let his days be few; and let another take his office. ⁹ Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. ¹⁰ Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places. ¹¹ Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let strangers spoil his labor. ¹² Let there be none to extend mercy to him: neither let there be any to favor his fatherless children. ¹³ Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. ¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. ¹⁵ Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.

¹ Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? ² For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. ³ He is despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. ⁴ Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. ⁵ But he was wounded for our transgression, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. ⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. ⁷ He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth. ⁸ He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off from the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. ⁹ And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death: because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. ¹⁰ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. ¹¹ He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore I will divide to him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul to death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. ²⁵ Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem to the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and sixty and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. ²⁶ And after sixty and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and its end shall be with a flood, and to the end of the war desolations are determined.

⁷ Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn my hand upon the little ones.

²⁴ The Son of man goeth, as it is written concerning him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man, if he had not been born.

⁵³ Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he will presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? ⁵⁴ But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

⁵ And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

²¹ The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written concerning him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

²⁵ Then he said to them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! ²⁶ Ought not Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory? ²⁷ And beginning at Moses, and all the prophets, he expounded to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

⁴⁶ And said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

¹² While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest to me I have kept, and none of them is lost but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

¹⁶ Men, brethren, This scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit by the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus. ¹⁷ For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. ¹⁸ Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. ¹⁹ And it was known to all the dwellers at Jerusalem; so that that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood. ²⁰ For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell in it: and, His bishopric let another take. ²¹ Wherefore, of these men who accompanied us, all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, ²² Beginning from the baptism of John, to that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection. ²³ And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. ²⁴ And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show which of these two thou hast chosen, ²⁵ That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

²³ Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

²⁵ Who, by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were assembled against the Lord, and against his Christ. ²⁷ For in truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were assembled, ²⁸ To do whatever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

²⁷ For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the words of the prophets which are read every sabbath, they have fulfilled them in condemning him. ²⁸ And though they found no cause of death in him, yet they desired Pilate that he should be put to death.

²² Having therefore obtained help from God, I continue to this day, testifying both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: ²³ That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should show light to the people, and to the Gentiles.

³ For I delivered to you first of all, that which I also received, that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures; ⁴ And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

¹¹ Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

²² And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say to him, Lord, is it I?

¹⁹ And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?

²² Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spoke. ²³ Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom, one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. ²⁴ Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, to ask who it should be of whom he spoke. ²⁵ He then lying on Jesus' breast, saith to him, Lord, who is it?

²⁰ Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children, with her sons, worshiping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. ²¹ And he said to her, What wilt thou: She saith to him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left in thy kingdom. ²² But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say to him, We are able. ²³ And he saith to them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared by my Father. ²⁴ And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.

³⁴ But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.

³⁷ They said to him, Grant to us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory. ³⁸ But Jesus said to them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? ³⁹ And they said to him, We can. And Jesus said to them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of: and with the baptism that I am baptized with shalt ye be baptized; ⁴⁰ But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand, is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared. ⁴¹ And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.

⁴⁶ Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.

¹⁰ Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;

⁴ Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. ⁴ Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. ⁵ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

⁵ Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? ⁶ But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.

⁵ Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. ⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

²⁵ But Jesus called them to him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. ²⁶ But it shall not be so among you: but whoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; ²⁷ And whoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: ²⁸ Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

⁴¹ And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John. ⁴² But Jesus called them, and saith to them, Ye know that they who are accounted to rule over the Gentiles, exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. ⁴³ But so it shall not be among you: but whoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: ⁴⁴ And whoever of you will be the chief, shall be servant of all. ⁴⁵ For even the son of man came not to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

³ And said, Verily I say to you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Whoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. ⁵ And whoever shall receive one such little child in my name, receiveth me.

⁸ But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. ⁹ And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father who is in heaven. ¹⁰ Neither be ye called masters: for one is your master, even Christ. ¹¹ But he that is greatest among you, shall be your servant. ¹² And whoever shall exalt himself, shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself, shall be exalted.

³⁵ And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith to them, If any man desireth to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.

⁴⁸ And said to them, Whoever shall receive this child in my name, receiveth me; and whoever shall receive me, receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.

² And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

³ Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.

⁹ I wrote to the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the pre-eminence among them, receiveth us not. ¹⁰ Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content with that, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.

²⁸ Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

⁷ But which of you having a servant plowing, or feeding cattle, will say to him immediately, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to eat? ⁸ And will not rather say to him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drank; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? ⁹ Doth he thank that servant, because he did the things that were commanded him? I suppose not.

