⁴⁵ And upon entering the temple He began to drive out those who were selling and buying in it,

¹² Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all who were selling and buying in the temple, and He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold the doves. ¹³ And He says to them, “It is written, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer’, but you have made it ‘a cave of bandits’.”

¹⁵ So they came to Jerusalem, and entering the temple Jesus began to drive out those who sold and bought in the temple, and He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of the dove sellers. ¹⁶ And He would not allow anyone to carry a container through the temple. ¹⁷ And He kept teaching them by saying: “Is it not written, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? but you have made it ‘a den of robbers’!”

¹³ Now the Jewish Passover was near, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem. ¹⁴ And in the Temple He found people selling oxen and sheep and doves, also the moneychangers at work. ¹⁵ When He had made a scourge out of cords, He drove all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and as for the moneychangers, He overturned the tables and scattered the coins. ¹⁶ And to the dove-sellers He said, “Get these things out of here! Stop turning my Father’s House into a marketplace!” ¹⁷ Then His disciples remembered that it stands written, “Zeal for Your House consumes me.”
