¹ My son, if you will receive my words, and store up my commandments within you, ² so as to turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; ³ if, indeed, you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, ⁴ If you seek it as for silver And search for it as for buried treasures, ⁵ then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. ⁷ He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, ⁸ guarding the paths of the just and protecting the way of his faithful ones. ⁹ Then you will understand what is right, just, and upright every good path. ¹⁰ For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. ¹¹ Discretion will protect you; understanding will watch over you, ¹² to rescue you from the way of evil - from the man who words perversions: ¹³ Who leave the right way, and walk by dark ways: ¹⁴ who delight in doing evil, and rejoice in the perverseness of evil; ¹⁵ whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways, ¹⁶ delivering you from the adulteress, from the immoral woman with her seductive words, ¹⁷ who forsakes the prince of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God. ¹⁸ For her house leads down to death, and her paths down to the realm of the dead. ¹⁹ None who go to her return, nor do they reach the paths of life. ²⁰ That you may walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous. ²¹ For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the blameless shall remain in it ²² But the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the treacherous will be uprooted from it.

⁶ These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart; ⁷ Repeat them to your sons, and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down and when you arise. ⁸ Tie them as reminders on your forearm, bind them on your forehead, ⁹ and write them on the door frames of your house and on your gates."

¹² "I have not departed from the command of his lips. I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

⁹ BET How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. ¹⁰ I have sought you with all of my heart; do not let me drift away from your commands. ¹¹ I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

³ To receive the discipline of wisdom, justice, and right, and equity;

¹ My son, do not forget my teaching; but let your heart keep my commandments:

¹ Listen, sons, to a father's instruction. Pay attention and know understanding;

¹⁰ Listen, my son, and receive my sayings. The years of your life will be many.

²⁰ My son, pay attention to my words, and listen closely to what I say. ²¹ Do not let them out of your sight; keep them within your heart. ²² For they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body.

²¹ bind them upon your heart forever, tie them around your neck.

¹ My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you.

⁴⁴ The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and in his joy he went and sold all he had and bought that field.

¹⁹ But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

⁵¹ Then He went down to Nazareth with them and was subject to them. But His mother treasured up all these things in her heart.

⁴⁴ "Listen carefully to these words. The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into human hands."

⁴⁷ As for anyone who hears My words and does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world. ⁴⁸ There is a judge for the one who rejects Me and does not receive My words: The word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.

¹⁵ It is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinnersof whom I am the foremost.

¹² So teach us to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

¹¹¹ I inherited thy testimonies forever: for they are the joy of my heart. ¹¹² My heart is ever ready to keep your rules, even to the end.

¹ An unfriendly man pursues selfishness, and defies all sound judgment.

¹⁷ Pay attention and listen to the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my teaching, ¹⁸ For it is a delight to keep them in your heart, to have them ready on your lips. ¹⁹ That your trust may be in the LORD, I teach you today, even you. ²⁰ Have I not written for you 30 sayings containing counsel and knowledge, ²¹ to teach you true and reliable advice, so you can give truthful answers to those who sent you?

¹² Apply your heart to instruction, and your ears to the words of knowledge.

²⁵ I applied my heart to know and to search and to seek out wisdom and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly and the madness of error;

⁹ All this have I seen, and applied my heart to every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man rules over another to his own hurt.

¹⁶ When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done on the earth (even though eyes see no sleep day or night),

³ Give ear and come to me; listen to me, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.

⁹ He who has ears, let him hear."

¹¹ Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true.

⁹ So give your servant an understanding mind to govern your people, so I can discern between good and evil. Otherwise, how shall I be able to govern this great people of yours?" ¹⁰ The LORD was pleased that Solomon had asked for this, ¹¹ And God said to him, Because your request is for this thing, and not for long life for yourself or for wealth or for the destruction of your haters, but for wisdom to be a judge of causes; ¹² "I will do what you have asked. I will give you more wisdom and understanding than anyone has ever had. There has never been nor will ever be anyone like you.