⁵ After that, he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded. ⁶ Then he cometh to Simon Peter: and Peter saith to him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? ⁷ Jesus answered and said to him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. ⁸ Peter saith to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. ⁹ Simon Peter saith to him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. ¹⁰ Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is wholly clean: and ye are clean, but not all. ¹¹ For he knew who would betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean. ¹² So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said to them, Know ye what I have done to you? ¹³ Ye call me Master, and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. ¹⁶ Verily, verily, I say to you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

⁹ For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

⁷ But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: ⁸ And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross.

²⁸ And Jesus said to them, Verily I say to you, that ye who have followed me in the regeneration, when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. ²⁹ And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my name's sake, shall receive a hundred-fold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

¹³ But he that shall endure to the end, the same shall be saved.

⁶⁷ Then said Jesus to the twelve, Will ye also go away? ⁶⁸ Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

³¹ Then said Jesus to those Jews who believed on him, If ye continue in my word, ye are my disciples indeed;

²⁵ That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

¹⁸ For in that he himself hath suffered, being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted.

¹⁵ For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but who was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

⁴⁷ Verily I say to you, that he will make him ruler over all his goods.

³⁴ Then will the King say to them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

¹⁸ And Jesus came, and spoke to them, saying, All power is given to me in heaven and upon earth.

³² Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

¹⁷ And he said to him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

²⁵ And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

⁷ And our hope of you is steadfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.

¹² If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

⁴ And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

⁹ Then the king called to Ziba, Saul's servant, and said to him, I have given to thy master's son all that pertained to Saul, and to all his house. ¹⁰ Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master's son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread always at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

²⁸ For all of my father's house were but dead men before my lord the king: yet didst thou set thy servant among them that ate at thy own table. What right therefore have I yet to cry any more to the king?

¹⁴ (49:13)This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.

¹¹ And I say to you, that many shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

²⁸ And Jesus said to them, Verily I say to you, that ye who have followed me in the regeneration, when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

¹⁶ For I say to you, I will not any more eat of it until it shall be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. ¹⁷ And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves. ¹⁸ For I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

² Do ye not know that the saints will judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? ³ Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more, things that pertain to this life?

²⁶ And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works to the end, to him will I give power over the nations: ²⁷ (And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers:) even as I received of my Father.

²¹ To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me on my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father on his throne.

⁴ And around the throne were four and twenty seats; and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

⁶ Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. ⁷ And the LORD said to Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down upon it. ⁸ And the LORD said to Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and shunneth evil? ⁹ Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for naught? ¹⁰ Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. ¹¹ But put forth thy hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. ¹² And the LORD said to Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thy hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

¹ Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD. ² And the LORD said to Satan, Whence comest thou? and Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down upon it. ³ And the LORD said to Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and shunneth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. ⁴ And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, even, all that a man hath will he give for his life. ⁵ But put forth thy hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. ⁶ And the LORD said to Satan, Behold, he is in thy hand; but save his life.

⁹ For lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.

¹ And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

⁴¹ And Jesus answered, and said to her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious, and troubled about many things:

⁴ And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

¹⁰ And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night.

³ When I kept silence, my bones became old through my roaring all the day long. ⁴ For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drouth of summer. Selah. ⁵ I acknowledged my sin to thee, and my iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions to the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. ⁶ For this shall every one that is godly pray to thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh to him.

² And the LORD said to Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? ³ Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. ⁴ And he answered and spoke to those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And to him he said, Behold, I have caused thy iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

³ And said, Verily I say to you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who said to him, Before the cock shall crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

⁷² And the second time the cock crowed. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said to him, Before the cock shall crow twice, thou wilt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

⁷ But go, tell his disciples and Peter, that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said to you.

¹³ They on the rock are they, who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

⁶¹ And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, Before the cock shall crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. ⁶² And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

⁹ I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them whom thou hast given to me; for they are thine. ¹⁰ And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. ¹¹ And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thy own name those whom thou hast given to me, that they may be one, as we are.

¹⁵ I pray not that thou shouldst take them out of the world, but that thou shouldst keep them from the evil. ¹⁶ They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. ¹⁷ Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. ¹⁸ As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. ¹⁹ And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified through the truth. ²⁰ Neither pray I for these alone; but for them also who shall believe on me through their word. ²¹ That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

¹⁵ So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith to him, Yes, Lord: thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him, Feed my lambs. ¹⁶ He saith to him again the second time, Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith to him, Yes, Lord: thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him, Feed my sheep. ¹⁷ He saith to him the third time, Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved, because he said to him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith to him, Feed my sheep.

