²² Solomon's daily provisions were 30 kors of fine flour, 60 kors of meal, ²³ Also needed were ten stall-fed cattle, twenty pasture-fed cattle, and one hundred sheep, besides deer, gazelles, roebucks, and fowl (cuckoo). ²⁴ For he had dominion on this side of the river, and he was at peace on all sides round about. ²⁵ As long as he lived, the people throughout Judah and Israel lived in safety. Each family had its own grapevines and fig trees. ²⁶ Solomon had forty thousand stalls for his chariot horses and twelve thousand cavalry horses. ²⁷ And those officers provided provisions for king Solomon, and for all who came to king Solomon's table, every man in his month; they let nothing be lacking. ²⁸ Each governor also supplied his share of barley and straw as needed for the chariot horses and the work animals.

²⁵ And Azmaveth the son of Adiel was over the king's treasures. And Jonathan the son of Uzziah was over the treasures in the fields, in the cities and in the villages and in the castles. ²⁶ Ezri, the son of Chelub, had authority over the field-workers and farmers; ²⁷ Shimei of Ramah was over the vineyards. Zabdi the Shiphmite was over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars. ²⁸ Baal-hanan the Gederite supervised the olive and sycamore trees in the Shephelah. Joash supervised the oil reserves. ²⁹ And Shitrai the Sharonite was over the herds that fed in Sharon. And Shaphat the son of Adlai was over the herds that were in the valleys. ³⁰ And Obil the Ishmaelite was over the camels. And Jehdeiah the Meronothite was over the donkeys. ³¹ And Jaziz the Hagrite was over the flocks. All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David's.

² and with all my force I prepared for the house of my Elohim: gold for the gold; silver for the silver; copper for the copper; iron for the iron; timber for the timber; onyx stones and fillings; stibium stones and of embroidery; and all manner of precious stones and marble stones in abundance. ³ And moreover, in my affection for the house of my God I have given of my own property of gold and silver, for the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the house of the sanctuary: ⁴ Three thousand talents of gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of fine silver, for the overlaying of the walls of the sanctuary; ⁵ gold for the golden things and silver for the silver things, for all the work by the hand of skilled craftsmen. Now who will offer willingly, consecrating himself today to the LORD?" ⁶ Then the leaders of the ancestral houses, and the leaders of the tribes of Israel, and the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, with the officers over the king's work, offered willingly; ⁷ And they gave for the service of the house of God five thousand talents and ten thousand darics of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of bronze, and one hundred thousand talents of iron. ⁸ And whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD under the authority of Jehiel the Gershonite. ⁹ Then the people rejoiced, for they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

¹⁸ And the multitude of vessels was innumerable, so that the weight of the brass was not known. ¹⁹ Solomon also made these items for God's temple: the golden altar, the tables for the Bread of the Presence, ²⁰ the lamp stands and their lamps made of pure gold to burn in front of the inner sanctuary, as required, ²¹ and the blossoms, the lamps, and the tongs that were of solid gold; ²² the gold trimming instruments, basins, pans, censers, and the gold door sockets for the inner sanctuary (that is, the most holy place), and for the doors to the main hall of the temple.

⁴ He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as his father Amaziah had done. ⁵ And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God. As long as he sought the LORD, God blessed him. ⁶ Uzziah went to wage war against the Philistines. He tore down the walls of Gath, Jabneh, and Ashdod. He built cities near Ashdod and elsewhere among the Philistines. ⁷ God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians who lived in Gur Baal, and the Meunim. ⁸ The Ammonites paid taxes to Uzziah. His fame spread to the border of Egypt because he became very powerful. ⁹ Uzziah also built towers in Jerusalem, at the Corner Gate, at the Valley Gate, and at the Angle and fortified them. ¹⁰ And he built towers in the desert and hewed many cisterns, for he had much livestock, both in the Shephelah and on the plain, along with farmers and vinedressers in the hills and in the fertile lands, for he loved the soil. ¹¹ And Uzziah had troops trained and ready for war in divisions according to the number of their enrollment at the hand of Jeuel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah of the king's commanders.

³⁹ For the sons of Israel and the sons of Levi shall bring the offering of the grain, of the new wine, and the oil, to the rooms where the vessels of the sanctuary are, and the priests who minister, and the gatekeepers and the singers. And we will not forsake the house of our God.

⁵ prepared for Tobiah a large chamber where they had formerly put the grain offering, the frankincense, the temple objects, tithes of grain, wine, and oil commanded for the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the offerings of the priests. ⁶ But in all this, I was not at Jerusalem; for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I went to the king; and after some days I asked leave of the king, ⁷ And I came to Jerusalem, and understood the evil which Eliashib did for Tobiah in preparing him a room in the courts of the house of God. ⁸ It grieved me severely. Therefore I threw all Tobiah's household stuff out of the room. ⁹ Then I gave orders, and they made the rooms clean: and I put back in them the vessels of the house of God, with the meal offerings and the perfume. ¹⁰ I also learned that the allotments for the Levites had not been distributed. As a result, the Levites and singers who were responsible for the service had each left to go back to their fields. ¹¹ So I confronted the officials and asked, "Why is the temple of God neglected?" Then I gathered them together and put them back in their places. ¹² So all of Judah brought the tithe of grain, new wine, and olive oil into the storehouses. ¹³ to the charge of Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and Pedaiah of the Levites. And next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, son of Matthaniah; for they were accounted faithful. It was their office to distribute to their brothers.

²¹ I bequeath wealth to those who love me, and I will fill their treasuries."

⁶ In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.

¹⁵ There is gold and abundance of rubies, but the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.

²⁰ Precious treasures and oil are found where the wise live, but a foolish man devours them.

²³ Keep well informed of the condition of your flocks and pay attention to your herds, ²⁴ Riches are not forever: and a crown does not endure for every generation. ²⁵ The hay is removed, and the new growth appears, the grasses of the hills are gathered in. ²⁶ The lambs will be for thy clothing, and the goats the price for a field. ²⁷ There will be plenty of goats' milk for your food, for your family's food, and for the nourishment of your servant girls.

⁵² He said to them: Therefore, every scribe that is trained for the kingdom of heaven, is like the master of a house, who brings out of his treasury things new and old.