¹² "May the LORD give you discretion and understanding when he puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the LORD your God.

⁴ Show me your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. ⁵ Lead me in Your truth, and teach me; for You are God my Savior; and I have waited on You all the day.

³⁴ Make me understand, and I will preserve Your law And keep it with all my heart."

⁷³ ( ι - [Yod.]) Your hands made and formed me; give me understanding, that I may learn your commands.

¹²⁵ I am your servant; give me understanding, that I may know your statutes.

¹⁶⁹ Let my cry come before you, O LORD; give me understanding according to your word.

⁶ In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

¹⁷ I love those who love me, and those who seek me will find me.

¹³ If ye then, though evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!

¹⁷ and asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in your knowledge of Him. ¹⁸ I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

⁵ If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

²¹ »They long for death that does not come. They search for it more than for hidden treasure.

¹² "Where can wisdom be found? Where is understanding's home? ¹³ Man does not know the price of it; nor is it found in the land of the living. ¹⁴ The deep says, It is not in me; and the sea says, It is not with me. ¹⁵ It can’t be gotten for gold, neither will silver be weighed for its price. ¹⁶ "It cannot be bought with the gold from Ophir or with precious onyx or sapphire. ¹⁷ "Neither gold nor crystal can equal its value. Nor can it be exchanged for jewelry of fine gold. ¹⁸ Corals and pearl are not remembered, The acquisition of wisdom is above rubies. ¹⁹ The topaz of Cush cannot be compared with it; it cannot be bought for pure gold. ²⁰ "Where does wisdom come from? Where does understanding live?

¹⁰ They are more precious than gold, even much fine gold, and sweeter than honey and drops from the honeycomb.

¹⁴ I rejoice in the way of your witnesses as over all wealth;

⁷² The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver.

¹²⁷ Therefore I love your commandments more than gold, yes, more than pure gold.

¹⁴ For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold. ¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire compares with her.

¹⁸ With me are riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity. ¹⁹ My fruit is better than gold, even refined gold, and my yield than choice silver.

¹⁶ How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding instead of silver!

²³ Buy the truth, and do not sell it. Get wisdom, discipline, and understanding.

⁸ There is one who is alone, and he has neither son nor brother. There is no end to all of his labor, neither are his eyes satisfied with wealth. For whom then, do I labor, and deprive my soul of enjoyment? This also is vanity, yes, it is a miserable business.

¹⁹ Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. ²⁰ But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. ²¹ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

²¹ Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.” ²² When the young man heard this, he went away in sorrow, because he had great wealth.

²⁹ And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields on account of my name will receive a hundred times as much, and will inherit eternal life.

⁸ The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the sons of this age are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the sons of light.

¹⁰ Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of yours?” ¹¹ Then God said to Solomon, "Because this was with your heart and you did not ask for wealth, possessions, honor, and the lives of your enemies, and also did not ask for long life, but have asked for wisdom and knowledge that you might judge my people over whom I have made you king, ¹² Wisdom and knowledge are given to you; and I will give you wealth and honour, such as no king has had before you or ever will have after you.

²⁸ And he said unto man, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to eschew evil is understanding.

⁷ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

²⁴ but let him who boasts boast in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am the LORD who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight," says the LORD.

⁷ I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God; for they will return to me with their whole heart.

³⁴ And they will teach no more every man his neighbor and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD, for they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity and I will remember their sin no more.

⁴⁰ "I will make an eternal promise to them that I will never stop blessing them. I will make them respect me so that they will never turn away from me. ⁴¹ I'll rejoice over them to do good for them, and I'll faithfully plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.

³ Let us acknowledge the LORD. Let us press on to know the LORD. As surely as the sun rises, The LORD will appear. He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain that waters the earth."

⁷ Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. ⁸ For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

²⁷ "All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

²² All things have been entrusted to Me by My Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son, and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.”

⁹ So I tell you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. ¹⁰ For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. ¹¹ Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? ¹² Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? ¹³ If ye then, though evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!