¹⁹ Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord,

⁹ Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. ¹⁰ For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son; much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

³² He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

³⁴ Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, or rather that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

⁴ Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them who are in any trouble by the consolation with which we ourselves are comforted by God. ⁵ For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. ⁶ And whether we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

¹³ Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief: ¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. ¹⁶ However, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all long-suffering, for a pattern to them who should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

¹⁸ Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

¹ Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is according to godliness;

²⁵ Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come to God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

¹² Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; ¹³ And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

¹⁵ Looking diligently, lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up, trouble you, and by it many be defiled;

¹ Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

⁵ Who are kept by the power of God through faith to salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

¹³ Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: ⁹ Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. ¹⁰ But the God of all grace, who hath called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.

¹⁰ Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: ¹¹ For so an entrance shall be ministered to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. ¹² Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the present truth.

¹⁴ Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found by him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

¹⁷ Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. ¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

¹ My little children, these things I write to you, that ye sin not. And if any man sinneth, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: ² And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

¹² And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do to the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child. ¹³ And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shown me that thou wilt be king over Syria.

²⁶ He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoever walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

²³ O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

⁹ The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

²² But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say to him, We are able.

³³ Peter answered and said to him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. ³⁴ Jesus said to him, Verily I say to thee, that this night, before the cock shall crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. ³⁵ Peter said to him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

⁴⁰ And he cometh to the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith to Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

²⁹ But Peter said to him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.

³¹ But he spoke the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.

³⁷ And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith to Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldst not thou watch one hour? ³⁸ Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

³⁶ Simon Peter said to him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterward. ³⁷ Peter said to him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.

²³ Save that the Holy Spirit testifieth in every city, saying, that bonds and afflictions abide me. ²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I have received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

¹³ Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep, and to break my heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

³⁴ Jesus said to him, Verily I say to thee, that this night, before the cock shall crow, thou wilt deny me thrice.

³⁰ And Jesus saith to him, Verily I say to thee, that this day, even in this night, before the cock shall crow twice, thou wilt deny me thrice.

⁷¹ But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak. ⁷² And the second time the cock crowed. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said to him, Before the cock shall crow twice, thou wilt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

³⁸ Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say to thee, The cock will not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.

²⁷ Peter then denied again, and immediately the cock crowed.

¹⁵ And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God who hath fed me all my life long to this day,

² And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God hath led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thy heart, whether thou wouldst keep his commandments, or not. ³ And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

¹⁶ Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end.

³ Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

³¹ Therefore be not anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or, with what shall we be clothed? ³² (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. ³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

⁹ Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses; ¹⁰ Nor bag for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor a staff: for the workman is worthy of his food.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

³³ These things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye will have tribulation, but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world.

²⁷ For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the words of the prophets which are read every sabbath, they have fulfilled them in condemning him. ²⁸ And though they found no cause of death in him, yet they desired Pilate that he should be put to death. ²⁹ And when they had fulfilled all that was written concerning him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulcher.

¹³ Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Accursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

⁵² Then said Jesus to him, Put up again thy sword into its place: for all they that take the sword, shall perish by the sword.

⁴⁹ When they who were about him, saw what would follow, they said to him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

³⁶ Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

³ For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh: ⁴ (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

¹⁰ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. ¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. ¹³ Wherefore take to you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breast-plate of righteousness; ¹⁵ And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which ye will be able to extinguish all the fiery darts of the wicked. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: ¹⁸ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching for this purpose with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breast-plate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation. ⁹ Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

¹ And when they drew nigh to Jerusalem, and had come to Bethphage, to the mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,

³⁰ And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the mount of Olives.

³⁶ Then cometh Jesus with them to a place called Gethsemane, and saith to the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go yonder and pray. ³⁷ And he took with him Peter, and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. ³⁸ Then saith he to them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even to death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

¹¹ And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round upon all things, it being now evening, he went out to Bethany, with the twelve.

¹⁹ And when evening had come, he went out of the city.

³ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, over against the temple, Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, asked him privately,

²⁶ And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the mount of Olives.

³⁷ And in the day-time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

¹ When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Kedron, where was a garden, into which he entered, and his disciples. ² And Judas also, who betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus often resorted thither with his disciples.

