²¹ Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come follow me”.

¹⁹ And He says to them, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men”.

¹⁹ Therefore, whoever annuls one of the least of these commandments and teaches that to the people will be called least in the kingdom of the heavens; but whoever does and teaches them, he will be called great in the kingdom of the heavens. ²⁰ For I say to you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees you will absolutely not enter the kingdom of the heavens!

⁴⁸ Therefore, you be perfect just as your Father in the heavens is perfect.

¹⁹ “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust ruin and where thieves break in and steal; ²⁰ but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust ruins and where thieves neither break in nor steal;

²² But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”

⁹ And going on from there Jesus saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and He says to him, “Follow me”. So getting up he followed Him.

²⁴ Then Jesus said to His disciples: “If anyone desires to come after me, let him really deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

²⁸ So Jesus said to them: “Assuredly I say to you that in the Regeneration, when the Son of the Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

¹⁴ As He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office, and He said to him, “Follow me”. So he got up and followed Him.

³⁴ He summoned the crowd, along with His disciples, and said to them: “Whoever wants to follow along behind me must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

²¹ Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him: “One thing you lack; go, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, take up the cross, and follow me.”

²⁷ After these things He went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax office; and He said to him, “Follow me!”

⁴⁰ A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.

²³ Then He said to everyone: “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross, and follow me.

³³ Sell your possessions and give to charity. Make for yourselves ‘purses’ that will not wear out, an unfailing treasure in the heavens, where a thief cannot approach, nor a moth destroy.

³³ “So likewise, any of you who does not renounce all his own possessions cannot be my disciple.

⁹ “I even say to you, make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous mammon, so that whenever you fail, they may receive you into the eternal dwellings!

²² Well upon hearing these things Jesus said to him, “You still lack one thing: sell all you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

²⁶ If anyone would serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, my servant will be too. Further, if anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

⁴⁵ they started selling both possessions and goods and were distributing to all according as anyone had need.

³² Now the multitude of those who believed was of one heart and soul; indeed not one was saying that any of his belongings was his own, but they had all things in common. ³³ (Also the Apostles were giving witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus with great power.) Yes, great grace was on them all, ³⁴ because there weren’t any needy among them—as many as were owners of lands or houses were selling them and bringing the proceeds of the sold items ³⁵ and placing them at the Apostles’ feet, and they were distributed to each according as anyone had need.

¹² —not that I have already obtained it or have already been perfected; but I press on to actually claim that for which Christ Jesus claimed me. ¹³ Brothers, I do not consider that I have already claimed it, but this: forgetting the things behind and straining toward those ahead, ¹⁴ I press on toward the goal for the prize, the upward call from God because of Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ So then, those of us who are mature should have this mentality, but if on some point you think differently, God will reveal that to you as well.

¹⁷ Command those who are rich in this present world not to be haughty, nor to rely upon the uncertainty of riches but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy; ¹⁸ they are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous sharers ¹⁹ —storing up for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, so that they may lay hold on the eternal life.

³⁴ Indeed, you also shared in the suffering of my chains; you even accepted the plundering of your possessions with joy, knowing that you have for yourselves a better and enduring possession in the heavens.