³ Now this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

³ and I've filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and all kinds of craftsmanship

⁹ So give your servant an understanding mind to govern your people, so I can discern between good and evil. Otherwise, how shall I be able to govern this great people of yours?"

¹² "I will do what you have asked. I will give you more wisdom and understanding than anyone has ever had. There has never been nor will ever be anyone like you.

²⁹ God gave Solomon wisdom and exceptional insight, and very great understanding, even as the sand that is on the seashore.

⁸ But it is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty, that giveth them understanding.

⁷ The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul, The testimonies of the LORD are stedfast, Making wise the simple,

⁹⁸ Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, because they are ever with me.

¹⁰⁴ I obtain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every false way.

²³ For instruction is a lamp, and law is a light, And the reproofs of discipline are the way to life,

⁵ You simple, understand prudence! You fools, be of an understanding heart! ⁶ Listen, because I have noble things to say, and what I have to say will reveal what is right. ⁷ My mouth shall meditate truth, and my lips shall hate wickedness. ⁸ all the sayings of my mouth are in justness; naught of them is twisted or perverted: ⁹ They are all plain to him who understands, and right to those who find knowledge.

²⁰ To the Law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this Word, it is because no light is in them.

¹³ And all your sons will be taught of the LORD and great will be the peace of your sons.

¹⁷ And as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and understanding in all literature and science; and Daniel was skilled in all visions and dreams.

²¹ "He changes the times and the seasons. He removes kings, and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to the discerning.

²³ "I thank you, and praise you, O God of my fathers. You have given me wisdom and might. You have made known to me what we desired from you. For you have made known to us the king's situation."

¹⁵ For I will give you speech and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.

⁴⁵ It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me—

¹⁷ Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow.

⁸ The proud beasts have not trodden it, nor hath the lion passed thereby.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

² my loyal love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, and one in whom I take refuge, the one who subdues peoples under me.

¹⁴ Counsel and sound knowledge are mine. I have understanding and power.

⁸ The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.

¹⁸ Whoever walks blamelessly is kept safe; but one with perverse ways will fall suddenly.

⁵ "Every word of God is flawless. He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

¹⁹ For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”

²⁴ but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

³⁰ It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God: our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.

⁶ But we speak wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to naught. ⁷ But we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and which God destined for our glory before the ages.

¹⁸ Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this age, he should become a fool, so that he may become wise. ¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness.”

³ in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

¹⁵ From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, ¹⁷ so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

¹⁵ Such wisdom does not come from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. ¹⁶ For where there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and every evil practice. ¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere.

³ Yes, he loves the people. All his holy ones are in your hand. They sat down at your feet; each receives your words.

²⁶ There is none like the God of Jeshurun, who rides on the heaven to your help, and in His majesty on the clouds. ²⁷ The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before you; and shall say, Destroy them. ²⁸ Israel shall dwell in safety alone, the fountain of Jacob in a land of grain and new wine. Yes, His heavens drop down dew. ²⁹ How blessed are you, Israel! Who can be like you, a people delivered by the LORD, your shield of help and your finely crafted sword. May your enemies cower before you. You will tread down their high places.

⁹ He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

⁶ for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

³ He restores my soul; He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

²³ The LORD ordereth a good man's going, and hath pleasure in his way. ²⁴ Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for the LORD holds him up with his hand.

²⁸ For the LORD loves justice and will not forsake his faithful ones. They are protected forever. But the children of the wicked will be cut off.

³¹ The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slide.

⁹ He gives us life and does not permit our feet to slip.

⁵ the LORD is your protector; the LORD is your shade at your right hand. ⁶ The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. ⁷ The LORD will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. ⁸ The LORD will guard your goings and comings, from this time on and forever.

²⁰ the LORD watches over all those who love Him; but all the wicked He will destroy.

²¹ My son, keep good sense, and do not let wise purpose go from your eyes. ²² They will mean life to you and adornment to your neck. ²³ Then you will walk in your way securely and your foot will not stumble. ²⁴ When you sit down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be pleasant.

