¹² This is my command, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.

³⁴ A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another.

¹⁰ Be devoted to one another with brotherly love; honour one another more than yourselves;

² and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

¹² And may the Lord cause you to increase and overflow with love for one another and for everyone else, just as our love for you overflows,

⁹ Now about brotherly love, you do not need anyone to write to you, because you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another.

³ We ought always to thank God for you, brethren, as is fitting, because your faith grows abundantly, and the love of every one of you for each other grows greater;

²² Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth, so that you have a genuine love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from a pure heart.

⁸ Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble in spirit.

⁸ Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

⁷ Dearly beloved, I am not writing you a new command, but an old one that you have had from the beginning. That old command is the message that you have heard. ⁸ Yet I am writing you a new commandment, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. ⁹ If anyone claims to be in the light but hates his brother, he is still in the darkness. ¹⁰ He who loves his Brother is always in the Light, and there is nothing within him to cause him to stumble;

¹¹ This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. ¹² and not be like Cain who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother's righteous. ¹³ Don’t be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you. ¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death. ¹⁵ Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. ¹⁶ By this we know what love is: Jesus laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. ¹⁷ If anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God abide in him? ¹⁸ Little children, let us not love in word or tongue but in deed and in truth.

²³ And this is his commandment: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus the Messiah, and to love one another as he commanded us.

²¹ Indeed, we have this Command from God-- 'He who loves God must also love his Brother.'
