1 Chronicles 13:1-3

1 David conferred with each of his officers, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds. 2 He then said to the whole assembly of Israel: "If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers throughout the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites with them in their towns and pasturelands, to come and join us. 3 "Let us bring the Ark of our God back to us, for we did not inquire of it during the reign of Saul."

1 Chronicles 22:1-19

1 David said: "The house of the LORD God is to be here, and also the altar of burnt offering for Israel." 2 So David gave orders to assemble the foreigners living in Israel. He appointed stonecutters from among them to prepare dressed stone for building the house of God. 3 He provided a large amount of iron to make nails for the doors of the gateways and for the fittings, and more copper than could be weighed. 4 He also provided more cedar logs than could be counted. The Sidonians and Tyrians had brought large numbers of them to David. 5 David said: "My son Solomon is young and inexperienced. The house to be built for the LORD should be of great magnificence and fame and splendor in the sight of all the nations. Therefore I will make preparations for it. So David made extensive preparations before his death." 6 Then he called for his son Solomon and charged him to build a house for the LORD, the God of Israel. 7 David said to Solomon: "My son, I had it in my heart to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God. 8 "The word of the LORD came to me, saying: 'You have shed much blood and have fought many wars. You are not to build a house for my name. This is because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight. 9 »‘You will have a son who will be a man of peace and rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon (peace), and I will grant Israel peace and quiet during his reign. 10 "'He is the one who will build a house for my name. He will be my son, and I will be his father. I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for a very ong time.'" 11 "Now, my son, the LORD is with you, and may you have success and build the house of the LORD your God, as he said you would. 12 "May the LORD give you discretion and understanding when he puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the LORD your God. 13 »You will have success if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws that the LORD gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged. 14 "I have taken great pains to provide for the temple of the LORD three thousand seven hundred and fifty tons of gold, about thirty-seven thousand five hundred tons of silver, quantities of copper and iron too great to be weighed, and wood and stone. And you may add to them. 15 "You have many workmen: stonecutters, masons and carpenters, as well as men skilled in every kind of work 16 in gold and silver, copper and iron, craftsmen beyond number. Now begin the work, and the LORD will be with you." 17 David ordered all the leaders of Israel to help his son Solomon. 18 He said to them: "Is not the LORD your God with you? And has he not granted you rest on every side? For he has handed the inhabitants of the land over to me, and the land is subject to the LORD and to his people. 19 "Devote your mind and heart to seek the LORD your God. Begin to build the sanctuary of the LORD God. That way you may bring the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD and the sacred articles belonging to God into the Temple that will be built for the name of the LORD."

1 Chronicles 28:2-29:17

2 And King David rose to his feet and said, "Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I myself wanted to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the footstool of our God, and I prepared to build. 3 But God said to me, 'You shall not build a house for my name, because you are a man of war, and have shed blood.' 4 But the LORD, the God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever. For He has chosen Judah to be the ruler, and of the house of Judah the house of my father. And in my father's house He was pleased to make me king over all Israel. 5 And of all my sons, for the LORD has given me many sons, He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the LORD, over Israel. 6 He said to me, 'Solomon, your son, shall build my house and my courts; for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father. 7 I will establish his kingdom forever, if he continues to do My commandments and My ordinances as he does at this time'. 8 Now therefore, in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the LORD, and in the audience of our God, observe and seek out all the commandments of the LORD your God; that you may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children after you forever. 9 "And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and a willing mind, for the LORD searches all hearts and understands every plan and all thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you forever. 10 Consider now, for the LORD has chosen you to build a house for him as a sanctuary. Be strong, and do it." 11 Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the entrance hall and the Temple, the storerooms, upper rooms, inner rooms, and the room for the throne of mercy. 12 and the pattern of all that he had in mind for the courts of the house of the LORD, and for all the surrounding rooms, for the treasuries of God's house, and for the treasuries of the dedicated things; 13 also for the divisions of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the LORD; 14 of gold by weight for the gold, for all vessels of every kind of service; for all the vessels of silver by weight, for all vessels of every kind of service; 15 the weight of the gold lamp stands and their gold lamps that is, the weight of gold for each lamp stand and its lamps, the weight of silver for each silver lamp stand and its lamps according to the use of each lamp stand for worship, 16 the weight of gold for each table with the rows of bread, and the silver for the silver tables, 17 the pure gold for the forks, bowls, and pitchers, the weight of each gold bowl, the weight of each silver bowl,