²⁰ I walk on the way of righteousness, along paths that are just,

⁹ No lion will be there, nor will any ravenous beast go up in it. They will not be found there. But the redeemed will walk there.

⁹ to say to the bound, Come! To them in darkness, Expose! They graze in the ways with their pastures in all the barrens: ¹⁰ They shall not hunger nor shall they thirst, nor shall the burning wind nor the sun smite them; but he who hath compassion on them will comfort them and lead them to bursting springs of water.

²⁸ I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one shall snatch them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

⁵ who through faith are protected by God’s power for the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

²⁴ Now to Him who is able to keep them from stumbling and to present them before His glorious presence without fault and with exultation—

⁸ Good and right is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. ⁹ He leads humble people to do what is right, and he teaches them his way.

⁸ I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you.

⁹⁹ I have more insight than all my teachers, for your laws are my meditation.

¹⁰⁵ NUN Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.

⁸ In the morning let me hear of your gracious love, for in you I trust. Cause me to know the way I should take, because I have set my hope on you. ⁹ Deliver me from my enemies, O LORD. I take refuge in you. ¹⁰ Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

² These proverbs are for gaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight; ³ To receive the discipline of wisdom, justice, and right, and equity; ⁴ for giving prudence to the naïve, knowledge and discretion to the young. ⁵ Let the wise listen and increase their learning; let the person of understanding receive guidance ⁶ to understand a proverb, and parables, the words and riddles of the wise.

⁸ And a highway will be there, and it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it will be for those who walk in the Way. Wicked fools will not go there.

¹⁷ So says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.

¹⁶ This is what the LORD says: "Stand beside the roads and watch. Ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is. Walk in it and find rest for yourselves. But they said, 'We won't walk in it!'

¹³ Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. ¹⁴ But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it.

⁶ Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

³⁴ May my meditation be pleasing to him. I will be glad in the LORD.

⁹⁷ O How I love your law! It is my meditation all day long.

¹⁰³ How sweet are your words to my taste! Sweeter than honey to my mouth!

¹¹¹ I inherited thy testimonies forever: for they are the joy of my heart.

¹⁶² I rejoice at your word, as one who finds great spoil.

³³ Wisdom rests in the heart of the intelligent, but among fools it is revealed.

¹ An unfriendly man pursues selfishness, and defies all sound judgment. ² A fool has no delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own opinion.

¹³ Eat honey, my son, for it is good; and a honeycomb is sweet to thy taste: ¹⁴ Thus know wisdom for the sake of your soul, if you find it, then there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.

¹⁶ But to me your word is a joy, making my heart glad; for I am named by your name, O Lord God of armies.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

²¹ Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, because I wait for you.

⁶ "Do not abandon her, and she will protect you. Love her, and she will watch over you.

²² When you go, they will lead you; when you sleep they will watch over you and when you awake, they will talk to you. ²³ For instruction is a lamp, and law is a light, And the reproofs of discipline are the way to life, ²⁴ to keep you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the wayward wife's tongue.

¹⁵ but there was found therein, a man, poor [but] wise, and, he, delivered the city by his wisdom,—yet, no one, remembered that poor man. ¹⁶ And I said, Wisdom is better than strength; but the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. ¹⁷ The softly spoken words of the wise are to be heard rather than the shouts of a ruler of fools. ¹⁸ Wisdom is better than weapons of war; but one sinner destroys much good.

¹⁰ If the ax is blunt, and one doesn't sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but skill brings success.

¹⁵ Be strictly careful, then, how you live, not as unwise but as wise.

⁴ As for the deeds of men, by the word of your lips, I have kept myself from the ways of the violent. ⁵ My steps have held fast to your paths. My feet have not slipped.

⁴ I do not sit with deceitful people, nor will I go about with hypocrites. ⁵ I hate the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.

⁴ A perverse heart will be far from me. I will have nothing to do with evil.

