¹ The word of the LORD Almighty came to me. ² "Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'I am exceedingly jealous for Zion; I am jealous for it with great wrath.' ³ "This is what the LORD says: 'I will return to Zion and I will live in the midst of Jerusalem. And Jerusalem will be called "The City of Truth" and the mountain of the LORD of the Heavenly Armies will be called "The Holy Mountain".' ⁴ Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Old men and old women shall again sit in the public squares of Jerusalem, each with staff in hand because of great age. ⁵ and the streets of the city shall be filled with boys and girls playing in her streets. ⁶ Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Even if it seems impossible to the remnant of this people in those days, should it also seem impossible to me?' declares the LORD of hosts. ⁷ Thus said the LORD Almighty: "Behold! I will save my people from the land of the east and from the land of the west. ⁸ "I will bring them and they will live in Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness!" ⁹ "Thus sayeth the LORD of Hosts: let your hands be strong, ye that now hear these words by the mouth of the prophets which be in these days that the foundation is laid upon the LORD of Hosts' house, that the temple may be builded. ¹⁰ For before these days there were no wages for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in because of the enemy: for I set all men every one against his neighbor. ¹¹ But now I will not deal with the remnant of this people as in the former days,' declares the LORD of hosts. ¹² "For the seed of peace and the vine will yield its fruit, and the ground will give its increase, and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things. ¹³ And it will be, as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Do not fear, but let your hands be strong. ¹⁴ the LORD Almighty said: "I thought to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked me to anger. I have not relented," Said the LORD Almighty. ¹⁵ so again I have planned in these days to do good to Jerusalem and the house of Judah. Do not be afraid! ¹⁶ These are the things that ye do: Speak ye truth each with his neighbour, Truth and peaceful judgment judge in your gates, ¹⁷ Do not devise evil in your hearts against your neighbor, and do not love a false oath, because all these are things I hate," declares the LORD. ¹⁸ The word of the LORD of hosts came to me. ¹⁹ Thus says the LORD of hosts: "The fasts of the fourth fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace." ²⁰ Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come; ²¹ and the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to supplicate the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also. ²² And many peoples and powerful nations will come to seek Yahweh of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat ⌊the favor of⌋ Yahweh.' ²³ Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'In those days ten men from all the nations of every language will take hold of the hem of a Judean man, saying, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you!" '"

⁵⁸ And so they grieved him with their high places, and provoked him with their images. ⁵⁹ God heard and he was very angry and rejected Israel utterly.

¹³ The LORD will go out like a mighty man. He will stir up zeal like a man of war. He will raise a war cry. Yes, he will shout aloud. He will triumph over his enemies. ¹⁴ I have forever kept silence; I have been quiet and refrained Myself; I will groan like a woman in travail; I will pant and gasp at once.

¹⁷ He put on justice as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation upon his head: he put on the garments of vengeance, and was clad with zeal as with a cloak.

⁴ For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed has come. ⁵ I looked, and there was no one to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold. Therefore my own arm brought salvation to me. My own wrath upheld me. ⁶ "In my wrath I trampled on people. In my rage I made them drunk and poured their blood on the ground."

¹⁵ Look from heaven, and see from the lofty residence of your holiness and glory. Where are your zeal and strength? Your compassion and mercy to me hold themselves back.

⁵ therefore thus says lord LORD: Surely in the fire of my jealousy I have spoken against the residue of the nations, and against all Edom, who have appointed my land to themselves for a possession with the joy of all their heart, wit ⁶ Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and tell to the mountains and to the hills, to the rivers and to the valleys, Thus says the Sovereign LORD: Behold, I have spoken in My zeal and in My wrath, because you have borne the shame of the nations:

¹⁸ Then the LORD will be jealous for His land and have pity on His people.

² The LORD is a jealous God and avenges. The LORD avenges and is full of wrath. The LORD takes vengeance on his adversaries, and he maintains wrath against his enemies.

⁶ His indignation—who can stand before it? Who can endure his fierce anger? His wrath is poured out like fire; rocks are shattered before him.

¹⁴ And the angel who was talking with me said to me, "Proclaim, saying, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts: "I am very jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion! ¹⁵ I am very angry with the nations that are at ease; for I was but only a little angry, but they added to the calamity." ¹⁶ Therefore thus says the LORD: "I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy. My house will be built in it," says the LORD of hosts, "and a line shall be stretched forth over Jerusalem."'

²¹ How the faithful city has become a harlot! She who was full of justice! Righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers.

²⁶ And I will restore your judges as at first, and your counselors as at the beginning; afterwards you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.

² In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the highest of the mountains and exalted above the hills. All the nations will stream to it. ³ Then many people will come and say: "Let us go to the mountain of the LORD, to the House of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways so that we may live by them." The law will go out from Zion. The word of the LORD will go out from Jerusalem.

⁹ They will not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

⁶ "Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you."

¹⁴ "The sons of those who oppress you will bow in front of you. All who loathe you will bow at your feet. They will call you the city of the LORD, Zion, the city of the Holy One of Israel.

²⁵ The wolf and the lamb will feed together and the lion will eat straw like the ox and dust will be the serpent's food. They will not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, says the LORD.

²⁰ They will bring all your brothers from every nation like a grain offering to the LORD. They will come on horses, in chariots, in wagons, on mules and camels to my holy mountain, Jerusalem, declares the LORD. They will come like the people of Israel who bring their grain offerings in clean dishes to the LORD’s temple.

¹⁰ Therefore do not fear, O Jacob my servant, says the LORD, nor be dismayed, O Israel. For behold, I will save you from afar and your seed from the land of their captivity and Jacob will return and will be quiet and at ease and none will make him afraid. ¹¹ "I am with you. I will rescue you," declares the LORD. "I will completely destroy all the nations where I scattered you, but I will not completely destroy you. I will correct you with justice. I will not let you go entirely unpunished."

²³ This is what the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, the God of Israel, says: "They'll again speak this word in the land of Judah and its towns when I restore their fortunes, 'The LORD bless you, righteous dwelling, holy mountain.'

¹⁶ In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell safely. This is the name by which she will be called: the LORD our righteousness.”

³⁵ A perimeter shall measure 18,000 units, and the name of the city from that time on shall be 'THE LORD IS THERE.'"

¹⁷ "And truly you will know that I am the LORD your God, dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain. Then Jerusalem will be holy, and no foreigners will invade her again.

²¹ And I will pardon their bloodguilt, which I have not pardoned, for the LORD dwells in Zion."

¹⁶ Therefore thus says the LORD: "I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy. My house will be built in it," says the LORD of hosts, "and a line shall be stretched forth over Jerusalem."'

¹⁰ Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion. For, lo, I come; and I will dwell among you, says the LORD. ¹¹ "Many nations will join themselves to the LORD in that day, and will be my people! I will dwell in the your midst, and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you."

²⁰ In that day there will be on the bells of the horses, HOLY TO the LORD; and the pots in the LORD's house will be like the bowls before the altar. ²¹ Yes, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be holy to the LORD of hosts; and all those who sacrifice will come and take of them, and cook in them. In that day there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts.

¹⁴ The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

²³ Jesus replied. "If any loves me he will obey my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

¹⁶ What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.”

²¹ in whom the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord; ²² And in Him you too are being built together into a dwelling place for God in His Spirit.

⁹ For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity dwells in bodily form.

³ And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God.

¹⁰ And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,

²⁷ But nothing impure shall enter into it, nor shall any man who commits shameful acts, or who lies: but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.

