⁵ He does not lend his money at interest, and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.

²⁵ "When you lend money to any of my people who are poor, do not act like a moneylender and require him to pay interest.

⁷ Stay far away from a false charge, and don't kill the innocent or the righteous, because I won't acquit the guilty. ⁸ You shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds those who have sight and perverts the words of the righteous.

³⁵ " 'And if your countryman becomes poor and if he becomes dependent on you, then you shall support him like an alien and like a temporary resident, and he shall live with you. ³⁶ Take no interest from him or profit; but fear your God, that your brother may live among you. ³⁷ You shall not lend him your money at interest, nor give him your food for profit.

¹⁹ You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality. You shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.

¹⁹ "Do not charge interest to your brothers, interest on money, food, anything that may be loaned at interest. ²⁰ You may charge a foreigner interest; but you shall not your brother interest, that the LORD your God may bless you in all that you put your hand to, in the land where you go in to possess it.

² Yes, they who say, We, our sons and our daughters, are many; and we take crop to eat and live. ³ Others were saying, "We're having to mortgage our fields, our vineyards, and our homes so we can buy grain during this famine." ⁴ And others there were that said, We have borrowed money for the king’s tax on our fields and vineyards. ⁵ Now our flesh is like the flesh of our brothers, our sons are like their sons. Look, we are subduing our sons and our daughters to be slaves, and there are some from our daughters being molested. We are powerless, and our fields and vineyards belong to others."

⁷ I thought over this in my heart, and then I quarreled with the nobles and the prefects. I said to them, "You yourselves are taking interest from your own brother!" So I called the great assembly against them, ⁸ And I said to them, We after our ability have redeemed our brothers the Jews, which were sold to the heathen; and will you even sell your brothers? or shall they be sold to us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer. ⁹ So I said, "What you're doing isn't right! Shouldn't you live in the fear of our God to avoid shame from our foreign enemies? ¹⁰ Also, I and my brothers and my servants are lending them money and grain. Please stop taking this interest. ¹¹ So today please restore to them their fields, vineyards, olive orchards, and homes, along with the one percent interest charge that you've assessed them on the grain, wine, and oil." ¹² So they said, "We will restore it and will not request anything more. So we will do as you say." Then I called the priests and made them take an oath to do this promise. ¹³ Shaking out the folds of my robe, I said: "So, may God send out from his house and his work every man who does not keep this agreement. Even so let him be sent out and made as nothing." All the people said: "Amen!" They praised the LORD. The people did as they said.

⁸ I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

²² Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.

³ Blessed are those who observe justice, he who does righteousness at all times.

⁶ For he will never be shaken. The righteous will be remembered forever.

³ A person doesn't gain security by wickedness, but the righteous won't be uprooted.

¹⁵ He who walks righteously and speaks what is right, who rejects gain from extortion and keeps his hand from accepting bribes, who stops his ears against plots of murder and shuts his eyes against contemplating evil.

⁸ he lendeth nothing upon usury; he taketh nothing over; he withdraweth his hand from doing wrong; he handleth faithfully betwixt man and man;

¹⁷ '"He keeps his hand from the poor and does not take interest or increase, but executes my ordinances, and walks in my statutes. He will not die for his father's iniquity. He will surely live.

²⁷ Again, when a wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed and does what is lawful and right, he will save his soul alive.

¹² They take a bribe among you in order to shed blood; and you take usury, and you make gain from your neighbors by extortion, and so you have forgotten me, declares the Sovereign LORD.

³ Their hands are on that which is evil to do it diligently. The ruler and judge ask for a bribe; and the powerful man dictates the evil desire of his soul. Thus they conspire together.

²¹ "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. ²² Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ ²³ Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you evildoers!'" ²⁴ "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. ²⁵ The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock.

¹⁵ and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I hand Him over to you?” And they set out for him thirty pieces of silver.

³ When Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was filled with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders. ⁴ "I have sinned," he said, "in betraying innocent blood!" "What is that to us?" they answered; "you must see to that." ⁵ So Judas threw the silver into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.

¹⁷ If you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

²² Obey the message; do not merely listen to it, and deceive yourselves. ²³ For anyone who hears the word but does not carry it out is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror, ²⁴ and after observing himself goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. ²⁵ But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom, and continues to do so—not being a forgetful hearer, but an effective doer—he will be blessed in what he does.

¹⁰ Therefore, brethren, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall; ¹¹ and you will receive a lavish reception into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