⁴ Let not my heart turn aside to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men who work iniquity; and let me not eat of their delicacies.

¹⁰ My son, if sinners entice you, do not comply with them;" ¹¹ If they say: 'Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood, let us lurk for the innocent without cause; ¹² Let's swallow them alive like Sheol, and whole like those who go down into the pit. ¹³ We'll find all valuable wealth. We'll fill our houses with plunder. ¹⁴ Throw in your lot with us. We'll all have one purse." ¹⁵ My son, do not go along with them, and keep your feet away from their paths! ¹⁶ for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood. ¹⁷ Look, it is useless to spread a net in full view of all the birds, ¹⁸ but these people lie in wait for their own blood. They ambush only themselves. ¹⁹ Such is the way of all those who seek illicit gain it takes away the lives of those who possess it.

³² the LORD hates people who do evil. He takes righteous people into his confidence.

¹⁴ Do not enter into the path of the wicked. Do not walk in the way of evil men. ¹⁵ Avoid it; do not pass by it; turn from it, and pass on! ¹⁶ For they do not sleep, unless they do evil. Their sleep is taken away, unless they make someone fall. ¹⁷ They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.

¹³ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil. I hate: pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth.

⁶ Leave your simple ways, and live. Walk in the way of understanding."

²⁰ One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

²⁸ A perverse man stirs up strife, and a gossip separates close friends. ²⁹ A violent man entices his neighbor, and leads him into the way that is not good. ³⁰ One who winks his eyes to plot perversities, one who compresses his lips, is bent on evil.

³ For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity. Your lips have spoken lies. Your tongue mutters wickedness. ⁴ No one calls for justice and no one pleads his case truthfully. People trust pointless arguments and speak lies. They conceive trouble and give birth to evil. ⁵ They hatch viper eggs and weave spider webs. Those who eat their eggs will die. When an egg is crushed, a poisonous snake is hatched.

³⁰ Even from your own number, men will rise up and distort the truth to draw away disciples after them.

³³ Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

¹⁷ Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.

¹³ These are of those who rebel against the light. They don't know its ways, nor stay in its paths. ¹⁴ With the light, riseth the murderer, He slayeth the poor and needy, And, in the night, he becometh like a thief. ¹⁵ And the eye of the adulterer waits for dusk, saying, 'No eye will see me,' and he places a covering on his face. ¹⁶ In the dark they dig through houses; by day they shut themselves in; they know not the light:

³ They have all gone aside. They have together become corrupt. There is no one who does good, no, not one.

³ The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit. He has ceased to be wise and to do good.

⁵ They know not, nor do they understand. They walk to and fro in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken.

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is like darkness. They do not know what makes them stumble.

¹⁶ The man who strays from the way of intelligence Comes to rest in the assembly of the Rephaim.

²⁶ When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and dies in it, in his iniquity that he has done, he shall die.

¹² "So you, son of man, say to your people that the righteousness of the righteous shall not save him in the day of his transgression, and the wickedness of the wicked will not cause him to stumble on the day of his returning from his wickedness; and the righteous will not be able to live by it on the day when he returns to his sin. ¹³ When I tell the righteous that he will surely live; if he trusts in his righteousness, and commits iniquity, none of his righteous deeds will be remembered; but he will die in his iniquity that he has committed.

⁶ and those who turned back from following the LORD, and who did not seek the LORD, and did not inquire of him."

⁴³ When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it passes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. ⁴⁴ Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ On its arrival, it finds the house vacant, swept clean and put in order. ⁴⁵ Then it goes, and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they enter in and live there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.

⁶ There came a man who was sent from God. His name was John.

⁹ and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not know where it was from, but the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside ¹⁰ and said, “Everyone serves the fine wine first, and then the cheap wine after the guests are drunk. But you have saved the fine wine until now!” ¹¹ This, the first of the miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee and revealed His glory; and His disciples believed into Him.

¹⁹ And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

³⁵ Then Jesus said to them, "A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest the darkness overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.

