²⁴ What a wretched man I am! Who will deliver me out of the body of this death?

²⁶ but to the lady you shall do nothing. There is in the lady no sin worthy of death; for as when a man rises against his neighbor and kills him, even so is this matter; ²⁷ for he found her in the field, the pledged to be married lady cried, and there was no one to save her.

³⁸ whatever prayer and supplication is made by any man, or by all your people Israel, who shall each know the plague of his own heart, and spread out his hands toward this house,

⁶ I am weary with my groaning. Every night I flood my bed. I drench my couch with my tears.

³ When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. ⁴ For day and night your hand was heavy on me. My strength was sapped in the heat of summer. Selah.

² For your arrows have pierced me, your hand presses hard on me.

⁸ I am faint and severely bruised. I have groaned by reason of the anguish of my heart. ⁹ Lord, all my desire is before you. My groaning is not hidden from you. ¹⁰ My heart throbs. My strength fails me. As for the light of my eyes, it has also left me.

¹¹ saying, “God has forsaken him. Pursue and take him, for no one will rescue him.”

¹² For he will deliver the needy when he cries; the poor, who has no helper.

³ I remember God, and I groan. I complain, and my spirit is overwhelmed. Selah. ⁴ You hold my eyelids open. I am so troubled that I can’t speak. ⁵ I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. ⁶ I remember my song in the night. I consider in my own heart; my spirit diligently inquires: ⁷ “Will the Lord reject us forever? Will he be favorable no more? ⁸ Has his loving kindness vanished forever? Does his promise fail for generations? ⁹ Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he, in anger, withheld his compassion?” Selah.

⁵ set apart among the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more. They are cut off from your hand.

¹⁴ “Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name. ¹⁵ He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him.

²⁰ to hear the groans of the prisoner; to free those who are condemned to death;

²⁰ My soul is consumed with longing for your ordinances at all times.

⁸¹ KAF My soul faints for your salvation. I hope in your word. ⁸² My eyes fail for your word. I say, “When will you comfort me?” ⁸³ For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke. I don’t forget your statutes.

¹³¹ I opened my mouth wide and panted, for I longed for your commandments.

¹⁴³ Trouble and anguish have taken hold of me. Your commandments are my delight.

¹⁷⁶ I have gone astray like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I don’t forget your commandments.

¹ A Song of Ascents. Out of the depths I have cried to you, Yahweh. ² Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions. ³ If you, Yah, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?

⁴ Yahweh said to him, “Go through the middle of the city, through the middle of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry over all the abominations that are done within it.”

¹⁹ He will again have compassion on us. He will tread our iniquities under foot; and you will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

¹¹ As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant, I have set free your prisoners from the pit in which is no water. ¹² Turn to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope! Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.

⁴ Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

¹⁸ “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed,

⁶ knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.

² For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.

¹³ For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

²⁶ In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.

⁸ For we don’t desire to have you uninformed, brothers, concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life. ⁹ Yes, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead, ¹⁰ who delivered us out of so great a death, and does deliver; on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;

⁷ By reason of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, that I should not be exalted excessively, a thorn in the flesh was given to me: a messenger of Satan to torment me, that I should not be exalted excessively. ⁸ Concerning this thing, I begged the Lord three times that it might depart from me. ⁹ He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

¹¹ In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ,

¹⁸ And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me for his heavenly Kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works. ¹⁵ and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

⁴ He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away.”