³¹ The days are coming when I will cut off your arm and the arm of your father's house so that there shall not be an old man in your house.

²⁶ You shall come to the grave in full vigor, like a stack of grain comes up in its season.

¹⁷ And Job died, old and full of days.

²⁰ "Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years. He who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth. The sinner who reaches a hundred will be considered accursed. ²¹ "They will build houses and dwell in them. They will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. ²² "No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people. My chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands.

²⁰ ( ψ - [Resh.]) Look, LORD, and take note: To whom you've done this? Should women eat their offspring, the children they have cuddled? Should priests and prophets be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord? ²¹ The youth and the old man lie on the ground in the streets; my virgins and my young men have fallen by the sword. You have killed them in the day of your anger; you have slaughtered, without pity. ²² You have summoned my horror from all around, as if for a feast day; no one on the day of the LORD's anger is a fugitive and a survivor; whoever I have cared for and reared, my enemy has destroyed.

¹¹ Women have they ravished in Zion, virgins, in the cities of Judah. ¹² Princes were hung by their hands; elders were shown no respect. ¹³ The young men grind at the mill; the boys stagger under loads of wood. ¹⁴ The elders have gone from the gate, the young men from their music. ¹⁵ The joy of our heart ceased; our dance was turned to mourning.

²² But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the joyful assembly

³ Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house. Your children will be like olive shoots about your table. ⁴ Look, thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD.

¹² Then our sons will be like well-nurtured plants, our daughters like pillars carved to adorn a palace. ¹³ Our barns will be full, filled with all kinds of provision; our sheep will bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields. ¹⁴ Our oxen will pull heavy loads, there will be no breaking in and no going away, and no crying in our streets. ¹⁵ Blessed are the people who have it thus. Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.

¹⁹ And from them will go out praise and the sound of laughing: and I will make them great in number, and they will not become less; and I will give them glory, and they will not be small. ²⁰ Their children will be as they were before, and their congregation will be established before me. I'll punish all who oppress them.

¹³ The virgins will rejoice with dancing together with young men and old men. For I'll turn their mourning into joy, and I'll comfort them and give them gladness instead of sorrow.

²⁷ "Look, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "and I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of humankind, and with the seed of animals.

¹¹ "Yes, you will hear the sounds of joy and happiness and the sounds of brides and grooms. You will hear those who bring thank offerings to the LORD's Temple."' "'They will say: Give thanks to the LORD Almighty because the LORD is good, because his mercy endures forever. I will restore the prosperity of the land to what they were before,"' says the LORD.

¹⁹ Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches! Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift up your hands toward him for the life of your young children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street.

⁴ and said to him, "Run, speak to this young man, saying, 'Jerusalem will be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it.

¹⁶ To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: ¹⁷ 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.'

¹⁴ Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the set time I will return to you, when the season comes round and Sarah will have a son.

²² "Could enough cattle and sheep even be killed to satisfy them? Are all the fish in the sea enough for them? ²³ The LORD said to Moses, "Has the LORD's hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not."

² The personal attendant of the king said to Elisha: "If the LORD could make floodgates in the heavens could this happen?" Elisha replied: "You will see it with your own eyes. But you will not eat from it."

²³ From the LORD came this; It is marvelous in our eyes.

¹ When the LORD brought back those who returned to Zion, we were like those who dream. 2 Then our mouths were filled with laughter, and our tongues formed joyful shouts. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." ³ The LORD has done great things for us, and we are glad.

¹⁷ Ah, Sovereign LORD! You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and stretched out arm. Nothing is too great for You.

²⁷ Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?

²⁰ And now you will be silent and unable to speak until the day this comes to pass, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time.”

³⁷ for nothing is impossible with God.

²⁷ But he said, What is impossible with men is possible with God.

²⁰ Yet he did not waver through disbelief in the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, ²¹ being fully persuaded that God was able to do what He had promised.

¹⁹ I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to escalating wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness. ²⁰ For when you were the slaves of sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. ²¹ What fruit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? The outcome of those things is death.

¹ The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks, and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.

² Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He redeemed from the hand of the foe; ³ and gathered from the lands, from east and from west, from north and from south.

³ From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised.

¹¹ It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. ¹² And he will erect a standard for the nations, and gather together the outcasts of Israel, and assemble the dispersed of Juda from the four quarters of the earth. ¹³ Then the jealousy of Ephraim will depart. Those who harass Judah will be destroyed. Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, and Judah will not harass Ephraim. ¹⁴ They will swoop down on the slopes of the Philistines on the west. Together they will plunder the sons of the east. They will possess Edom and Moab, and the sons of Ammon will be subject to them. ¹⁵ the LORD will utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his scorching wind he will wave his hand over the River, and will split it into seven streams, and cause men to march over in sandals. ¹⁶ And there shall be a highway for the remnant of His people, those left from Assyria; as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

¹² In that day the LORD will thresh from the flowing Euphrates River to the Wadi (streambed) of Egypt. You, O Israelites, will be gathered up one by one. ¹³ A great trumpet will sound. Those who were perishing in Assyria and those who were exiled in Egypt will come and worship the LORD on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.

⁵ Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. I will bring your offspring from the east, and gather you from the west. ⁶ I will tell the north, 'Give them up!' and tell the south, 'Don't hold them back! Bring My sons from far, and My daughters from the ends of the earth--

¹² Lo, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim

¹⁹ That they may revere—From the West the name of the LORD, And from the Rising of the Sun his glory, For he will come in like a rushing stream, the breath of the LORD, driving it on;

¹⁹ "I will set up a sign among them and send some of their survivors to the nations: to Tarshish, Put and Lud, Meshech, Rosh, Tubal, Javan, and to the distant coastlands who have not heard of my fame or seen my glory. They will tell about my glory among the nations. ²⁰ They will bring all your brothers from every nation like a grain offering to the LORD. They will come on horses, in chariots, in wagons, on mules and camels to my holy mountain, Jerusalem, declares the LORD. They will come like the people of Israel who bring their grain offerings in clean dishes to the LORD’s temple.

⁸ Behold! I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the corners of the earth. Among them the blind, and the lame, the pregnant one, and the travailing one together, a great company shall return here.

¹⁹ Then say to them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will take Joseph's stick, which is in Ephraim's hand, and the tribes of Israel associated with it, and I will put them with Judah's stick. I will make them into one stick. They will be one in my hand."' ²⁰ When you hold the sticks in your hand, let the people see them. ²¹ "Tell them: 'The Sovereign LORD says: "I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from everywhere and bring them to their own land. ²² I will form them into one nation in the land on the mountains of Israel. One king will rule all of them. They will no longer be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms. ²³ They will no longer dishonor themselves with their idols, with their detestable things, or with their rebellious acts. I will forgive them for all the times they turned away from me and sinned. I will cleanse them so that they will be my people, and I will be their God. ²⁴ And my servant David will be king over them and they all will have one shepherd. They will also walk in my ordinances and observe my statutes and do them. ²⁵ "'"They will live in the land that I gave my servant Jacob, the land where their ancestors lived. They, their children, and their grandchildren will live in it for a very long time. My servant David will be their prince for a very long time.

¹⁰ "They will follow the LORD! He will roar like a lion. When he roars, his children will come trembling from the west. ¹¹ "They will come trembling like birds from Egypt, like doves from Assyria. I will settle them in their homes," declares the LORD.

¹⁴ I will surely restore my people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them. They will plant vineyards and drink the wine from them. They will plant gardens and eat the fruit from them. ¹⁵ I will plant the people of Israel in their own land, never again to be torn out of their land that I gave them," says the LORD your God.