²¹ Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give him thanks, but their thinking became nonsense, and their foolish heart was darkened.

⁵ you are all sons of the Light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or the darkness. ⁶ So then let us not be sleeping as do the rest, but let us be watchful and self-controlled. ⁷ For those who sleep, sleep at night; and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.

¹⁰ for Demas, having loved this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.

⁴ It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, ⁵ who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age— ⁶ and then have fallen away—to be restored again to repentance, because they themselves are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting Him to open shame.

²⁰ For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled by them, and overcome, they are worse off in the end than at the beginning. ²¹ It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than to know it and turn their backs on the holy commandment that was committed to them. ²² Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.”

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they did not belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But their departure made it clear that none of them belonged to us.

²³ It is as sport to a fool to do wrong: but a man of understanding has wisdom.

¹⁵ What has my beloved to do in my house, seeing she has worked lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from you? when you do evil, then you rejoice.

³ They gladdened kings with their wickedness, and princes with their lies.

¹⁵ He takes up all of them with the hook; he catches them in his net, and gathers them in his dragnet. Therefore he rejoices and is glad.

¹¹ In that day you will not be put to shame for all your practices, in which you have transgressed against me. For then I will take away out of the midst of you those who rejoice in your pride and you will no more be haughty in my holy mountain.

⁴ And going, he talked with the chief priests and the commanders as to how he might betray Him. ⁵ They were delighted and agreed to give him money.

³² Though they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

⁶ Love does not rejoice with evil, but rejoices with the truth.

⁵ They have dealt corruptly with him. [They are] not his sons, [it is] their blemish, a perverse and crooked generation.

⁵ And those who turn aside to their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them with the evildoers. Peace be upon Israel.

⁸ The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.

⁸ Now go, write it on a tablet with them, and inscribe it on a scroll, that it may be for the time to come, forever, forever. ⁹ These people are rebellious and deceitful children. They refuse to listen to the LORD's Law. ¹⁰ That say to the seers: 'See not,' and to the prophets: 'Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy delusions; ¹¹ Remove from the way, turn aside from the path, cause to cease from before us the Holy One of Israel. ¹² Therefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel: Because you have rejected this word, and have trusted in oppression and tumult, and have leaned upon it: ¹³ This sin will be to you like a crack in a high wall, causing its fall suddenly and in a minute.

⁸ The way of peace they know not; and there is no justice in their paths: they have made themselves crooked paths: whosoever goes in them shall not know peace.

¹⁵ so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine as lights in the world

³ Joseph’s master saw that the LORD was with him. the LORD made him succeed in everything he did. ⁴ And Joseph found favour in his eyes, and attended on him; and he set him over his house, and all that he had he gave into his hand. ⁵ And it happened that from the time he appointed him over his house and over all that he had, the LORD blessed the house of the Egyptian on account of Joseph. And the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house and in the field. ⁶ He left all that he had in Joseph's hand. He did not concern himself with anything, except for the food which he ate. Joseph was well-built and handsome. ⁷ and after these things his master's wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, Lie with me; ⁸ But he refused and said to his master's wife, "Look, my master does not worry about what is in the house, and everything he owns he has put in my hand. ⁹ No one is greater in this house than I am, and he has not kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” ¹⁰ She kept asking Joseph day after day. He refused to go to bed with her or be with her. ¹¹ One day he went into the house to do his work. None of the household servants were there. ¹² She caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me!” He left his garment in her hand, and ran outside.

²⁶ "Was it not in these things that Solomon, king of Israel, did wrong? Among a number of nations there was no king like him. He was dear to his God, and God made him king over all Israel. But even he was made to do evil by strange women. ²⁷ And should we hearken to you to do all this great evil, to act unfaithfully to our God by marrying foreign wives?

