¹² “Behold, I will answer you. In this you are not just, for God is greater than man.

²² In all this, Job didn’t sin, nor charge God with wrongdoing.

⁴ God is wise in heart, and mighty in strength. Who has hardened himself against him and prospered?

¹⁴ Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways. How small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?”

¹⁷ I also will answer my part, and I also will show my opinion.

¹⁰ “Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity. ¹¹ For the work of a man he will render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways. ¹² Yes surely, God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice.

¹⁷ Should even one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty?— ¹⁸ Who says to a king, ‘Vile!’ or to nobles, ‘Wicked!’? ¹⁹ He doesn’t respect the persons of princes, nor respect the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands.

²³ For he doesn’t need to consider a man further, that he should go before God in judgment.

² “Do you think this to be your right, or do you say, ‘My righteousness is more than God’s,’

⁴ I will answer you, and your companions with you.

⁵ “Behold, God is mighty, and doesn’t despise anyone. He is mighty in strength of understanding.

²² Behold, God is exalted in his power. Who is a teacher like him? ²³ Who has prescribed his way for him? Or who can say, ‘You have committed unrighteousness?’

² “Shall he who argues contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.”

⁸ Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified? ⁹ Or do you have an arm like God? Can you thunder with a voice like him?

²⁰ Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and doesn’t sin.

⁶ “House of Israel, can’t I do with you as this potter?” says Yahweh. “Behold, as the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, house of Israel.

²⁵ “Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not equal.’ Hear now, house of Israel: Is my way not equal? Aren’t your ways unequal?

¹⁹ You will say then to me, “Why does he still find fault? For who withstands his will?” ²⁰ But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed ask him who formed it, “Why did you make me like this?” ²¹ Or hasn’t the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel for honor, and another for dishonor?
