And the blood shall be forgiven them. ⁹ So shalt thou remove the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD. ¹⁰ When thou goest forth to war against thy enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thy hands, and thou hast taken them captive, ¹¹ And thou seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire to her, that thou wouldest have her for thy wife: ¹² Then thou shalt bring her home to thy house, and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails: ¹³ And she shall put off from her the raiment of her captivity, and shall remain in thy house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that, thou shalt go in to her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife. ¹⁴ And it shall be, if thou shalt have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money; thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her. ¹⁵ If a man shall have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have borne him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the first-born son be hers that was hated: ¹⁶ Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not prefer the son of the beloved first-born, before the son of the hated, which is indeed the first-born: ¹⁷ But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the first-born, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the first-born is his. ¹⁸ If a man shall have a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and who, when they have chastened him, will not hearken to them: ¹⁹ Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out to the elders of his city, and to the gate of his place; ²⁰ And they shall say to the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. ²¹ And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he may die: so shalt thou remove evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear, and fear. ²² And if a man shall have committed a sin worthy of death, and he must be put to death, and thou shalt hang him on a tree: ²³ His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land may not be defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

¹⁷ A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

²¹ For behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

⁴ And when the barbarians saw the animal hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

¹⁸ Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment. ¹⁹ Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift; for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.

³ For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power; do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise from the same: ⁴ For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou doest that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, an avenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

² This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, in which is no blemish, and upon which never came a yoke:

¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God.

²⁸ Come to me, all ye that labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me: for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest to your souls. ³⁰ For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

⁸ And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross.

²¹ For even to this were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: ²² Who committed no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: ²³ Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: ²⁴ Who himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live to righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.

¹⁸ For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit:

²² And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ²³ Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying to them, ²⁴ The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: ²⁵ The LORD make his face to shine upon thee, and be gracious to thee: ²⁶ The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. ²⁷ And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

⁸ At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to him, and to bless in his name, to this day.

⁸ If there shall arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within thy gates: then shalt thou arise, and go up to the place which the LORD thy God shall choose; ⁹ And thou shalt come to the priests the Levites, and to the judge that shall be in those days, and inquire; and they shall show thee the sentence of judgment: ¹⁰ And thou shalt do according to the sentence, which they of that place which the LORD shall choose shall show thee; and thou shalt observe to do according to all that they inform thee: ¹¹ According to the sentence of the law which they shall teach thee, and according to the judgment which they shall tell thee, thou shalt do: thou shalt not decline from the sentence which they shall show thee, to the right hand, nor to the left. ¹² And the man that will do presumptuously, and will not hearken to the priest that standeth to minister there before the LORD thy God, or to the judge, even that man shall die: and thou shalt remove the evil from Israel.

⁵ For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever.

¹⁷ Then both the men between whom the controversy is shall stand before the LORD, before the priests, and the judges, who shall be in those days;

¹³ The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister to him, and to bless in his name for ever.

⁷ For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

³⁰ If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;

¹⁰ Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

¹⁹ And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say to the woman, If no man hath lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of thy husband, be thou free from this bitter water that causeth the curse: ²⁰ But if thou hast gone aside to another instead of thy husband, and if thou art defiled, and some man hath lain with thee besides thy husband: ²¹ Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say to the woman, The LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD doth make thy thigh to perish, and thy belly to swell; ²² And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to perish. And the woman shall say, Amen, amen. ²³ And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out with the bitter water: ²⁴ And he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that causeth the curse: and the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter. ²⁵ Then the priest shall take the jealousy-offering out of the woman's hand, and shall wave the offering before the LORD, and offer it upon the altar: ²⁶ And the priest shall take a handful of the offering, even the memorial of it, and burn it upon the altar, and afterward shall cause the woman to drink the water. ²⁷ And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she is defiled, and hath done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall perish: and the woman shall be a curse among her people. ²⁸ And if the woman is not defiled, but is clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.

⁸ The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.

²¹ For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst? ²² Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high. ²³ One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

³¹ Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done? ³² Yet he shall be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb. ³³ The clods of the valley will be sweet to him, and every man will draw after him, as there are innumerable before him. ³⁴ How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood?

³ (7:2)Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver. ⁴ (7:3)O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there is iniquity in my hands;

³³ So ye shall not pollute the land in which ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed in it, but by the blood of him that shed it. ³⁴ Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, in which I dwell: for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel.

²⁸ And afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:

⁴ And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.

¹⁵ But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye will surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, upon this city, and upon its inhabitants: for of a truth the LORD hath sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.

³ And they committed lewd deeds in Egypt; they committed lewd deeds in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they were first corrupted.

²⁴ And they shall come against thee with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee buckler and shield and helmet on every side: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments. ²⁵ And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thy ears; and thy remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire.

¹⁴ Wherefore they cried to the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee.

³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel, to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: ¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

¹⁸ When thou shalt hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.

¹² Then the elders of his city shall send and bring him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die. ¹³ Thy eye shall not pity him, but thou shall remove the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may be well with thee.

