⁶ I'll strike down the residents of this city, both people and animals, and they'll die from a terrible plague.

⁷ So the LORD said: "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth. All of them: men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air. I am sorry that I created them."

¹¹ Then I said: "How long, O LORD? And He answered: "Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant, until the houses are deserted and the land is utterly desolate.

¹ the LORD lays the earth waste, annihilates it, disfigures its surface and scatters its inhabitants. ² And it comes to be, as people, so priest, as servant, so his lord, as maid, so her mistress, as buyer, so seller, as borrowee, so borrower, as lender, so him to whom is lent." ³ The earth will be completely uninhabitable and totally plundered. the LORD has spoken this word. ⁴ The earth mourns and withers; the world languishes and withers; the high people of the earth languish: ⁵ The earth also is polluted under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant. ⁶ Therefore a curse devours the earth, and the inhabitants in it suffer for their guilt. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth burn, and few men are left.

²⁰ Therefore the Sovereign LORD says: "My anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place, on man and on beast, on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground. It will burn and not be quenched."

³ You know me, LORD. You see me and test my thoughts toward you. Pull the wicked out like sheep for slaughter; set them apart for the day of butchering. ⁴ How long shall the land be parched, and the grass of every field wither? For the wickedness of those who dwell in it, the animals are consumed, and the birds; because they said, "He shall not see our latter end."

¹² Although they fast, I won't listen to their cry, and although they offer burnt offerings and grain offerings, I won't accept them. Instead, I'll put an end to them with the sword, with famine, and with a plague."

²⁴ Look, the siege ramps have reached the city to take it. Because of the sword, famine, and plague, the city has been given over to the Chaldeans who are fighting against it. What you said has happened, and you are watching it occur!

¹² "This is what the LORD of the Heavenly Armies says: 'In this place that is now a ruin without people or animals, and in all its towns there will again be pasture for shepherds resting their flocks.

¹⁷ "Therefore, this is what the LORD says: 'You haven't obeyed me by each of you proclaiming a release for your brothers and neighbors. Now I'm going to proclaim a release for you,' declares the LORD, 'a release to the sword, to plague, and to famine, and I'll make you a horrifying sight to all the kingdoms of the earth.

²⁹ "Say about King Jehoiakim of Judah: 'This is what the LORD says: You burned this scroll, and you asked Jeremiah: "Why did you write that the king of Babylon would certainly come to destroy this land and take away people and animals?"'"

²² Now, be fully aware that you will die by the sword, by famine, and by plague in the place where you want to settle."

¹² '"One third of your people will die by plague or be consumed by famine! One third will fall by the sword! One third I will scatter to every wind! I will unsheathe a sword behind them (war will follow them). ¹³ '"I will unleash my anger. I will use my fury against you, and I will get revenge. When my fury is unleashed against you, you will know that I, the LORD, spoke to you with all my zeal.

¹⁵ '"Outside are swords and inside are plagues and famines. He who is in a field will die in battle. He who is in the city will be devoured by famines and plagues.

¹⁶ "I will spare a few of them from the sword, the famine and the pestilence that they may tell all their abominations among the nations where they go, and may know that I am the LORD."

¹³ "Son of man, suppose a country sins against me by being unfaithful to me. I will stretch out my hand (use my power) against it, cut off its food supply, send a famine to it, and destroy its people and animals."

¹⁷ Or if I bring a sword on that land and say, Let a sword go through the land, and I will cut off man and beast from it;

¹⁹ "Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my wrath on it in blood, to cut off from it man and animal;

²¹ '"This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'I will surely send four terrible punishments against Jerusalem. I will send wars, famines, wild animals, and plagues. They will destroy people and animals.

²⁷ Thus you will say to them. The Sovereign LORD says thus: As I live, surely those who are in the waste places will fall by the sword and he who is in the open field I will give to the beasts to be devoured and those who are in the strongholds and in the caves will die of the pestilence.

²⁹ And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I have made the land desolate and a waste because of all their abominations which they have done.

³ Therefore the land mourns, and all those living in it languish with the animals of the field, and the birds of the heaven, and even the fish of the sea are being swept away.

¹² Therefore, because of you, Zion will be plowed up like a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps of rubble, and the temple Mount like a forest high place."

³ I will sweep away man and animal. I will sweep away the birds of the sky, the fish of the sea, and the heaps of rubble with the wicked. I will cut off man from the surface of the earth, says the LORD.

²⁴ They will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