¹¹ For from the east to the west, My name shall be great among the nations, and everywhere incense shall be offered to My name; and a pure food offering; for My name shall be great among the nations, says the LORD of hosts.

²⁵ I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. ²⁶ And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will remove godlessness from Jacob. ²⁷ And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins."

¹² I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you will be my people.

¹⁷ At that time they will call Jerusalem 'The Throne of the LORD,' and all the nations will be gathered to it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem, and they will no longer go after the stubbornness of their evil heart. ¹⁸ In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel, and together they'll come to the land that I gave your ancestors as an inheritance."

² -- and thou shalt in truth, in justice, and in righteousness swear, [As] the LORD liveth! and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

⁸ but they'll say, 'As surely as the LORD lives who brought the descendants of the Israelites from the land of the north and from all the lands where I had driven them and brought them into the land.' Then they'll live in their own land."

²² And you will be my people, and I will be your God.

¹ "At that time," declares the LORD, "I will be the God of all the clans of Israel, and they will be to me a people."

³³ "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days," says the LORD: "I will put my law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people:

³⁸ "They will be my people, and I will be their God. ³⁹ I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their good, and the good of their children after them.

⁴¹ I'll rejoice over them to do good for them, and I'll faithfully plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.

²⁰ that they may walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them. They will be my people, and I will be their God.

²⁸ You will dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers. You will be my people, and I will be your God.

²⁵ "'"They will live in the land that I gave my servant Jacob, the land where their ancestors lived. They, their children, and their grandchildren will live in it for a very long time. My servant David will be their prince for a very long time.

²⁷ "'"My dwelling place will be with them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

¹⁹ I will betroth you to me forever. Yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, in justice, in loving kindness, and in compassion. ²⁰ I will even betroth you to me in faithfulness and you will know the LORD. ²¹ It will happen in that day, I will respond," says the LORD, "I will respond to the heavens, and they will respond to the earth; ²² and the earth will respond to the grain, and the new wine, and the oil; and they will respond to Jezreel. ²³ I will plant my people in the land for myself. I will show mercy on her who has received no mercy I will say to those who are not my people, 'You are my people!' and they will say, 'You are my God.'"

²⁰ But Judah will be inhabited forever, and Jerusalem for all generations.

¹⁷ But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and it shall be holy: and the house of Jacob shall again possess their inheritances. ¹⁸ "The house of Jacob will be a fire! The house of Joseph will be a flame! The house of Esau will be for stubble and they will burn among them, and devour them. There will be no survivors of the house of Esau: for the LORD has spoken! ¹⁹ Those of the Negev will possess the mountain of Esau, and those of the lowland, the Philistines. They will possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria. Benjamin will possess Gilead. ²⁰ The exiles, the Israelite host, will possess the territory of the Canaanites all the way to Zarephath. The exiles of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad will possess the cities of the Negev. ²¹ Saviors will go up on Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom will be the LORD's.

¹⁴ Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ the LORD has turned off your judgments; He has turned away your enemy. the LORD, the King of Israel, is in your midst; you shall not fear evil any more. ¹⁶ In that day it will be said to Jerusalem, Do not fear, O Zion. Do not let your hands be slack. ¹⁷ The LORD your God in the midst of you is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over you with joy; he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. ¹⁸ I will remove those who grieve about the appointed feasts from you. They are a burden and a reproach to you. ¹⁹ Behold, at that time I will deal with all that afflict you: and I will save her that is lame, and gather those that were driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame. ²⁰ At that time I will bring you in, and at that time I will gather you; for I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes, says the LORD.

¹¹ "Many nations will join themselves to the LORD in that day, and will be my people! I will dwell in the your midst, and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you."

¹⁰ I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt, and gather them out of Assyria; and I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon; and there won’t be room enough for them.

⁹ And I will bring the remaining third into the fire, and I will refine them like one refines silver, and I will test them like one tests gold. They will call my name, and I will answer them. I will say, 'They are my people,' and they will say, 'the LORD is my God.'"

¹⁶ What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.” ¹⁷ Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you. ¹⁸ "I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty."

⁷ He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

⁶ Be strong and courageous; for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.

⁸ This set of instructions is not to cease being a part of your conversations. meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to carry out everything that's written in it, for then you'll prosper and succeed.

¹³ »You will have success if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws that the LORD gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.

²⁰ David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and courageous, and do it. Don't be afraid, nor be dismayed; for the LORD God, even my God, is with you. He will not fail you, nor forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.

¹ And the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel who was over them. ² Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, went to work building the house of God at Jerusalem. The prophets of God were with them, helping them.

⁴ Tell those who have a fearful heart, "Be strong. Do not be afraid. Look, your God will come with vengeance, God's retribution. He will come and save you.

¹ In the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month, on the first day, the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,

¹² Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD, their God, and the words of Haggai, the prophet, as the LORD, their God, had sent him; and the people feared the LORD.

⁴ Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,' says the LORD. 'Be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,' says the LORD, 'and work, for I am with you,' says the LORD of hosts. ⁵ with the Word by whom I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so My Spirit remains among you; do not fear. ⁶ For this is what the LORD of Armies says: 'Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land; ⁷ And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of hosts. ⁸ 'The silver is mine and the gold is mine,' declares the LORD of hosts. ⁹ The glory of this latter house shall be greater than that of the former, says the LORD of Hosts. And in this place I will give peace, says the LORD of Hosts.

²¹ "Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, 'I will shake the heavens and the earth.

¹³ And it will be, as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Do not fear, but let your hands be strong.

¹⁸ The word of the LORD of hosts came to me.

¹⁰ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.

¹ You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

⁶ "In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were deserted. Travelers used the back roads. ⁷ The leaders ceased in Israel; they ceased until I, Deborah, arose; I arose as a mother in Israel.

¹¹ Far from the noise of archers, in the watering places, there they will recite the righteous acts of the LORD, the righteous acts of His rule in Israel. Then the people of the LORD went down to the gates.

⁵ "No one could come and go in peace at that time. This is because everyone living in the land had a lot of turmoil. ⁶ And nation was beaten by nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every distress. ⁷ But you be strong, and don't let your hands be slack; for your work will be rewarded.”

² "I will stir up Egyptian against Egyptian. Brother will fight against brother, neighbor against neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.

¹⁶ "I'm about to send many fishermen, declares the LORD, and they'll catch them. Afterwards, I'll send for many hunters and they'll hunt for them on every mountain and hill and in the crevices of the rocks.

⁶ "Will the trumpet be blown in a city and the people not be afraid? Will disaster happen to a city and the LORD not cause it?

⁴ Though they go into captivity before their enemies, there I will command the sword, and it will kill them. I will set my eyes on them for evil, and not for good.

⁶ "You sow much and reap little. You eat but you do not have enough! You drink and yet you are not filled. You clothe yourselves but you are not warm. You earns wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it." ⁷ This is what the Lord of armies has said: Give thought to your ways. ⁸ Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house: that I may take pleasure in it, and be glorified, saith the Lord. ⁹ "You looked for much, and, look, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?" says the LORD of hosts, "Because of my house that lies waste, while each of you is busy with his own house. ¹⁰ Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld the dew and the earth has withheld its produce. ¹¹ I called for a drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on that which the ground produces, on men, on livestock, and on all the labor of the hands.”

¹⁶ How, when anyone came to a store of twenty measures, there were only ten: when anyone went to the wine-store to get fifty vessels full, there were only twenty. ¹⁷ I struck you with blight, mildew, and hail in all the work of your hands; yet you did not turn to me,' says the LORD. ¹⁸ "'Pay attention from now on, from this twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, when the foundation of the LORD's temple was laid. Pay attention!

