⁴ Therefore whoever will humble himself like this little child, he is the greater in the kingdom of the heavens.

¹ At that time the disciples approached Jesus saying, “Who then is greater in the kingdom of the heavens?”

²⁶ but it must not be so among you. Rather, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, ²⁷ and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave;

¹¹ On the contrary, the greatest among you must be your servant. ¹² And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

⁴³ But it must not be so among you, but whoever desires to become great among you must be your servant,

⁴⁸ and said to them: “Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me receives Him who sent me. Further, he who is least among all of you, he will be great.”

¹¹ Because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

¹⁰ Humble yourself before the Lord and He will exalt you.

⁵ Similarly, you younger ones, submit to elders. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility, submitting to one another, because ‘God resists proud ones, but gives grace to humble ones’.
