²⁶ Therefore hear the Word of the LORD, all Judah that lives in the land of Egypt. Behold, I have sworn by My great name, says the LORD, that My name will no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Sovereign LORD lives.

¹⁶ And he said, "I swear by myself, declares the LORD, that because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only child,

²¹ But as I live, and my name liveth, and the glory of the Lord shall fill the whole earth; ²² For all the men having seen my glory and my signs which I did in Egypt and in the desert, and they will try me this ten times, they heard not to my voice. ²³ they will not see the land that I swore by oath to their ancestors, and all those who despised me will not see it.

²⁸ Say to them, 'Surely as I live,' declares the LORD, 'just as you spoke in my hearing, so I will do to you;

⁴⁰ For I lift up My hand to heaven and say, as surely as I live forever, ⁴¹ if I sharpen my glittering sword, my hand grasps it in judgment; I will take vengeance on my adversaries, and will repay those who hate me. ⁴² I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh, of the blood of the slain and of the captivity, of the bare head of the enemies.

¹⁶ But to the wicked God says, "What right have you to recite my statutes and mention my covenant with your mouth,

³⁴ I will not break my covenant, nor alter what my lips have uttered.

¹ Hear this, house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel and came out from the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of the LORD, and invoke the God of Israel, but not in truth and not in righteousness. ² for they call themselves citizens of the holy city, and rely on the God of Israel; the LORD of Armies is his name.

⁸ the LORD has sworn by his right hand, and by his mighty arm, "Surely I will never again give your grain as food to your enemies, and surely foreigners shall not drink your new wine at which you have labored."

² -- and thou shalt in truth, in justice, and in righteousness swear, [As] the LORD liveth! and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

² Although they say, 'As surely as the LORD lives,' still they are swearing falsely."

⁹ Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods that you have not known,

⁵ But if you don't listen to these words, I swear," declares the LORD, "that this house will become a ruin."'"

¹⁸ As surely as I live," declares the king, whose name is the LORD of the Heavenly Armies. Indeed, one will come like Tabor among the mountains and like Carmel by the sea.

³⁹ As for you, O house of Israel, thus says the Sovereign LORD: Go you. Serve each one his idols and hereafter also, if you will not listen to me. But you will no more profane my holy name with your gifts and with your idols.

⁸ The Sovereign LORD has sworn by himself. the LORD, the God of Hosts declares: "I abhor the pride of Jacob, and hate his palaces. Therefore I will deliver up the city with all that is in it.

¹⁰ "When a man's relative carries him, even he who burns him, to bring bodies out of the house, and asks him who is in the innermost parts of the house, 'Is there yet any with you?' And he says, 'No;' then he will say, 'Hush. Indeed we must not mention the name of the LORD.'

⁷ "The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob: I will never forget anything they have done.

⁴ And stretched out My hand against Judah, And against all inhabiting Jerusalem, And cut off from this place the remnant of Baal, The name of the idolatrous priests, with the priests, ⁵ those who worship the army of the sky on the housetops, those who worship and swear by the LORD and also swear by Malcam,

¹⁸ And to whom did He swear that they would never enter His rest? Was it not to those who disobeyed?

¹³ When God made His promise to Abraham, since He had no one greater to swear by, He swore by Himself,

¹⁸ Thus by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be strongly encouraged.