³⁴ "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword. ³⁵ For I have come to turn ‘A man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. ³⁶ A man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'

⁹ He will not always chasten, nor will he keep his anger forever.

¹³ Then the jealousy of Ephraim will depart. Those who harass Judah will be destroyed. Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, and Judah will not harass Ephraim.

¹ In that day you will say: "I will praise you, O LORD. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me.

¹⁹ Is the seed yet in the barn? Yea, the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not brought forth. From this day I will bless [you].

⁸ "I will bring them and they will live in Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness!" ⁹ "Thus sayeth the LORD of Hosts: let your hands be strong, ye that now hear these words by the mouth of the prophets which be in these days that the foundation is laid upon the LORD of Hosts' house, that the temple may be builded.

⁹ You are cursed under the curse the entire nation because you are robbing me!" ¹⁰ Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and test me now in this,” says the LORD of Armies, “if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there will not be room enough for. ¹¹ "I will not let insects destroy your crops. Your grapevines will produce abundantly.

¹² Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. the LORD blessed him.

²⁸ May God give you of the dew of heaven and of the fatness of the earth, and abundance of grain and new wine.

⁴ then I will give your rains in their season and the land will yield its increase and the trees of the field will yield their fruit. ⁵ Your threshing shall continue until the vintage, and the vintage shall continue until the sowing time. You shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.

⁴ The fruit of your body will be blessed and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beasts, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock. ⁵ Your basket and your kneading-trough will be blessed. ⁶ You shall be blessed when you come in, and blessed when you go out. ⁷ The LORD will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before you. They will come out against you one way, and will flee before you seven ways. ⁸ "the LORD will command the blessing upon you in your barns and in all that you put your hand to, and He will bless you in the land the LORD your God gives you. ⁹ "the LORD will establish you as a holy people to himself. He swore this to you, if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways. ¹⁰ And all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall fear you. ¹¹ the LORD will grant you abundant prosperity in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. ¹² the LORD will open to you his good treasure in the sky, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, and you will not borrow.

² May my teaching trickle like the dew, my words like rain showers on tender grass, and like spring showers on new growth.

¹³ »Blessed of the LORD is his land. Bless it with the dew from heaven above and with the deep waters lying below.

²⁸ Israel shall dwell in safety alone, the fountain of Jacob in a land of grain and new wine. Yes, His heavens drop down dew.

¹ Elijah the Tishbite from Tishbe of Gilead said to Ahab, "As the LORD lives, the God of Israel before whom I stand, there shall surely not be dew nor rain these years except by my command."

⁶ The earth will yield her increase; God, our God, will bless us: ⁷ God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him.

³ The mountains shall bring prosperity to the people. The hills bring the fruit of righteousness.

⁹ Honor the LORD with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase: ¹⁰ So your barns will be filled with abundance, and your vats will burst open with new wine.

¹² The king's wrath is like the roaring of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.

²³ the LORD will give you rain for the seed that you plant in the ground, and the food that the ground provides will be rich and nourishing. When that day comes, your cattle will graze in large pastures.

⁷ "Instead of your shame there will be a double portion. Instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land. Everlasting joy will be theirs.

²⁶ And I will make them a blessing round about my hill: and I will send down the rain in its season, there shall be showers of blessing. ²⁷ The tree of the field will yield its fruit, and the earth will yield its increase, and they will be secure in their land. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bars of their yoke, and have delivered them out of the hand of those who made slaves of them.

¹² Yes, I will cause men to walk on you, even my people Israel. They will possess you, and you will be their inheritance, and you will never again bereave them of their children.”

³⁰ "'I will make fruit grow on the trees and crops grow in the fields so that you will no longer suffer disgrace among the nations because of famines.

⁵ I will be like the dew to Israel. He will blossom like the lily, and send down his roots like Lebanon.

²² Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field, for the pastures of the wilderness spring, for the tree bears its fruit, the fig tree and the vine yield their strength.

¹³ "Look! The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when the one who sows will overtake the harvester and the treader of grapes will overtake the planter. Fresh wine will drip down from the mountains, cascading down from the hills.

¹⁷ But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and it shall be holy: and the house of Jacob shall again possess their inheritances. ¹⁸ "The house of Jacob will be a fire! The house of Joseph will be a flame! The house of Esau will be for stubble and they will burn among them, and devour them. There will be no survivors of the house of Esau: for the LORD has spoken! ¹⁹ Those of the Negev will possess the mountain of Esau, and those of the lowland, the Philistines. They will possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria. Benjamin will possess Gilead. ²⁰ The exiles, the Israelite host, will possess the territory of the Canaanites all the way to Zarephath. The exiles of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad will possess the cities of the Negev.

⁶ In that day, says the LORD, I will gather the lame, and I will gather the banished, and the one I have afflicted. ⁷ "I will make the lame a remnant and the outcast far off a strong nation. the LORD will reign over them in mount Zion from now on and forever.

¹⁰ Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld the dew and the earth has withheld its produce.

⁶ Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Even if it seems impossible to the remnant of this people in those days, should it also seem impossible to me?' declares the LORD of hosts.

³³ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you as well.

²¹ So let no one boast in men; for all things .are yours:

¹⁸ Peacemakers who sow in peace reap the fruit of righteousness.

² "I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you. I will make your name great. You will be a blessing. ³ And I will bless those who bless you, and those who curse you I will curse. And all families of the earth will be blessed in you."

⁴ I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and will give all these lands to your offspring. In your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed,

³⁷ And you will become a wonder and a name of shame among all the nations where the Lord will take you.

²³ [that] the whole land of it is brimstone, and salt, [and] a burning, [that] it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which LORD overthrew in his anger, and i ²⁴ "All the nations will say: Why has the LORD done thus to this land? Why this great outburst of anger?' ²⁵ Then they will answer themselves, 'Because they've abandoned the covenant of their LORD, the God of their ancestors that he had made with them when he brought them out of Egypt. ²⁶ And they went and served other gods and bowed down to them, gods whom they did not know them and he had not allotted to them. ²⁷ Therefore the LORD's anger burned against this land, to bring on it all the curses that are written in this book. ²⁸ Yahweh rooted them out of their land in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation, and thrust them into another land, as it is today.”

¹¹ And all of the people who were at the gate and the elders said, "We are witnesses. May the LORD make the woman coming into your house as Rachel and as Leah, who together built the house of Israel. May you have strength in Ephrathah and bestow a name in Bethlehem. ¹² And let thy house be as the house of Phares, whom Thamar bore to Juda, of the seed which the Lord shall give thee of this handmaid.

⁷ then I will cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and I will cast this house, which I have made holy for my name, out of my sight; and Israel will be a proverb and a byword among all peoples. ⁸ Though this house is so high, yet everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss; and they will say, 'Why has the LORD done this to this land, and to this house?'

¹⁸ the LORD was very angry with Israel. He removed them from his sight. Only the tribe of Judah kept its place. ¹⁹ But even Judah did not obey the commands of the LORD their God. They were guided by the rules Israel made. ²⁰ And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and gave them into the hand of the plunderers, until He had cast them out from His presence.

²⁰ »I will uproot Israel from the land I gave them. I will reject this Temple that I declared holy for my name. I will make it an example and an object of ridicule for all the people of the world. ²¹ And as for this house, which was exalted, all who pass by it will be appalled and will say, 'Why has the LORD done thus to this land and to this house?' ²² "They will answer their own question: 'They abandoned the LORD the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt. They adopted other gods, worshiped, and served them. That is why he brought this disaster on them.'"