³⁰ And the LORD said to Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in my eyes, and hast done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in my heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel. ³¹ But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, who made Israel to sin.

¹⁰ When thou comest nigh to a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace to it. ¹¹ And it shall be, if it shall make thee answer of peace, and open to thee, then it shall be, that all the people that are found therein, shall be tributaries to thee, and they shall serve thee. ¹² And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it: ¹³ And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thy hands, thou shalt smite every male of it with the edge of the sword: ¹⁴ But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil of it, shalt thou take to thyself: and thou shalt eat the spoil of thy enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee. ¹⁵ Thus shalt thou do to all the cities which are very distant from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations. ¹⁶ But of the cities of these people which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth:

And Samson said to his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.

²⁵ Lust not after her beauty in thy heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.

¹⁰ Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

³⁰ Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

⁹ But it shall be on the seventh day, that he shall shave all his hair off his head, and his beard, and his eye-brows, even all his hair he shall shave off; and he shall wash his clothes, also he shall wash his flesh in water, and he shall be clean.

⁹ And if any man shall die very suddenly by him, and he hath defiled the head of his consecration; then he shall shave his head in the day of his cleansing, on the seventh day shall he shave it.

⁶ For if the woman is not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it is a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered.

²² That ye put off concerning the former manner of life the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts:

³⁶ He smote also all the first-born in their land, the chief of all their strength.

¹² Honor thy father and thy mother; that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

¹⁵ And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.

¹⁷ And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.

³ Ye shall fear every man his mother and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.

⁹ And the daughter of any priest, if she shall profane herself by lewdness, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

⁵ Thou shalt also consider in thy heart, that as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.

¹⁶ Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother: and all the people shall say, Amen.

¹⁴ I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he shall commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

⁸ My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

²⁴ He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

⁵ A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.

¹⁸ Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

²⁰ Whoever curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

¹⁵ Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

¹³ Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. ¹⁴ Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

²⁴ He that robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.

¹⁷ Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yes, he shall give delight to thy soul.

¹¹ There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.

¹⁷ The eye that mocketh at its father, and despiseth to obey its mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

² Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

⁵ Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

³ O LORD, are not thy eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

⁷ In thee have they set light by father and mother: in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in thee have they oppressed the fatherless and the widow.

¹³ In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.

¹¹ I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a fire-brand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned to me, saith the LORD. ¹² Therefore thus will I do to thee, O Israel: and because I will do this to thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.

¹ Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. ² Honor thy father and mother (which is the first commandment with promise) ³ That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

⁹ Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh who corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live? ¹⁰ For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. ¹¹ Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless, afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness to them who are exercised by it.

¹⁸ Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment.

² Then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure to the cities which are around him that is slain:

⁷ And if the man shall not like to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate to the elders, and say, My husband's brother refuseth to raise up to his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband's brother.

³ And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say to him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.

²⁶ He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

¹ Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whoever is deceived by it is not wise.

¹⁹ Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thy heart in the way. ²⁰ Be not among wine-bibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: ²¹ For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.

²⁹ Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? ³⁰ They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. ³¹ Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth its color in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. ³² At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. ³³ Thy eyes shall behold strange women, and thy heart shall utter perverse things. ³⁴ And thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. ³⁵ They have stricken me, wilt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

¹⁶ And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.

⁵ And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou remove the evil from the midst of thee.

¹⁰ And thou shalt stone him with stones that he shall die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt from the house of bondage. ¹¹ And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is, among you.

⁵ Then shalt thou bring forth to thy gates that man or that woman, who have committed that wicked thing, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.

¹⁹ Then shall ye do to him, as he had thought to do to his brother: so shalt thou remove the evil from among you. ²⁰ And those who remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.

²¹ Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she may die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to be guilty of lewdness in her father's house: so shalt thou remove evil from among you.

⁴ And the LORD said to Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.

⁶ Lest the avenger of blood shall pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.

²⁶ But to the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:

¹⁶ This thing is not good that thou hast done. As the LORD liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept your master the LORD'S anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his bolster.

¹² And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth, and buried it in the sepulcher of Abner in Hebron.

⁶ Let seven men of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them up to the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD chose. And the king said, I will give them.

⁹ And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the hill before the LORD: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.

⁶⁶ What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

⁶⁴ Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

³³ And when they had come to the place which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors; one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

³¹ The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath, (for that sabbath was a great day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. ³² Then came the soldiers, and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him. ³³ But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they broke not his legs: ³⁴ But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came out blood and water. ³⁵ And he that saw it, testified, and his testimony is true: and he knoweth that he speaketh truth, that ye may believe. ³⁶ For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. ³⁷ And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced. ³⁸ And after this, Joseph of Arimathea (being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews) besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore and took the body of Jesus.

²⁹ Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death, or of bonds.

¹¹ For if I am an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there is none of these things of which these accuse me, no man may deliver me to them. I appeal to Cesar.

²⁵ But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

³¹ And when they had gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death, or of bonds.

²⁵ And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit its iniquity upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

²⁶ Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thy house, lest thou shouldst be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

³ For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ, for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

²² If any man loveth not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema, Maran-atha.

²¹ For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

¹³ Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Accursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