³ For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil. ⁴ But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. ⁵ Her feet go down to death, her steps lead straight to Sheol. ⁶ She gives no thought to the way of life. Her ways are crooked, and she doesn’t know it. ⁷ Now, children, listen to me. Do not turn away from what I am saying. ⁸ Keep far away from her. Do not go near the door of her house. ⁹ lest you give your honor to others and your years to the cruel; ¹⁰ lest strangers feast on your wealth, and your labors enrich another man's house. ¹¹ and you groan at your end, when your flesh and body are consumed, ¹² And you say, How I have hated discipline, And my heart has spurned correction!" ¹³ I did not obey my teachers and did not listen to my instructors. ¹⁴ I have come to the brink of utter ruin, in the midst of the gathered assembly." ¹⁵ Drink water from your own cistern. Drink running water from your own well. ¹⁶ Should your springs overflow in the streets, streams of water in the public squares? ¹⁷ Let them be yours alone. Do not share with strangers. ¹⁸ May your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth. ¹⁹ A loving doe and a graceful deer-- let her breasts satisfy you at all times. Be captivated always with her love. ²⁰ For why should you, my son, be captivated with an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another?

²⁴ to keep you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the wayward wife's tongue.

⁵ That they may keep you from the adulteress, from the stranger with seductive words. ⁶ For at the window of my house, I looked out through my lattice. ⁷ And I saw among the simple, I observed among the youth, a young man lacking ⌊sense⌋, ⁸ Passing in the street near her corner; and he will step the way of her house, ⁹ at twilight, at the day's evening, in the midst of night and the darkness. ¹⁰ Behold, there a woman met him with the attire of a prostitute, and with crafty intent. ¹¹ She is loud and defiant. Her feet don’t stay in her house. ¹² Now in the street, now in the square, at every corner she lies in wait. ¹³ So she grabs hold of him and kisses him, with a brazen face she speaks to him, ¹⁴ "I have given my peace offerings, and today I fulfilled my vows. ¹⁵ So I have come out to meet you, to seek your face, and I have found you. ¹⁶ "I covered my bed with fine linen from Egypt. ¹⁷ I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. ¹⁸ Come, let us revel in love until the morning, let us delight ourselves with loves. ¹⁹ For my husband is not at home, he has gone on a long journey: ²⁰ He has taken a bag of money with him. He will come home at the full moon." ²¹ With her fair words she overcame him, forcing him with her smooth lips. ²² He followed her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, as a fool stepping into a noose. ²³ until an arrow pierces his entrails, like a bird rushing into a snare, but he does not know that it will cost him his life.

¹⁴ The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit: he who is under the LORD's wrath will fall into it.

²⁷ For a prostitute is a deep pit; and a wayward wife is a narrow well.

⁵ A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.

²⁶ And I find more bitter than death, the woman whose heart is snares and nets and whose hands are chains. He who pleases God will escape from her, but the sinner will be taken by her.

¹⁸ May your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth.

⁴ Have you not just called out to me, 'My father, you are the friend of my youth

⁸ And I passed by you, and I looked on you, and, behold, your time was the time of love. And I spread My skirt over you and covered your nakedness. And I swore to you and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign LORD. And you became Mine.

⁵⁹ For so says the Sovereign LORD: I will even deal with you as you have done, who have despised the oath in breaking the covenant. ⁶⁰ But I will remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish to you an everlasting covenant.

¹⁴ Yet you ask, 'For what reason?' Because the LORD acts as a witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you broke faith with her, your partner, the wife of your covenant. ¹⁵ Did he not make them one? And the vestige of the spirit remains in him. And why did he make them one? He was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and don't break faith with the wife of your youth. ¹⁶ "For I hate divorce," says the LORD, the God of Israel, "and he who covers his clothing with violence," says the LORD of hosts. "You must be attentive to your spirit and you must not be unfaithful."

²⁶ For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life. ²⁷ Can a man scoop fire into his lap, and his clothes not be burned? ²⁸ Can a man walk on hot coals without scorching his feet? ²⁹ So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished. ³⁰ Men do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his hunger when he is starving. ³¹ but if he is found, he must repay seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house. ³² He who commits adultery with a woman lacks judgment and destroys himself. ³³ A wound and dishonour shall he get, and his reproach shall never be wiped away. ³⁴ because jealousy incites a strong man's rage, and he will show no mercy when it's time for revenge. ³⁵ He will not accept any compensation, and he will not be willing, though the bribe is large.

