⁵ Why has this people turned away? Why does Jerusalem continue in apostasy? They hold on to deceit and refuse to repent.

¹³ Hold on to instruction, do not let it go! Guard wisdom, because she is your life!

²⁰ but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it."

¹⁰ That say to the seers: 'See not,' and to the prophets: 'Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy delusions;

²⁰ He feeds on ashes; a deceived mind misleads him. And he cannot save himself, and he cannot say, "Is this not an illusion in my right hand?"

³² Can a virgin forget her finery, a bride her attire? Yet My people have forgotten Me days without number.

¹¹ And the LORD said unto me, "The shrinking Israel is more righteous than the unfaithful Judah: ¹² Go, proclaim these words to the north, and say, 'Return, unfaithful Israel,' declares the LORD. 'I won't look on you in anger, for I am gracious,' declares the LORD. 'I won't remain angry forever. ¹³ 'Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have rebelled against the LORD your God, and have scattered your favors to strangers under every green tree. But you haven't obeyed me,' declares the LORD. ¹⁴ "Return, unfaithful people," declares the LORD, "for I am your husband. I'll take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I'll bring you to Zion.

³ O LORD, are not Your eyes for the truth? You struck them, but they felt no pain. You consumed them, yet they refused to take correction. They made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to return.

²⁷ Like a cage full of birds, so their houses are full of deceit; therefore they have become great and grown rich.

²⁴ But they did not listen, nor bow their ear, but walked in their own plans, in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward and not forward. ²⁵ From the day your ancestors left the land of Egypt to this present time, I've sent all my servants, the prophets, to you, again and again. ²⁶ Yet they did not listen to Me nor bow their ear, but they stiffened their neck. They did more evil than their fathers.

⁶ "You live in the middle of deceit. Through deceit they refuse to know me," says the LORD.

¹⁶ For Israel is stubborn like a stubborn heifer; now shall the LORD feed them as a lamb in a large place?

⁷ "My people are determined to turn (apostatize) from me. Even if they call to the Most High, he will by no means exalt them.

¹¹ But they refused to pay attention, turned their backs, and stopped listening.

⁴⁰ yet you refuse to come to Me to have life.

²¹ but test everything; hold on to the good.

⁹ The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the power of Satan. He will use every kind of power, including miraculous signs, lying wonders, ¹⁰ and with all the deception of wickedness for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. ¹¹ For this reason, God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie, ¹² and so that all may be condemned who have not believed the truth but have taken pleasure in wickedness.

²⁵ See to it that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven?