¹⁰ And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldst bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that thy hand might be with me, and that thou wouldst keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

⁵ Uphold my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

¹³ (19:12)Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

¹¹⁶ Uphold me according to thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope. ¹¹⁷ Support me, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect to thy statutes continually.

⁴ And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

⁴⁶ And said to them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

⁷ And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. ⁸ For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. ⁹ And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

¹⁸ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching for this purpose with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; ¹⁹ And for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

⁷ But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch to prayer.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

⁸ (40:7)Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

¹⁷ Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drank at the hand of the LORD the cup of his fury; thou hast drank the dregs of the cup of trembling, and wrung them out.

²² Thus saith thy Lord Jehovah, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thy hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:

¹⁵ For thus saith the LORD God of Israel to me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it.

⁴² He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

⁴⁴ And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

³⁶ And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless, not what I will, but what thou wilt.

¹⁷ And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves. ¹⁸ For I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. ¹⁹ And he took bread, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. ²⁰ Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

³⁰ I can of my own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who hath sent me.

³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.

²⁷ Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause I came to this hour. ²⁸ Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

¹¹ Then said Jesus to Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

²⁸ But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.

³ Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands. ⁴ Thy words have upheld him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.

¹¹ For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. ¹² They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

¹⁶ And behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spoke, and said to him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength. ¹⁷ For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, immediately there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me. ¹⁸ Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,

¹⁸ (10:19)And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be to thee, be strong, yes, be strong. ¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall inherit salvation?

¹⁶ Men, brethren, This scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit by the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus. ¹⁷ For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. ¹⁸ Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

¹⁹ Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place to wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

⁸ Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: If therefore ye seek me, let these go away: ⁹ That the saying might be fulfilled which he spoke, Of them whom thou gavest to me, I have lost none.

²¹ Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹ Now I Paul myself beseech you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold towards you:

²¹ For even to this were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: ²² Who committed no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: ²³ Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

¹⁵ But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said to them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the LORD.

⁵⁵ In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staffs to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

⁴⁸ And Jesus answered and said to them, Have ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staffs to take me? ⁴⁹ I was daily with you in the temple, teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.

⁴ And he went, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him to them.

²¹ But the Philistines took him and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison-house. ²² However the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaved. ²³ Then the lords of the Philistines assembled to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand. ²⁴ And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country; who slew many of us. ²⁵ And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison-house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars. ²⁶ And Samson said to the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars upon which the house standeth, that I may lean upon them. ²⁷ Now the house was full of men and women: and all the lords of the Philistines were there: and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport. ²⁸ And Samson called to the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes. ²⁹ And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was supported, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left. ³⁰ And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were in it. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.

⁵ That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

¹² And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of them that sold doves. ¹³ And said to them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves. ¹⁴ And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. ¹⁵ And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were greatly displeased,

²³ And when he had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things; and who gave thee this authority?

³⁷ And in the day-time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives. ³⁸ And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, to hear him.

²⁵ Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he whom they seek to kill? ²⁶ But lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing to him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?

³⁰ Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.

⁴⁵ Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said to them, Why have ye not brought him?

³⁰ Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

²⁰ Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice: and ye will be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. ²¹ A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. ²² And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

¹⁸ To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them who are sanctified by faith that is in me.

³ But if our gospel is hid, it is hid to them that are lost: ⁴ In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine to them. ⁵ For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. ⁶ For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined into our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out upon the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. ¹⁰ And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night. ¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives to the death. ¹² Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth, and of the sea! for the devil is come down to you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

³¹ But, in the business of the embassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

⁵⁷ And they that had laid hold on Jesus, led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. ⁵⁸ But Peter followed him at a distance, to the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants to see the end.

⁵³ And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests, and the elders and the scribes. ⁵⁴ And Peter followed him at a distance, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.

³³ And he said to him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee both into prison, and to death. ³⁴ And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock will not crow this day, before thou wilt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

¹² Then the band, and the captain, and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him, ¹³ And led him away to Annas first, (for he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was the high priest that same year.) ¹⁴ Now Caiaphas was he who gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people. ¹⁵ And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. That disciple was known to the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest. ¹⁶ But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple who was known to the high priest, and spoke to her that kept the door, and brought in Peter. ¹⁷ Then saith the damsel that kept the door to Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.

²⁴ (Now Annas had sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.)

¹ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of scoffers.

⁴ I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers. ⁵ I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.

³ Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.

