Proverbs 2 Cross References - VIN

1 My son, if you will receive my words, and store up my commandments within you, 2 so as to turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; 3 if, indeed, you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, 4 If you seek it as for silver And search for it as for buried treasures, 5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7 He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, 8 guarding the paths of the just and protecting the way of his faithful ones. 9 Then you will understand what is right, just, and upright every good path. 10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. 11 Discretion will protect you; understanding will watch over you, 12 to rescue you from the way of evil - from the man who words perversions: 13 Who leave the right way, and walk by dark ways: 14 who delight in doing evil, and rejoice in the perverseness of evil; 15 whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways, 16 delivering you from the adulteress, from the immoral woman with her seductive words, 17 who forsakes the prince of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God. 18 For her house leads down to death, and her paths down to the realm of the dead. 19 None who go to her return, nor do they reach the paths of life. 20 That you may walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous. 21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the blameless shall remain in it 22 But the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the treacherous will be uprooted from it.

We'll fill our houses with plunder. 14 Throw in your lot with us. We'll all have one purse." 15 My son, do not go along with them, and keep your feet away from their paths! 16 for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood. 17 Look, it is useless to spread a net in full view of all the birds, 18 but these people lie in wait for their own blood. They ambush only themselves. 19 Such is the way of all those who seek illicit gain it takes away the lives of those who possess it.

Isaiah 59:3-5

3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity. Your lips have spoken lies. Your tongue mutters wickedness. 4 No one calls for justice and no one pleads his case truthfully. People trust pointless arguments and speak lies. They conceive trouble and give birth to evil. 5 They hatch viper eggs and weave spider webs. Those who eat their eggs will die. When an egg is crushed, a poisonous snake is hatched.

So shall it also be with this wicked generation.

Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone serves the fine wine first, and then the cheap wine after the guests are drunk. But you have saved the fine wine until now!” 11 This, the first of the miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee and revealed His glory; and His disciples believed into Him.

John 3:19-20

19 And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age— 6 and then have fallen away—to be restored again to repentance, because they themselves are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting Him to open shame.

2 Peter 2:20-22

20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled by them, and overcome, they are worse off in the end than at the beginning. 21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than to know it and turn their backs on the holy commandment that was committed to them. 22 Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.”

3 Joseph’s master saw that the LORD was with him. the LORD made him succeed in everything he did. 4 And Joseph found favour in his eyes, and attended on him; and he set him over his house, and all that he had he gave into his hand. 5 And it happened that from the time he appointed him over his house and over all that he had, the LORD blessed the house of the Egyptian on account of Joseph. And the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house and in the field. 6 He left all that he had in Joseph's hand. He did not concern himself with anything, except for the food which he ate. Joseph was well-built and handsome. 7 and after these things his master's wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, Lie with me; 8 But he refused and said to his master's wife, "Look, my master does not worry about what is in the house, and everything he owns he has put in my hand. 9 No one is greater in this house than I am, and he has not kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” 10 She kept asking Joseph day after day. He refused to go to bed with her or be with her. 11 One day he went into the house to do his work. None of the household servants were there. 12 She caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me!” He left his garment in her hand, and ran outside.

Nehemiah 13:26-27

26 "Was it not in these things that Solomon, king of Israel, did wrong? Among a number of nations there was no king like him. He was dear to his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Proverbs 5:3-20

3 For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil. 4 But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. 5 Her feet go down to death, her steps lead straight to Sheol. 6 She gives no thought to the way of life. Her ways are crooked, and she doesn’t know it. 7 Now, children, listen to me. Do not turn away from what I am saying. 8 Keep far away from her. Do not go near the door of her house. 9 lest you give your honor to others and your years to the cruel; 10 lest strangers feast on your wealth, and your labors enrich another man's house. 11 and you groan at your end, when your flesh and body are consumed, 12 And you say, How I have hated discipline, And my heart has spurned correction!" 13 I did not obey my teachers and did not listen to my instructors. 14 I have come to the brink of utter ruin, in the midst of the gathered assembly." 15 Drink water from your own cistern. Drink running water from your own well. 16 Should your springs overflow in the streets, streams of water in the public squares? 17 Let them be yours alone. Do not share with strangers. 18 May your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth. 19 A loving doe and a graceful deer-- let her breasts satisfy you at all times. Be captivated always with her love. 20 For why should you, my son, be captivated with an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another?

Proverbs 7:5-23

5 That they may keep you from the adulteress, from the stranger with seductive words. 6 For at the window of my house, I looked out through my lattice. 7 And I saw among the simple, I observed among the youth, a young man lacking ⌊sense⌋, 8 Passing in the street near her corner; and he will step the way of her house, 9 at twilight, at the day's evening, in the midst of night and the darkness. 10 Behold, there a woman met him with the attire of a prostitute, and with crafty intent. 11 She is loud and defiant. Her feet don’t stay in her house. 12 Now in the street, now in the square, at every corner she lies in wait. 13 So she grabs hold of him and kisses him, with a brazen face she speaks to him, 14 "I have given my peace offerings, and today I fulfilled my vows. 15 So I have come out to meet you, to seek your face, and I have found you. 16 "I covered my bed with fine linen from Egypt. 17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. 18 Come, let us revel in love until the morning, let us delight ourselves with loves. 19 For my husband is not at home, he has gone on a long journey: 20 He has taken a bag of money with him. He will come home at the full moon." 21 With her fair words she overcame him, forcing him with her smooth lips. 22 He followed her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, as a fool stepping into a noose. 23 until an arrow pierces his entrails, like a bird rushing into a snare, but he does not know that it will cost him his life.

Malachi 2:14-16

14 Yet you ask, 'For what reason?' Because the LORD acts as a witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you broke faith with her, your partner, the wife of your covenant. 15 Did he not make them one? And the vestige of the spirit remains in him. And why did he make them one? He was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and don't break faith with the wife of your youth. 16 "For I hate divorce," says the LORD, the God of Israel, "and he who covers his clothing with violence," says the LORD of hosts. "You must be attentive to your spirit and you must not be unfaithful."

Proverbs 5:4-14

14 I have come to the brink of utter ruin, in the midst of the gathered assembly."

Proverbs 6:26-35

26 For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished. 30 Men do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his hunger when he is starving. 31 but if he is found, he must repay seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house. 32 He who commits adultery with a woman lacks judgment and destroys himself. 33 A wound and dishonour shall he get, and his reproach shall never be wiped away. 34 because jealousy incites a strong man's rage, and he will show no mercy when it's time for revenge. 35 He will not accept any compensation, and he will not be willing, though the bribe is large.

Proverbs 7:22-27

22 He followed her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, as a fool stepping into a noose. 23 until an arrow pierces his entrails, like a bird rushing into a snare, but he does not know that it will cost him his life. 24 Now therefore, sons, listen to me. Pay attention to the words of my mouth. 25 Do not let your heart turn to her ways. Do not go astray in her paths, 26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, all her slain are a mighty host 27 Her house is the way to the grave, going down to the chambers of death.
