²⁶ Was it really not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into His glory?”

⁴⁶ And He said to them: “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,

³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also.

¹⁷ which things are but a shadow of those to come, while the body is Christ’s.

⁵ who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things (that is why Moses was warned by God when he was ready to assemble the Tabernacle: “See to it,” He says, “that you make everything according to the pattern shown to you on the mountain”)—

⁹ It was a figure during the time then present, a time when both gifts and sacrifices were being offered that were incapable of clearing the conscience of the worshipper— ¹⁰ they were only about foods and drinks and various ceremonial washings and physical regulations, things imposed until the time of restructuring. ¹¹ But Christ entered once for all into the real Holy Places, having obtained eternal redemption—He had come as High Priest of the good things that are about to be, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation, ¹² and with His own blood, not that of goats and calves.

¹⁴ how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the Holy Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

²⁴ For Christ did not enter into Holy Places made by hands, mere copies of the true ones, but into Heaven itself, now to appear in God’s presence on our behalf;

¹ You see, the Law is but a shadow of the good things to come, not their actual matter, so it can never perfect those who approach with the same sacrifices that they offer endlessly, year after year.

⁴ because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

¹⁰ By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. ¹¹ Now every priest has stood ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices that can never take away sins; ¹² but He Himself, having offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, sat down at God’s right. ¹³ Since that time He is waiting until His enemies are placed as a footstool for His feet, ¹⁴ because by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. ¹⁵ Now the Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this, after having foreseen it: ¹⁶ “‘This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days,’ says the LORD, ‘I will put my laws on their hearts and I will write them on their minds, ¹⁷ and I will not at all remember their sins and lawless deeds.’”

¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a faultless and pure lamb; ²⁰ who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake, ²¹ who through Him are believing into God, who raised Him out from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are into God.

⁹ And they sing a new song saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals; because You were slaughtered, and have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every tribe and language and people and ethnic nation;
