⁵⁰ And he shall reckon with him that bought him, from the year that he was sold to him, to the year of jubilee: and the price of his sale shall be according to the number of years, according to the time of a hired servant shall it be with him.

¹⁸ It shall not seem hard to thee, when thou sendest him away free from thee; for he hath been of double the worth of a hired servant to thee, in serving thee six years: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all that thou doest.

⁷ Yet man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

⁵ Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass; ⁶ Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as a hireling, his day.

¹ For the kingdom of heaven is like to a man that is a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard. ² And when he had agreed with the laborers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. ³ And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the market-place, ⁴ And said to them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatever is right, I will give you. And they departed. ⁵ Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. ⁶ And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith to them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? ⁷ They say to him, Because no man hath hired us. ¹³ Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbor, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.

¹⁵ At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it, for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he should cry against thee to the LORD, and it be sin to thee.

¹³¹ I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments.

⁶ I stretch forth my hands to thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

⁴ Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe to us! for the day departeth, for the shadows of the evening are lengthened.

⁵ And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.

⁴ Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped your fields, which is by you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them who have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

⁷ But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.

² Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;

³¹ Yet wilt thou plunge me in the ditch, and my own clothes shall abhor me.

¹⁴ I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.

²⁶ And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

⁵ (38:4)For my iniquities have gone over my head: as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me. ⁶ (38:5)My wounds are offensive, and are corrupt because of my foolishness. ⁷ (38:6)I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.

⁶ From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

¹¹ Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.

²⁴ And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring to all flesh.

⁴³ And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings in which ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.

²³ And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten by worms, and died.

²¹ The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a storm hurleth him out of his place.

¹⁵ If I be wicked, woe to me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou my affliction;

¹³ Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.

⁶ Though I speak, my grief is not assuaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased?

³ Suffer me that I may speak; and after I have spoken, mock on. ⁴ As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?

²⁵ And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.

³ (39:2)I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.

⁹ (40:8)I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

²⁰ Are not my days few? cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,

³³ Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.

⁸ And it came to pass, when the sun rose that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

⁵ Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

³⁴ Therefore now go, lead the people to the place of which I have spoken to thee: Behold, my angel shall go before thee: Nevertheless, in the day when I visit, I will visit their sin upon them.

¹⁶ Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end.

¹⁴ They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.

⁷ Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?

¹⁰ Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

⁹ And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people; and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

⁷ That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though tried with fire, might be found to praise, and honor, and glory, at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

¹⁸ He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.

³ (6:2)Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are agitated.

How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? ² How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall my enemy be exalted over me? ³ Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

³ LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?

¹⁰ And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

⁶ Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are in it, the seas, and all that is in them, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshipeth thee.

²⁴ For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.

⁴ For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison of which drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God set themselves in array against me.

¹¹ Therefore I will not restrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul. ¹² Am I a sea, or a whale, that thou settest a watch over me?

²⁹ If I am wicked, why then do I labor in vain? ³⁰ If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean; ³¹ Yet wilt thou plunge me in the ditch, and my own clothes shall abhor me.

²⁶ For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.

¹⁶ For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?

¹² I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark. ¹³ His archers encompass me; he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground. ¹⁴ He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.

⁵ Is not thy wickedness great? and thy iniquities infinite?

³³ If I have covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding my iniquity in my bosom:

⁹ I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.

²⁷ He looketh upon men, and if any shall say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;

⁶ If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions are multiplied, what doest thou to him?

¹⁰ And David's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said to the LORD, I have sinned greatly in what I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O LORD, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

¹³ For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,

⁸ The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more: thy eyes are upon me, and I am not.

¹⁴ If I sin, then thou markest me, and thou wilt not acquit me from my iniquity.

²³ How many are my iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin. ²⁴ Why hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thy enemy?

³² Yet he shall be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb. ³³ The clods of the valley will be sweet to him, and every man will draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.

¹⁵ As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

⁷ Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return to God who gave it.

¹⁹ Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

⁹ (64:10)Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.

⁴² We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned. ⁴³ Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied. ⁴⁴ Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.

²⁰ Why dost thou forget us for ever, and forsake us so long time? ²¹ Turn thou us to thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old. ²² But thou hast utterly rejected us; thou art very wroth against us.

² And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

² (14:1)O Israel, return to the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thy iniquity.

¹⁸ Who is a God like to thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. ¹⁹ He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

²⁹ The next day John seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world.

¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

⁵ And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