¹³ Thou hast made us a reproach to our neighbours; a scoff and derision to those around us. ¹⁴ You made our defeat a proverb among the nations so that people shake their heads at us.

¹⁶ at the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.

¹⁷ His name endures forever, his name continues as long as the sun. Men shall be blessed in him, all nations will call him blessed.

⁴ We are become a reproach to our neighbours; A scoff and a derision to them around us.

²⁰ And he shall cut off on the right hand, yet be hungry. And he shall eat on the left, but not be satisfied. Each man shall eat the flesh of his own arm; ²¹ Manasseh, Ephraim and Ephraim, Manasseh and together they will be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

²⁴ In that day Israel will be the third together with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the earth: ²⁵ the LORD Almighty has blessed, saying: Blessed is Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance.

³ Strengthen the weak hands, and make the feeble knees firm. ⁴ Tell those who have a fearful heart, "Be strong. Do not be afraid. Look, your God will come with vengeance, God's retribution. He will come and save you.

¹⁰ "'Do not fear for I am with you! Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.' ¹¹ "All who rage against you will be ashamed and disgraced. Those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. ¹² "Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. ¹³ "I AM the LORD, YOUR GOD! I take hold of your right hand and say to you: Do not fear; I will help you. ¹⁴ "Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob, O little Israel, for I will help you. This is the declaration of the LORD, your Redeemer, and the Holy One of Israel. ¹⁵ "See I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them. You will reduce the hills to chaff. ¹⁶ "You will winnow them. The wind will pick them up and a gale will blow them away. But you will rejoice in the LORD and glory in the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁵ You will leave your name to my chosen ones as a curse. The Sovereign Sovereign LORD will put you to death, but to his servants he will give another name. ¹⁶ Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the God of (amen, so be it) truth; he who takes an oath in the land will swear by the God of truth. For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.

⁹ "'"I will make them a horrifying sight to all the kingdoms of the earth. They will be a disgrace and an example. They will become something ridiculed and cursed wherever I scatter them.

¹⁸ Jerusalem, the cities of Judah, its kings and officials to make them into a ruin, an object of horror and scorn, and a curse, as it is this day;

⁶ then I will make this house like Shiloh, and this city I will make a curse for all the nations of the earth.'" '"

¹⁸ And I will pursue them with the sword, with the famine, and with the plague, and will make them a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and a waste, and a hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations where I have driven them,

³⁰ Indeed, the Israelites and Judeans have been doing only evil in my presence since their youth. Indeed, the Israelites have done nothing but provoke me by what they have made with their hands," declares the LORD. ³¹ "Indeed, this city has provoked me to anger and wrath from the day they built it until now, and so I'll remove it from my sight ³² The people of Israel and Judah have made me furious because they are evil. The people, their kings and officials, their priests and prophets, and the Judeans and those who live in Jerusalem

²⁴ "Haven't you noticed what these people have been saying? 'The LORD rejected the two families that he had chosen!' They have contempt for my people and no longer consider them a nation.

¹⁸ For the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: 'As my anger and my wrath has been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my wrath will be poured out on you, when you enter into Egypt; and you will be an object of horror, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach; and you will see this place no more.'

¹² I'll take the remnant of Judah that determined to go to the land of Egypt to settle there, and all of them will come to an end in the land of Egypt. They'll fall by the sword, and they'll come to an end by famine. They'll become a curse, an object of horror, ridicule, and scorn.

²² The LORD could no longer bear it because of your evil deeds and the repulsive things that you did. So your land has become a ruin and an object of horror and ridicule without an inhabitant, as is the case today.

¹⁵ All that pass by clap their hands at thee; they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem: 'Is this the city that men called the perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth?' ¹⁶ All your enemies have opened their mouth wide against you; they hiss and gnash the teeth; they say, We have swallowed her up; certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it!

¹⁵ “Go away!” they cried to them. “Unclean! Go away! Go away! Don't touch! When they fled away and wandered, men said among the nations, “They can't live here any more.”

¹⁵ So it will be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment, to the nations that are around you, when I execute judgments on you in anger and in wrath, and in wrathful rebukes—I, the LORD, have spoken it—

¹¹ Then he said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost. We are clean cut off.

¹⁶ "Son of man, take a stick and write on it: For Judah and for the Israelites who are associated with it.' Then take another stick and write on it: 'The stick of Ephraim, for Joseph and for all the people of Israel associated with it.' ¹⁷ And join them to one another into one stick. And they shall become one in your hand. ¹⁸ 'Tell us what you mean by this.' ¹⁹ Then say to them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will take Joseph's stick, which is in Ephraim's hand, and the tribes of Israel associated with it, and I will put them with Judah's stick. I will make them into one stick. They will be one in my hand."'

¹¹ "And all Israel transgressed your law and turned aside so as not to listen to your voice, and so the curse and the oath which was written in the law of Moses, the servant of God, has been poured out upon us, because we have sinned against him.

⁷ The remnant of Jacob will be in the midst of many peoples, like dew from the LORD, like showers on the grass, that do not wait for man, nor wait for the sons of men.

²⁰ At that time I will bring you in, and at that time I will gather you; for I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes, says the LORD.

¹⁹ I asked the angel who talked with me, "What are these?" He answered me, "These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem."

⁹ "Thus sayeth the LORD of Hosts: let your hands be strong, ye that now hear these words by the mouth of the prophets which be in these days that the foundation is laid upon the LORD of Hosts' house, that the temple may be builded.

²⁰ Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come; ²¹ and the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to supplicate the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also. ²² And many peoples and powerful nations will come to seek Yahweh of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat ⌊the favor of⌋ Yahweh.' ²³ Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'In those days ten men from all the nations of every language will take hold of the hem of a Judean man, saying, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you!" '"

¹³ For I have bent Judah as if it were my bow, loading it with Ephraim. I raised up your sons, Zion, against your sons, Greece, wielding you like a mighty warrior's sword.

⁶ And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and the house of Joseph I will save. And I will bring them back, because I have compassion on them, and they will be as if I had not rejected them, for I am the LORD their God, and I will answer them. ⁷ And Ephraim will be like a man of war, and their hearts will be glad as with wine; and their children will see it with joy; their hearts will be glad in the Lord. ⁸ I will signal for them, and gather them; for I have redeemed them; and they will increase as they have increased. ⁹ Though I sow them among the nations, in the distant places they will remember me, and they will stay alive with their children, and they will return.

¹³ Be on the alert. Stand firm in the faith. Be men of courage. Be strong.

¹⁴ He redeemed us so that the blessing promised to Abraham would come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. ²⁹ And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.

¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

¹¹ The counsel of the LORD stands fast forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

²⁴ the LORD Almighty has sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so it shall come to pass; and as I have purposed, it shall stand;

²⁸ For this the earth will mourn and the heavens above be black, because I have spoken it, I have purposed it and I have not relented, nor will I turn back from it.

¹ Then the LORD said to me, "Even if Moses and Samuel stood before me, my heart would not be to this people. Send them away from my sight, and let them go out. ² "When they say to you, 'Where can we go?', say to them, 'This is what the LORD says: "Those destined for death, to death will go; those destined for the sword, to the sword will go; and those destined for captivity, to captivity will go. ³ And I will set over them four kinds, says the LORD: the sword to kill, and the dogs to drag off, and the birds of the heaven and the beast of the earth to devour and destroy. ⁴ And I will make them a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah; for what he did in Jerusalem. ⁵ For who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will mourn you? Who will come to ask of your welfare? ⁶ You have deserted me," declares the LORD. "You keep going backward. I'll reach out my hand and destroy you. I'm tired of showing compassion.