⁶ Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

²⁰ He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

³ Then assembled the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

⁶⁹ Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came to him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee. ⁷⁰ But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest. ⁷¹ And when he had gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said to them that were there, This man was also with Jesus of Nazareth. ⁷² And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man. ⁷³ And after a while came to him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech betrayeth thee. ⁷⁴ Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crowed. ⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who said to him, Before the cock shall crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

⁶⁶ And as Peter was below in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest: ⁶⁷ And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth. ⁶⁸ But he denied, saying, I know not, neither do I understand what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crowed. ⁶⁹ And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. ⁷⁰ And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.

⁴⁴ And being in an agony, he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling to the ground.

¹⁶ But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple who was known to the high priest, and spoke to her that kept the door, and brought in Peter. ¹⁷ Then saith the damsel that kept the door to Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not. ¹⁸ And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; (for it was cold) and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.

²⁵ And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore to him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not. ²⁶ One of the servants of the high priest (being the kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off) saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him? ²⁷ Peter then denied again, and immediately the cock crowed.

³³ Be not deceived: Evil communications corrupt good manners.

¹⁵ And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? ¹⁶ And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. ¹⁷ Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you;

⁶⁹ Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came to him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

⁶ And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.

⁶⁶ And as Peter was below in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest: ⁶⁷ And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth. ⁶⁸ But he denied, saying, I know not, neither do I understand what thou sayest. ¹⁷ Then saith the damsel that kept the door to Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.

³³ But whoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven.

⁷⁰ But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

⁹ But he that denieth me before men, shall be denied before the angels of God.

²⁵ And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore to him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.

¹³ The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. ¹⁴ But ye denied the Holy One, and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted to you,

¹⁰ Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. ¹¹ It is a faithful saying: For if we are dead with him, we shall also live with him: ¹² If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

⁶⁹ And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. ⁷⁰ And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.

⁷³ And after a while came to him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech betrayeth thee. ⁷⁴ Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crowed.

³⁴ And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock will not crow this day, before thou wilt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

²⁷ He looketh upon men, and if any shall say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;

¹⁵ For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. ¹⁶ For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit would fail before me, and the souls which I have made. ¹⁷ For the iniquity of his covetousness I was wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart. ¹⁸ I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts to him and to his mourners.

¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God. ¹⁹ Surely after I was turned, I repented; and after I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, and even confounded, because I bore the reproach of my youth. ²⁰ Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spoke against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.

⁶³ That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified towards thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.

³¹ Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities, and for your abominations. ³² Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known to you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.

⁸ How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? my heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.

³⁰ And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the throng, and said, Who touched my clothes?

¹³ And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, Weep not.

³¹ Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

¹¹ Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

⁵ Remember therefore from whence thou hast fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come to thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of its place, except thou repent.

¹⁸ (38:17)For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.

⁵ They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. ⁶ He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless return with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

⁴ Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

¹² Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth, take heed lest he fall.

⁹ Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. ¹⁰ For godly sorrow worketh penitence to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. ¹¹ For behold this very thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what avenging! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

⁹ He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; my enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me. ¹⁰ They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves against me.

⁹ And now I am their song, yes, I am their by-word. ¹⁰ They abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face. ¹¹ Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also let loose the bridle before me. ¹² Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction. ¹³ They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper. ¹⁴ They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me.

⁶ (22:5)They cried to thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded. ⁷ (22:6)But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.

At the last came two false witnesses, ⁶¹ And said, This man said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. ⁶² And the high priest arose, and said to him, Answerest thou nothing, what is it which these testify against thee? ⁶³ But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said to him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ the Son of God. ⁶⁴ Jesus saith to him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say to you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. ⁶⁵ Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. ⁶⁶ What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death. ⁶⁷ Then they spit in his face, and buffetted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands, ⁶⁸ Saying, Prophesy to us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

²⁸ And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. ²⁹ And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews? ³⁰ And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and struck him on the head. ³¹ And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

³⁹ And they that passed by, reviled him, wagging their heads, ⁴⁰ And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou art the Son of God, come down from the cross. ⁴¹ Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, ⁴² He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he is King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. ⁴³ He trusted in God; let him deliver him now if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. ⁴⁴ The thieves also who were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.

⁵⁵ And the chief priests, and all the council sought for testimony against Jesus to put him to death; and found none. ⁵⁶ For many bore false testimony against him, but their testimony agreed not together. ⁵⁷ And there arose certain, and bore false testimony against him, saying, ⁵⁸ We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. ⁵⁹ But neither so did their testimony agree together. ⁶⁰ And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these testify against thee? ⁶¹ But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said to him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? ⁶² And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. ⁶³ Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? ⁶⁴ Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death. ⁶⁵ And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say to him, Prophesy: and the servants struck him with the palms of their hands.

