²⁵ May it be far from you to do things like that, to kill the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be like the wicked. May that be far from you. Shouldn’t the Judge of all the earth do right?”

⁴ The Rock: his work is perfect, for all his ways are just. A God of faithfulness who does no wrong, just and right is he.

² “Hear my words, you wise men. Give ear to me, you who have knowledge. ³ For the ear tries words, as the palate tastes food.

³⁴ Men of understanding will tell me, yes, every wise man who hears me:

²³ Who has prescribed his way for him? Or who can say, ‘You have committed unrighteousness?’

²³ We can’t reach the Almighty. He is exalted in power. In justice and great righteousness, he will not oppress.

³² He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.

³² He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.

¹ You are righteous, Yahweh, when I contend with you; yet I would like to reason the cause with you. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are they all at ease who deal very treacherously?

⁴ May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar. As it is written, “that you might be justified in your words, and might prevail when you come into judgment.” ⁵ But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what will we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? I speak like men do.

¹⁴ What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? May it never be!

¹³ Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.
