⁷ But the LORD reigns forever. He has prepared his throne for judgment. ⁸ And he will judge the world with righteousness. He will judge the peoples with equity. ⁹ the LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a place of safety in times of trouble.

⁹ He leads humble people to do what is right, and he teaches them his way.

⁴ May he defend the afflicted of the people and deliver the children of the poor, but crush the oppressor.

² "How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked?" Selah. ³ Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless, maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. ⁴ Rescue the weak and needy, deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. ⁵ They know not, nor do they understand. They walk to and fro in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken.

⁴ For the LORD takes pleasure in his people. He crowns the humble with salvation.

⁴ but with righteousness he will judge the poor, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked.

²⁸ and have grown fat and sleek. There is no limit to their evil deeds. They don't argue the case of the orphan to secure justice. They don't defend the rights of the poor.

³ seek the LORD, all you humble people of the land, who do what he commands. Seek righteousness! Seek humility! Maybe you will be protected in the day of the LORD's anger."

⁵ Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

⁴ but from the inner disposition of your heart, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in God’s sight.