1 Chronicles 29:2-17

2 and with all my force I prepared for the house of my Elohim: gold for the gold; silver for the silver; copper for the copper; iron for the iron; timber for the timber; onyx stones and fillings; stibium stones and of embroidery; and all manner of precious stones and marble stones in abundance. 3 And moreover, in my affection for the house of my God I have given of my own property of gold and silver, for the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the house of the sanctuary: 4 Three thousand talents of gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of fine silver, for the overlaying of the walls of the sanctuary; 5 gold for the golden things and silver for the silver things, for all the work by the hand of skilled craftsmen. Now who will offer willingly, consecrating himself today to the LORD?" 6 Then the leaders of the ancestral houses, and the leaders of the tribes of Israel, and the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, with the officers over the king's work, offered willingly; 7 And they gave for the service of the house of God five thousand talents and ten thousand darics of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of bronze, and one hundred thousand talents of iron. 8 And whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD under the authority of Jehiel the Gershonite. 9 Then the people rejoiced, for they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy. 10 and blessed the Lord in the presence of the assembly, saying, Blessed art thou Lord God of Israel, our Father, from everlasting to everlasting. 11 Yours, O Lord, is the strength and the power and the glory, and the authority and the honour: for everything in heaven and on earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are lifted up as head over all. 12 Wealth and honour come from you, and you are ruler over all, and in your hand is power and strength; it is in your power to make great, and to give strength to all. 13 "Now, our God, we give you thanks, and we praise your glorious name. 14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and we have given you of your own. 15 For we are aliens and vagrants in your presence, as were all of our ancestors. Our days on the earth pass away like shadows, and we have no hope. 16 O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build for you a house for your holy name is from your hand, and all of it is yours. 17 And I know, my God, that You try the heart and are pleased with uprightness; I, in the uprightness of my heart, have offered willingly all these things; and now I have watched with joy Your people who are present here offering willingly to You.

2 Chronicles 1:9-10

9 Now, LORD God, your promise to my father David is fulfilled, because you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth. 10 Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of yours?”

2 Chronicles 15:8-15

8 And when Asa heard these words, the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage and removed the vile idols from all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, and from the cities that he had taken in the hill country of Ephraim, and he repaired the altar of the LORD that was in front of the portico of the LORD. 9 Then he gathered together all of Judah, Benjamin, and people from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who were living among them, since many people had defected to him from Israel when they learned that the LORD his God was with him. 10 They all assembled in Jerusalem during the third month of the fifteen year of Asa's reign. 11 They sacrificed to the that day 700 oxen and 7,000 sheep from they spoil that they had brought with them. 12 They also entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their ancestors with all their heart and soul, 13 And that whoever would not seek the LORD, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. 14 And they took an oath to the LORD with a great voice, with shouting, with trumpets, and with horns. 15 And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found by them: and the LORD gave them rest on all sides.

2 Chronicles 17:3-9

3 The LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and did not seek the Baals, 4 but sought the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not in the ways of Israel. 5 So the LORD established the kingdom in his hand. And all Judah gave tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had much wealth and honor. 6 His heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD. Furthermore, he removed the high places and the Asherim out of Judah. 7 In the third year of his reign he sent his officials, Ben-Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah; 8 With them were the Levites Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, Tob Adonijah, and the priests Elishama and Jehoram. 9 and they taught throughout Judah, and, with them, was the book of the law of the LORD,—so they went round throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

2 Chronicles 19:4-10

4 Jehoshaphat lived at Jerusalem: and he went out again among the people from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim, and brought them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers. 5 He appointed judges in the country, in each fortified city of Judah. 6 And he said to the judges, Take heed what you do. For you do not judge for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment. 7 So let the fear of the LORD rest upon you, be on your guard, and act carefully, because with the LORD our God there is neither injustice, nor partiality, nor bribery." 8 In Jerusalem also Josaphat appointed some of the priests and Levites and patriarchs of Israel, for the judgment of the Lord, and to judge the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 9 He told them: »Faithfully serve the LORD! 10 And whatever cause shall come to you from your brothers that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, you shall even warn them so that they do not sin against the LORD, and wrath come on you and your brothers. Do this and you shall not sin.