¹⁶ May that man be like the cities that the LORD overthrew without compassion. Let him hear a cry in the morning, and a battle cry at noon,

²⁸ Just as I've watched over them to pull up, tear down, overthrow, destroy, and bring disaster, so I'll watch over them to build and to plant," declares the LORD.

¹⁴ I the LORD have spoken. It shall come, and I will do it. I will not let go, nor will I spare, nor will I repent. According to your ways, and according to your doings, they shall judge you, says the Sovereign LORD.

⁶ However, did not my words and my regulations which I commanded my servants the prophets overtake your ancestors? And they repented and said, 'the LORD of hosts planned to do with us according to our ways, and according to our deeds so he has dealt with us.'" '"

¹ But now thus said the LORD that created you, O Jacob, and he that formed you, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine. ² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.

¹¹ For I know the plans that I have for you,' says the LORD, 'plans for your welfare, and not for calamity, to give you hope and a future. ¹² And you will call upon me and you will go and pray to me and I will listen to you. ¹³ You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart. ¹⁴ 'I will let you find me, declares the LORD. I will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have scattered you,' declares the LORD. 'I will bring you back from the place where you are being held captive.'

⁴² For so says the LORD: As I have brought all this great evil on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them.

¹⁰ Writhe and groan, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in labor. For now you will go forth from the city, and you will camp in the field; you will go to Babylon. There you will be rescued; there the LORD will redeem you from the hand of your enemies. ¹¹ Now also many nations are gathered against you, who say, Let her be defiled, and let our eyes look on Zion. ¹² But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD, and they do not understand his plan, that he has gathered them as sheaves to his threshing floor. ¹³ Rise up and thresh, O daughter of Zion, for I will make your horn iron, and I will make your hoofs bronze, and you shall crush many peoples. And I will devote their gain to the LORD, and their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not keep His anger forever, because He delights in mercy. ¹⁹ You will again have compassion on us. You will tread our iniquities under foot. You will throw all our sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰ You will give truth to Jacob, and mercy to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

¹⁶ In that day it will be said to Jerusalem, Do not fear, O Zion. Do not let your hands be slack. ¹⁷ The LORD your God in the midst of you is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over you with joy; he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.

³² Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.

¹¹ "'Do not steal. Do not deal falsely. Do not lie to one another.

¹² And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, ¹³ and observe his commands and statutes that I'm commanding you today for your own good.

⁷ Your very own eyes saw all the great things that the LORD did." ⁸ "Keep all the commands that I'm giving you today, so you can be strong enough to enter and possess the land that you are crossing over to inherit

² He who walks blamelessly and does what is right, and speaks truth in his heart;

¹⁷ He who is truthful testifies honestly, but a false witness lies.

¹⁹ Truth’s lips will be established forever, but a lying tongue is only momentary.

⁷ Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom. He will establish and uphold it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

³ His delight will be in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by the sight of his eyes, neither decide by the hearing of his ears; ⁴ but with righteousness he will judge the poor, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked. ⁵ Righteousness will be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his waist. ⁶ The wolf will live with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat, the calf, the young lion, and the fattened calf together; and a little child will lead them. ⁷ Also the cow and the bear will graze. Their young will lie down together. And the lion will eat straw like the ox. ⁸ The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra. The weaned child will put his hand on the viper's den. ⁹ They will not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

³ They use their tongues like a bow. Lies rather than truth fly throughout the land. They progress from one evil to another, and they don't know me," declares the LORD. ⁴ Everyone beware of his neighbor, and do not trust any brother! For every brother will supplant his neighbor, and will walk with slanders. ⁵ Friends deceive each other, and will not speak the truth. They have taught their tongue to speak lies. They weary themselves commiting iniquity.

¹ Hear the word of the LORD, O children of Israel, for the LORD has an indictment against the inhabitants of the land. There is no faithfulness or loyalty, there is no knowledge of God in the land. ² There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed.

¹⁵ Hate evil and love good and establish justice in the gate; perhaps the LORD, the God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

²⁴ But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

⁸ He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

¹² Her rich people are filled with violence, and her inhabitants tell lies their tongues speak deceitfully!

⁹ Thus saith the Lord Almighty, Execute just judgment and shew mercy and compassion one to another;

¹⁹ Thus says the LORD of hosts: "The fasts of the fourth fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace."

⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

⁸ Therefore produce fruit worthy of repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. ⁹ The ax lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.” ¹⁰ "What are we to do then?" the people asked. ¹¹ John replied, “Whoever has two tunics should share with him who has none, and whoever has food should do the same.” ¹² Even tax collectors came to be baptized. “Teacher,” they asked, “what should we do?” ¹³ “Collect no more than you are authorized,” he answered. ¹⁴ Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?” “Do not take money by force or false accusation,” he said. “Be content with your wages.”

¹⁷ So I tell you this, and testify to it in the Lord: You must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

²⁵ Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are members of one another.

⁶ that no one trespass and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such behavior, as, indeed, we have already told you and warned you.

¹³ Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep a clear head, and set your hope completely on the grace to be given you when Jesus, the Messiah, is revealed. ¹⁴ As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires as in your ignorance, ¹⁵ But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, ¹⁶ for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

⁸ But to the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.”

⁵ The arrogant shall not stand in your sight. You hate all evildoers. ⁶ You destroy speakers of lies. A man of bloodshed and deceit the LORD abhors.

³ For the wicked one boasts about his own desire; he blesses the greedy and despises the LORD.

²⁹ Do not plot harm against your neighbor who dwells in confidence beside you.

¹⁴ planning evil with a perverse mind, continually stirring up discord.

¹⁶ Here are six things that the LORD hates seven, in fact, are detestable to him: ¹⁷ haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood; ¹⁸ a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief, ¹⁹ a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.

¹³ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil. I hate: pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth.

¹⁴ "O Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart so that you may be saved. How long will your wicked thoughts lodge within you?

⁴ "'I kept sending you my servants the prophets, who told you not to do this terrible thing that I hate.

¹ Woe to those who devise iniquity and work evil on their beds! When the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. ² They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and they take them away. They oppress a man and his house; a man and his inheritance. ³ Therefore, thus says the LORD: Look! I am planning disaster against this family from which you will not be able to remove your necks. You will not walk proudly, for it is a time of disaster.

¹³ Your eyes are too pure to see evil, and you are not able to look at wrongdoing. Why do you look at the treacherous? Why are you silent when the wicked swallows up someone more righteous than him?

³ He responded to me, "This is the curse that is going out over the surface of the whole earth, because, according to this side of the scroll, all thieves will be ejected, and according to the other side of the scroll, all liars will be ejected." ⁴ I will cause it to go out," says the LORD of hosts, "and it will enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears falsely by my name; and it will remain in the midst of his house, and will destroy it with its timber and its stones."

¹⁰ And do not oppress the widow, or the fatherless, the alien, or the poor. And do not devise evil in your heart, of a man against his brother.

⁵ I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the perjurers, and against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and who deprive the foreigner of justice, and do not fear me," says the LORD of hosts.

²⁸ But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

³⁵ The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure, and the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure.

¹⁹ For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, and slander.