²² He followed her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, as a fool stepping into a noose. ²³ until an arrow pierces his entrails, like a bird rushing into a snare, but he does not know that it will cost him his life. ²⁴ Now therefore, sons, listen to me. Pay attention to the words of my mouth. ²⁵ Do not let your heart turn to her ways. Do not go astray in her paths, ²⁶ For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, all her slain are a mighty host ²⁷ Her house is the way to the grave, going down to the chambers of death.

¹⁸ But he doesn't know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

⁹ Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who submit to or perform homosexual acts, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

¹⁹ The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; ²⁰ Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strife, jealousy, fits of rage, selfishness, dissensions, factions, ²¹ and envy; drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

⁵ For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure, or greedy person (that is, an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

⁸ But to the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.”

¹⁵ Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

¹² "Therefore I gave them over to their stubborn hearts. They walked in their own counsel.

¹⁸ The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn that grows brighter until the full light of day.

²³ Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard its spots? Then you also may do good, who are accustomed to doing evil.

¹⁴ I will not punish your daughters when they play the prostitute, nor your brides when they commit adultery; because the men consort with prostitutes, and they sacrifice with the shrine prostitutes; so the people without understanding will come to ruin.

²⁴ Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." ²⁵ When the disciples heard this they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” ²⁶ Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

¹⁸ Thus by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be strongly encouraged.

⁶³ I am a friend of all those who fear you, of those who observe your precepts.

¹¹⁵ Depart from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commandments of my God.

⁷ Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you graze your flock, where you rest them at noon; for why should I be as one who is veiled beside the flocks of your companions? ⁸ If you do not know, most beautiful among women, follow the tracks of the sheep. Graze your young goats beside the shepherds' tents.

¹² Then you will not be sluggish, but will imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

¹¹ Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The person who does what is good is from God. The person who does what is evil has never seen God.

¹ There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God, and turned away from evil.

¹² the LORD blessed the latter part of Job's life more than the first. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys.

³ Trust in the LORD, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture.

⁹ For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land.

¹¹ But the meek shall inherit the land, and shall delight in abundance of peace.

²² For those blessed by God will inherit the land, but those cursed by him will be cut off.

²⁹ The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.

⁴ Risen—in darkness, is light to the upright, The gracious and compassionate and righteous. ⁵ Well will it be with the man who is kind, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with justice. ⁶ For he will never be shaken. The righteous will be remembered forever.

³⁰ The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.

²² And the LORD your God will clear away these nations from before you little by little; you will not be able to finish them off quickly, lest the wild animals multiply against you.

⁶³ Just as the LORD delighted to prosper and increase you, so now the LORD will delight to destroy, exterminate, and banish you from the land that you are about to enter to possess." ⁶⁴ "He'll scatter you among the peoples from one end of the earth to the other, and there you'll serve other gods made of wood and stones, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.

¹⁶ "His roots dry up below and his branches wither above. ¹⁷ "The memory of him perishes from the earth. He has no name in the street. ¹⁸ "He is driven from light into darkness and is banished from the world.

³⁰ that the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity, that they are led forth to the day of wrath?

²⁰ But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of Yahweh shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish— vanish like smoke.

³⁷ Observe the blameless, and see the upright, for there is a future for the man of peace. ³⁸ Sinners will be destroyed together; the future of the wicked will be cut off.

⁵ but God will pull you down forever. He will snatch you and tear you away from your tent, and he will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah

³⁵ Let the sinners perish from the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD!

²² The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare him. The cords of his sin hold him firmly. ²³ He will die for lack of discipline, and he goes astray because of his great folly.

¹⁰ Say you to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds. ¹¹ Woe to the wicked. Disaster is upon them; for the work of his hands will be done to him.
