⁶ My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and are spent without hope.

²⁵ “Now my days are swifter than a runner. They flee away. They see no good. ²⁶ They have passed away as the swift ships, as the eagle that swoops on the prey.

⁹ A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps.

¹⁰ I said, “In the middle of my life I go into the gates of Sheol. I am deprived of the residue of my years.”

³⁷ Who is he who says, and it comes to pass, when the Lord doesn’t command it?

¹³ Now I don’t desire to have you unaware, brothers, that I often planned to come to you, and was hindered so far, that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among the rest of the Gentiles.

¹⁵ In this confidence, I was determined to come first to you, that you might have a second benefit, ¹⁶ and by you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and to be sent forward by you on my journey to Judea. ¹⁷ When I therefore was thus determined, did I show fickleness? Or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the “Yes, yes” and the “No, no?”

¹³ Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.” ¹⁴ Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. ¹⁵ For you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.”