2 Chronicles 34:1-33

1 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years. 2 And he did the right in the eyes of the LORD, and walked in the ways of his father David, and did not turn aside to the right or to the left. 3 In the eighth year of his reign, while he was still a boy, he began to seek the God of David his ancestor. And in the twelfth year he began to cleanse Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the Asherahs, the idols, and the images. 4 He tore down the altars of the Baal gods. He cut down the incense altars that were above them. He destroyed the Asherah poles, carved idols, and metal idols. He ground them into powder and scattered the powder over the tombs of those who had sacrificed to them. 5 He burned the bones of the priests on their altars, and purged Judah and Jerusalem. 6 In the cities of Manasseh, Ephraim, Simeon, and as far as Naphtali and their surrounding ruins, 7 Then he tore down the altars, beat the Asherah poles and idols into powder, and cut down all the incense altars everywhere in Israel. Then he went back to Jerusalem. 8 And, in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purified the land and the house, he sent Shaphan son of Azaliah and Maaseiah the ruler of the city and Joah son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD his God. 9 And they came to Hilkiah the high priest and gave the money that was brought for the house of God, which the Levites, the guardians of the threshold, had gathered from the hand of Manasseh, Ephraim, and from the whole remnant of Israel, and from all Judah and Benjamin and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 10 They gave the money to the foremen who were in charge of the LORD's Temple. These foremen gave it to the workmen who were restoring and repairing the Temple. 11 They, in turn, paid the carpenters and builders to purchase quarried stone and timber for binders and beams for the buildings that previous kings of Judah had let deteriorate. 12 The men did their work faithfully under the supervision of Jahath and Obadiah; Levites descended from Merari, and Zechariah and Meshullam descendants of Kohath. The Levites, who were skilled musicians, 13 were over the porters and were directing all who worked on each task. And some of the Levites were scribes, officials, and gatekeepers. 14 While they were bringing out the money that had come in as gifts to the LORD's temple, Hilkiah the priest discovered the Book of the Law of the LORD that had been handed down by Moses. 15 And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, "I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD," and gave the book to Shaphan. 16 Shaphan took the book to the king and reported: »We are doing everything you told us to do. 17 They've removed the money that was found in the Lord's temple and have passed it on to the supervisors and the workmen." 18 And Shaphan the scribe informed the king saying, Hilkijah the priest has given me a book. And Shaphan read out of it before the king. 19 When the king had heard the words of the law, he tore his clothes. 20 The king commanded Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king's servant, saying, 21 Go inquire of the LORD for me, and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found. Great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do according to all that is written in this book. 22 So Hilkiah, and those whom the king [had commanded], went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tokhath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter), and they spok 23 She told them: "This is what the LORD the God of Israel says: "Tell the man who sent you to me, 24 "This is what the LORD says: 'I am going to bring disaster on this place and on the people living here. This is according to the curses written in the book that was read to the king of Judah. 25 because they have abandoned me and burned incense to other gods so as to provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands. And my wrath will be poured out on this place and it will not be quenched.' 26 But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, you shall tell him this, 'the LORD, the God of Israel says: “About the words which you have heard, 27 "Because your heart was sensitive, and you humbled yourself before God when you heard what he had to say about this place and its inhabitants indeed, because you humbled yourself before me, tore your clothes, and cried out to me, I have heard you," declares the LORD. 28 “Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes won’t see all the evil that I will bring on this place and on its inhabitants.”’” They brought back word to the king. 29 Then the king sent and convened all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. 30 And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the people of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people from the great to the small. And he read in their ears all the words of the Book of the Covenant that was found in the house of the LORD. 31 And the king stood at his standing and made a covenant before the LORD, to follow the LORD and to keep his commandments, his witnesses and his statutes with all his heart and with all his soul and to fulfill the words of the covenant written in the said book. 32 He caused all who were found in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. The inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers. 33 And Josiah removed all the detestable things from the whole land that belonged to the Israelites and obligated all who were found in Israel to serve the LORD their God. All his days they did not turn aside from following the LORD, the God of their ancestors.