³ On the ninth day of the [fourth] month the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land ⁴ The city was breached, and the entire army left during the night through the gate that stood between the two walls beside the royal garden, even though the Chaldeans had surrounded the city. They escaped by way of the Arabah,

²⁵ In the seventh month, Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the king's seed, came with ten men and made an attack on Gedaliah, causing his death and the death of the Jews and the Chaldaeans who were with him at Mizpah.

¹⁷ And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s command reached with his law, there were joy and gladness for the Jews, entertainments and a feast-day: and many of the people of the land became Jews; for the dread of the Jews had fallen upon them.

²² as the days in which the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned to them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day; that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions to one another, and gifts to the poor.

¹¹ You have turned my wailing into my dancing. You have removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy

¹⁰ And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and enter Zion, with singing and everlasting joy on their head; gladness and joy shall reach them; and sorrow and sighing shall flee.

¹¹ the LORD's ransomed will return. They will enter Zion with singing! Everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

¹² They will come and sing in the height of Zion, and will flow to the goodness of the LORD, to the grain, to the new wine, to the oil, and to the young of the flock and of the herd. Their soul will be as a watered garden. They will not sorrow any more at all. ¹³ The virgins will rejoice with dancing together with young men and old men. For I'll turn their mourning into joy, and I'll comfort them and give them gladness instead of sorrow.

² On the ninth day of the fourth month of Zedekiah's eleventh year as king, the city walls were broken through.

¹ In the seventh month Ishmael son of Nethaniah and grandson of Elishama, a descendant of the royal family and of the king's officers went with ten men to Gedaliah, son of Ahikam, at Mizpah. They ate together at Mizpah. ² Then Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men who were with him, got up, and attacking Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, with the sword, put to death him whom the king of Babylon had made ruler over the land. ³ Ishmael also killed all the Jews who were with Gedaliah at Mizpah as well as the Babylonian soldiers that he found there.

⁴ and in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came against Jerusalem with all his army. He encamped near it and set up siege works all around it.

⁶ By the ninth day of the fourth month the famine became so severe that there was no food for the people of the land. ⁷ The wall of the city was broken through, and all the soldiers fled, leaving the city at night by way of the gate between the two walls next to the king's garden, even though the Chaldeans were all around the city. They went in the direction of the Arabah.

¹² Now the tenth day of the fifth Month, in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan the chief captain and the king of Babylon's servants came unto Jerusalem, ¹³ He burned down the LORD’s Temple, the royal palace, and all the houses in Jerusalem. Every important building was burned down. ¹⁴ The entire Babylonian army that was with the captain of the guard tore down the walls around Jerusalem. ¹⁵ Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguard carried into exile some of the poorest of the people, the rest of the people left in the city, the deserters who had defected to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the craftsmen.

³ saying to the priests of the house of the LORD of hosts and to the prophets, "Should I mourn in the fifth month and keep myself separate as I have done for these many years?"

⁵ "Say to all the people of the land and to the priests: 'When you fasted and lamented in the fifth and seventh months for these seventy years, did you really fast for me?

¹⁶ These are the things that ye do: Speak ye truth each with his neighbour, Truth and peaceful judgment judge in your gates,

⁷⁴ to be redeemed from the hand of our enemies; and that we should worship before him, without fear, ⁷⁵ in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

¹¹ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, ¹² It trains us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and Godly lives in this present age,

¹⁵ Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

⁴¹ Also for the foreigner who is not from your people Israel, and he comes from a distant land because of your name,

⁴³ then hear in heaven where you reside, and do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the people of the earth may know your name, fear you as do your people Israel, and so they may know that this temple that I have built is called by your name.

³² And every stranger who is not himself of Your people Israel, and who shall come from a distant land because of Your great name, and Your mighty hand, and Your outstretched arm; when they shall come and worship toward this place- ³³ then hear from heaven where you reside, and do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the people of the earth may know your name, fear you as do your people Israel, and so they may know that this temple that I have built is called by your name.

²⁷ All the limits of the earth shall remember and return to the LORD, And all the families of the nations shall bow down before Him."

¹ For the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Psalm. A song. May God be merciful to us, bless us, and cause his face to shine on us. Selah. ² that your way may be known upon earth, your salvation among all nations. ³ Let the peoples praise you, O God. Let all the peoples praise you! ⁴ Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, because you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations on the earth. Selah

⁹ You rule over the majestic sea; when its waves surge, you calm them.

¹ Praise the LORD, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. ² For his mercy is great toward us; and the truth of the LORD [endureth] for ever. Praise ye the LORD

⁴ All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O LORD, when they hear the words of your mouth. ⁵ Yes, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD; for the glory of the LORD is great.

¹⁰ In that day the root of Jesse, who standeth for an ensign of the people, him the Gentiles shall beseech, and his sepulchre shall be glorious.

⁶ yes, he says, It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved of Israel. I will also give you for a light to the Gentiles, that you may be my salvation to the end of the earth.

²² Thus saith the Lord God: Behold I will lift up my hand to the Gentiles, and will set up my standard to the people. And they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and carry thy daughters upon their shoulders. ²³ Kings shall be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. They will bow down to you with their faces to the earth, and lick the dust of your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; and those who wait for me shall not be disappointed.”

³ Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. ⁴ "Look up, look around, and watch. All of your people assemble and come to you. Your sons come from far away. Your daughters are carried in their arms. ⁵ "Then you will see this and rejoice. Your heart will shake with joy. The riches of the sea will be brought to you. The wealth of the nations will come to you. ⁶ »Many camels will cover your land, young camels from Midian and Ephah. Everyone from Sheba will come. They will bring gold and incense. They will sing the praises of the LORD. ⁷ All the flocks of Kedar will be gathered together to you. The rams of Nebaioth will serve you. They will be accepted as offerings on my altar; and I will beautify my glorious house. ⁸ "Who are these people that fly by like clouds and like doves to their nests? ⁹ Surely the islands shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, for the name of the LORD your God, and for the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you. ¹⁰ “Foreigners will build up your walls, and their kings will serve you: for in my wrath I struck you, but in my favor I have had mercy on you. ¹¹ "Your gates will always be open. They will never be closed day or night so that people may bring you the wealth of the nations. Even their kings are led as prisoners. ¹² For that nation and kingdom that will not serve you will perish. Yes, those nations will be utterly wasted.

¹⁸ And I know their works and their imagination. I am going to gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

¹⁹ O LORD, my strength and my stronghold and my refuge in the day of affliction, to you the nations will come from the ends of the earth and will say, Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, even vanity and things in which there is no profit.

¹⁰ The number of the children of Israel will be like the sand of the sea that cannot be measured or counted; and in the place where it is said to them, "You are not my people," it will be said to them, "Children of the living God."

²³ I will plant my people in the land for myself. I will show mercy on her who has received no mercy I will say to those who are not my people, 'You are my people!' and they will say, 'You are my God.'"

¹² so that they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all the nations on whom My name is called, declares the LORD who is doing this.

¹ But in the latter days, it will happen that the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established on the top of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills; and peoples will stream to it. ² And many nations will come and say, "Come! Let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the temple of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways, and that we may walk in his paths," for the law will go out from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

¹⁶ "Every one that is left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. ¹⁷ And then whoever of the clans of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the king, the LORD of hosts, it will not rain on them.

¹¹ And I tell you, many will come from the east and from the west and take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, in the Kingdom of Heaven,

¹⁴ Simeon has related how God first showed his concern by taking from the Gentiles a people for his name.

¹⁸ that have been known for ages.’

⁹ so that the Gentiles may glorify God for His mercy. As it is written: “Therefore I will praise You among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to Your name.” ¹⁰ Again, it says: “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people.” ¹¹ and again, "Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and praise him, all you peoples"; ¹² And again, Isaiah says: “The Root of Jesse will appear, even He who rises up to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will place their hope on Him.”

