⁹ Therefore thus says the Sovereign LORD: Woe to the city of blood! I also will make the pile great.

³³ For a place of fire has long been ready; yes, it has been made ready for the king; he has made it deep and wide: it is massed with fire and much wood; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of fire, puts a light to it.

⁹ And his rock will pass away because of terror and his rulers will be dismayed at the ensign, says the LORD, whose fire is in Zion and his furnace in Jerusalem.

¹⁹ Therefore thus says the Sovereign LORD: Because you have all become dross, therefore, behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. ²⁰ As they gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the middle of the furnace, to blow the fire on it, to melt it; so I will gather you in my anger and in my wrath, and I will lay you there, and melt you. ²¹ Yes, I will gather you, and blow on you with the fire of my wrath, and you shall be melted in its midst. ²² '"As silver is melted in the furnace, you will be melted in the midst of her. You will know that I, the LORD, have poured out my wrath on you."'

³¹ I will pour out my wrath upon them; I consumed them in the fire of mine anger: I gave their way upon their head, says the Sovereign LORD.

⁶ Therefore thus says the Sovereign LORD: "Woe to the city of bloodguilt! A pot that has its rust in it; its rust did not go out from it. Bring it out piece by piece; one is as good as another.

¹ Woe to the city of blood! it is all full of lies and robbery; never ceaseth the preying;

¹² "Woe to him who builds a town with bloodshed and establishes a city with iniquity!

³⁴ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling. ³⁵ Look, your house is left to you desolate. And I tell you, you will not see Me again until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.’”

⁸ Taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁷ But by the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. ⁸ But do not overlook this one fact, dear friends, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like one day. ⁹ The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. ¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be dissolved in the fire, and the earth and its works will not be found. ¹¹ Since everything will be dissolved in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to conduct yourselves in holiness and godliness ¹² as you anticipate and hasten the coming of the day of God, when the heavens will be dissolved by fire and the elements will melt in the heat.

⁷ So also, in a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah, and their surrounding towns, which had abandoned themselves to sexual immorality and [sexually] perverted behavior, serve as an example [of people] who [will] suffer the punishment of never ending fire.

²⁰ The 'grapes were trodden in the press' outside the city; and blood came out of the press, rising as high as the bridles of the horses for a distance of two hundred miles.

⁶ for they shed the blood of your people and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink, as they deserve."

¹⁹ The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. And God remembered Babylon the great and gave her the cup of the wine of the fury of His wrath.

⁸ But to the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.”