¹⁶ And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Pretorium; and they call together the whole band; ¹⁷ And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, ¹⁸ And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews! ¹⁹ And they struck him on the head with a reed, and spit upon him, and bowing their knees, worshiped him. ²⁰ And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

²⁷ And with him they crucify two thieves, the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. ²⁸ And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. ²⁹ And they that passed by, railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, ³⁰ Save thyself, and come down from the cross. ³¹ Likewise also the chief priests mocking, said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others, himself he cannot save. ³² Let Christ the king of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him, reviled him.

²² And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers who stood by, struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?

² Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

²³ Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

²¹ But the Philistines took him and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison-house.

²⁵ And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison-house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.

³¹ Wherefore I say to you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven to men. ³² And whoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whoever speaketh against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

³⁹ And they that passed by, reviled him, wagging their heads,

¹⁰ And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but to him that blasphemeth against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven.

¹¹ And I punished them often in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.

¹³ Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief: ¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

¹ Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? ² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, ³ Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

²² But I say to you, That whoever is angry with his brother without a cause, shall be in danger of the judgment: and whoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell-fire.

¹ When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.

¹ And forthwith in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes, and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

²⁸ Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment-hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.

⁵ As also the high priest doth bear me testimony, and all the estate of the elders; from whom also I received letters to the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them who were there bound to Jerusalem, to be punished.

³ And said to him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? ⁴ Jesus answered and said to them, Go and show John again those things which ye hear and see: ⁵ The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

Again the high priest asked him, and said to him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? ⁶² And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. ⁶³ Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? ⁶⁴ Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? ³¹ And he said to him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one shall rise from the dead.

³⁹ Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. ⁴⁰ And ye will not come to me, that ye may have life. ⁴¹ I receive not honor from men. ⁴² But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. ⁴³ I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. ⁴⁴ How can ye believe, who receive honor one from another, and seek not the honor that cometh from God only? ⁴⁵ Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. ⁴⁶ For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote concerning me. ⁴⁷ But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

⁴³ Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. ⁴⁴ Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do: he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. ⁴⁵ And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

²⁷ He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: Why would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples? ²⁸ Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are the disciples of Moses.

²⁴ Then came the Jews around him, and said to him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou art the Christ, tell us plainly. ²⁵ Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I did in my Father's name, they testify concerning me. ²⁶ But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said to you.

³⁷ But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: ³⁸ That the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? ³⁹ Therefore they could not believe, because that Isaiah said again, ⁴⁰ He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. ⁴¹ These things said Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spoke of him. ⁴² Nevertheless, among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: ⁴³ For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

³ And he answered and said to them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me: ⁴ The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or from men? ⁵ And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not? ⁶ But if we say, From men; all the people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet. ⁷ And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.

⁴¹ And he said to them, How say they that Christ is David's son? ⁴² And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, ⁴³ Till I make thy enemies thy footstool. ⁴⁴ David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?

¹ A Psalm of David. The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool.

¹³ I saw in the night visions, and behold, one like the son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. ¹⁴ And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

⁴⁴ The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thy enemies thy footstool?

⁶⁴ Jesus saith to him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say to you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

⁶² And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

¹⁹ So then after the Lord had spoken to them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

⁵⁵ But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, ⁵⁶ And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

²⁰ Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, ²¹ Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: ²² And put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, ²³ Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.

⁸ Wherefore he saith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men. ⁹ Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.

¹ If ye then be raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

³ Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself made purification of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

¹ Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such a high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

²² Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels, and authorities, and powers being made subject to him.

¹ And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

⁷ I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said to me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

¹² Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

¹⁷ And lo, a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

³ And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou art the son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

¹¹ And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said to him, Thou sayest.

⁴³ He trusted in God; let him deliver him now if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

⁵⁴ Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

² And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering, said to him, Thou sayest it.

⁴¹ And demons also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them, suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

³ And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.

³⁴ And I saw and bore testimony, that this is the Son of God.

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said to him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

³⁰ I and my Father are one.

³⁶ Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

³⁷ Pilate therefore said to him, Art thou a King then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a King. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

⁷ The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

⁶⁵ Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. ⁶⁶ What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

⁶³ Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? ⁶⁴ Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