¹⁵ Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever."

²² Praise the LORD, all you his works in all places of his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

¹ A song of ascents. Of David. I rejoiced in those who said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD." ² Our feet are standing In your gateways, O Jerusalem, ³ Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together: ⁴ Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, to the testimony of Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD. ⁵ for there the thrones of judgment settle - the thrones of the house of David. ⁶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be at ease. ⁷ May peace be within your walls, security within your palaces." ⁸ For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will say, "Peace be within you." ⁹ For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good.

¹ Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. ² I will praise the LORD while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I am still alive.

³ Let us acknowledge the LORD. Let us press on to know the LORD. As surely as the sun rises, The LORD will appear. He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain that waters the earth."

² The people of Bethel sent Sharezer and Regem Melech, and their men, to entreat the LORD's favor,

⁷ On this mountain He will destroy the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations.

⁵ You will summon nations you do not know. Nations that do not know you will run to you, because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.

³ Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. ⁴ "Look up, look around, and watch. All of your people assemble and come to you. Your sons come from far away. Your daughters are carried in their arms. ⁵ "Then you will see this and rejoice. Your heart will shake with joy. The riches of the sea will be brought to you. All who loathe you will bow at your feet. They will call you the city of the LORD, Zion, the city of the Holy One of Israel. ¹⁵ Although you have been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through you, I will make you an eternal excellence, a joy of many generations. ¹⁶ You will also drink the milk of the nations, and will nurse from royal breasts. Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. ¹⁷ For bronze I will bring gold; for iron I will bring silver; for wood, bronze, and for stones, iron. I will also make peace your governor, and righteousness your ruler. ¹⁸ Violence will no more be heard in your land, desolation nor destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise. ¹⁹ The sun will be no more your light by day; nor will the brightness of the moon give light to you, but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. ²⁰ Your sun will no more go down, nor your moon withdraw; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning will be ended. ²¹ "Then all your people will be righteous and they will possess the land everlastingly. They will be the seedlings I have planted, the honored work of my hands. ²² The little one shall become a thousand, and the smallest a mighty nation: I, the LORD, will hasten it in its time.

²³ And it will be, from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, all flesh will come to worship before Me, says the LORD.

³ And he will judge between many peoples and will decide concerning strong nations afar off. And they will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning-hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, nor will they learn war any more.

⁷ And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of hosts.

²¹ and the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to supplicate the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also.

⁸ The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and foretold the gospel to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”

⁴ Who will not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before You, for Your righteous acts have been revealed.”

²⁴ The nations will walk by its light; the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.

⁷ and your father has cheated me and changed my wages ten times, but God has not allowed him to harm me.

⁴¹ Thus have I been twenty years in your house; I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your flocks: and you have changed my wages ten times.

²⁹ Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, We are journeying to the place of which the LORD said, 'I will give it to you'. Come with us, and we will treat you well; for the LORD has spoken good concerning Israel. ³⁰ He said to him, "I will not go; but I will depart to my own land, and to my relatives." ³¹ "Please do not leave us," Moses said. "You know where we can camp in the desert. You can be our guide. ³² "If you come with us, we will share with you all the blessings that the LORD gives us."

¹⁴ And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that you LORD are among this people, that you LORD are seen face to face, and that your cloud stands over them, and that you go before them, by daytime in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night. ¹⁵ "But if you kill all these people at the same time the nations who have heard these reports about you will say, ¹⁶ "the LORD was not able to bring these people into the land he promised them, so he slaughtered them in the desert.

²² For all the men having seen my glory and my signs which I did in Egypt and in the desert, and they will try me this ten times, they heard not to my voice.

⁶ Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and discernment in the eyes of people who'll listen to all these decrees. Then they'll say: 'Surely this great nation is a wise and discerning people.' ⁷ For what great nation is there, that has a god so near to them, as the LORD our God is whenever we call on him?

⁹ and said to the men, "I know that the LORD has given you the land, and that dread of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away in fear because of your presence. ¹⁰ For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the reed sea before you, when you came out of Egypt, and what you did unto the two kings of the Amorites on the other side Jordan; Sihon, and Og, which ye utterly destroyed. ¹¹ When we heard these reports, we all became terrified and discouraged because of you, for the LORD your God is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath. ¹² Now therefore, I pray you, swear to me by the LORD, since I have showed you kindness, that you will also show kindness to my father's house, and give me a true token: ¹³ and you will spare my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all that belongs to them; you will deliver our lives from death."

¹⁶ Ruth said, “Don't urge me to leave you, and to return from following you, for where you go, I will go; and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God my God. ¹⁷ Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me.

²⁷ As Samuel turned around to go, he caught hold of the hem of his robe, and it tore. ²⁸ And Samuel said to him, the LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and has given it to your neighbor who is better than you.

¹⁹ The king asked Ittai from Gath: "Why should you go with us? Go back, and stay with King Absalom. You are a foreigner, an exile from your homeland. ²⁰ "In fact you came to us just yesterday. Should I make you wander around with me when I do not even know where I am going? Go back and take your countrymen with you. May the LORD always show you kindness." ²¹ And Ittai answered the king, and said, As the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will your servant be. ²² Then said David unto Ittai—Go, and pass on. So Ittai the Gittite passed on, with all his men, and all the little ones that were with him.

⁴² (for they shall hear of your great name, and of your mighty hand, and of your outstretched arm); when he comes and prays toward this house; ⁴³ then hear in heaven where you reside, and do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the people of the earth may know your name, fear you as do your people Israel, and so they may know that this temple that I have built is called by your name.

⁶ And Elijah said to him, Please stay here, for the LORD has sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. And the two of them went on.

¹⁸ Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, chief of the thirty who said: "We are yours, O David! And we are with you, O son of Jesse! Peace! Peace to you, and peace to those who help you, for your God helps you." So David appointed them as heads of the troops.

³ These ten times, have ye reviled me, Shameless ye wrong me.

² Give a portion to seven, yea even to eight, For you do not know what evil may come upon the earth."

⁶ A person will grab one of his relatives from his father's family and say: "You have a coat. You will be our leader. This pile of ruins will be under your control."

¹ And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, we will eat our own bread and wear our own clothing; only let us be called by your name, to take away our shame.

¹⁴ This is what the LORD says: "The products of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush, and those tall Sabeans will come over to you and will be yours. They will walk behind you. They will come to you in chains. They will bow down before you and plead with you. They will say: 'God is with you and there is no other. There is no other god!'

³ Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

¹⁸ And I know their works and their imagination. I am going to gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

⁵ He will be our peace when Assyria invades our land, and when he marches through our fortresses, then we will raise against him seven shepherds, and eight leaders of men.

²¹ Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother who sins against me? Up to seven times?” ²² Jesus answered, “I tell you, not just seven times, but seventy-seven times!

⁴⁴ She came up behind Jesus and touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.

⁴⁷ For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” ⁴⁸ When the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord, and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.

¹² so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and the diseases and evil spirits left them.

²⁵ and the secrets of his heart will be revealed. So he will fall facedown and worship God, proclaiming, “God is truly among you!”

⁹ After this I looked, and there was a vast throng that no one could count from every nation, tribe, people, and tongue, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, ¹⁰ They cried out in a loud voice, "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the lamb!"

⁶ Then I saw another angel flying overhead with the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on earth to every nation, tribe, language, and people. ⁷ He said with a loud voice, "Fear God, and give him glory; for the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and the springs of waters."