Nehemiah 5:14-19

14 Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even to the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes the king, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor. 15 But the former governors that were before me laid burdens upon the people, and took of them for bread and wine above forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants lorded over the people; but so did not I, because of the fear of God. 16 I also devoted myself to the work of this wall, and we did not buy land. All of my servants were gathered for the work. 17 There is more, a hundred and fifty of the Jews and the rulers were guests at my table, in addition to those who came to us from the nations nearby. 18 Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days abundant stores of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the food allowance of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people. 19 "Remember me with favor, my God, for everything I've done for this people."

18 And her goods and her wages shall be holiness to the LORD; it shall not be hoarded nor stored; for her goods shall be for those who dwell before the LORD, to eat enough, and for a choice covering.

Isaiah 49:23

23 Kings shall be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. They will bow down to you with their faces to the earth, and lick the dust of your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; and those who wait for me shall not be disappointed.”

Isaiah 60:5-16

5 "Then you will see this and rejoice. Your heart will shake with joy. The riches of the sea will be brought to you. The wealth of the nations will come to you. 6 »Many camels will cover your land, young camels from Midian and Ephah. Everyone from Sheba will come. They will bring gold and incense. They will sing the praises of the LORD. 7 All the flocks of Kedar will be gathered together to you. The rams of Nebaioth will serve you. They will be accepted as offerings on my altar; and I will beautify my glorious house. 8 "Who are these people that fly by like clouds and like doves to their nests? 9 Surely the islands shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, for the name of the LORD your God, and for the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you. 10 “Foreigners will build up your walls, and their kings will serve you: for in my wrath I struck you, but in my favor I have had mercy on you. 11 "Your gates will always be open. They will never be closed day or night so that people may bring you the wealth of the nations. Even their kings are led as prisoners. 12 For that nation and kingdom that will not serve you will perish. Yes, those nations will be utterly wasted. 13 The glory of Lebanon shall come to you: the juniper, the box tree, and the cypress together, to beautify the place of My sanctuary; yea, I will glorify the place of My feet. 14 "The sons of those who oppress you will bow in front of you. All who loathe you will bow at your feet. They will call you the city of the LORD, Zion, the city of the Holy One of Israel. 15 Although you have been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through you, I will make you an eternal excellence, a joy of many generations. 16 You will also drink the milk of the nations, and will nurse from royal breasts. Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

Romans 15:18-19

18 I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obedience by word and deed, 19 by the power of signs and wonders, and by the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.

1 Corinthians 9:16-23

16 Yet when I preach the gospel, I have no reason to boast, because I am obligated to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! 17 For if I transact this voluntarily, I have a reward: but if involuntarily, an administration is entrusted to me. 18 What then is my reward? That in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not use up my rights in preaching it. 19 Though I am free of obligation to anyone, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the Law I became like one under the Law (though I myself am not under the Law), to win those under the Law. 21 To those without the Law I became like one without the Law (though I am not outside the law of God but am under the law of Christ), to win those without the Law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men, so that by all possible means I might save some of them. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, so that I may share in its blessings.

1 Corinthians 15:10

10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not in vain. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.

1 Timothy 6:17-18

17 Charge the rich of this world not to be arrogant, nor to set their hopes on such an uncertain thing as riches, but on God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, and to be generous and ready to share,

2 Timothy 2:6

6 The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive his share of the crops.

2 Timothy 4:5-8

5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time of my departure is near. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 In the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing.

Philemon 1:6-7

6 that the fellowship of your faith may operate in a full knowledge of every good thing in you in Christ Jesus. 7 I take great joy and encouragement in your love, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.

3 John 1:5-8

5 Dear friend, you act faithfully in whatever you do for the brothers, even though they are strangers. 6 They have testified to the church about your love. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God. 7 because it was for the sake of the Name that they went out, accepting nothing from pagans. 8 We therefore ought to welcome such, so that we may work together for the Truth.
