¹⁶ The labor of the righteous leads to life. The increase of the wicked leads to sin.

¹⁸ Wicked people earn deceitful wages, but one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward. ¹⁹ He who is truly righteous gets life. He who pursues evil gets death.

³⁰ The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life. He who is wise wins souls.

¹⁰ Tell the righteous “Good!” For they shall eat the fruit of their deeds. ¹¹ Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them; for the deeds of his hands will be paid back to him.

¹⁷ Even so, every good tree produces good fruit; but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit. ¹⁸ A good tree can’t produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit.

³³ “Either make the tree good, and its fruit good, or make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by its fruit. ³⁴ You offspring of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

¹⁹ For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.

²⁷ Don’t work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him.”

²³ For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

⁵⁸ Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

⁷ Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. ⁸ For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. ⁹ Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up.

¹⁷ and those words will consume like gangrene, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus: ¹⁸ men who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past, and overthrowing the faith of some.

¹³ But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous, so as to forget your work and the labor of love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the saints, and still do serve them.
