1 Timothy 4 Cross References - VIN

1 Now the Spirit expressly states that in later times some will abandon the faith to follow deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, 2 through the pretensions of liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron, 3 They forbid people to get married and require them to avoid [eating] certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and [fully] know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good, and nothing should be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated through the word of God and prayer. 6 Suggesting these things to the brethren, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith and of the good teaching which you have strictly followed; 7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself in godliness. 8 Now physical exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things, holding promises for both this present life and the one to come. 9 This is a trustworthy saying that deserves complete acceptance. 10 To this end we labor and strive, because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe. 11 Command and teach these things. 12 Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example for other believers in your speech, behavior, love, faithfulness, and purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. 14 Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you through prophetic utterance when the council of elders laid their hands on you. 15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that all may see your progress. 16 Take heed to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in them, for if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

15 rather, speaking the truth in love, let us in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, Christ; 16 From Him the whole body is fitted and held together by every supporting ligament. And as each individual part does its work, the body grows and builds itself up in love.

Ephesians 6:21

21 Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know about me and what I am doing.

1 Thessalonians 3:2

2 We sent Timothy, our brother and God’s fellow worker in the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith,

1 Timothy 1:10

10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine

1 Timothy 4:16

16 Take heed to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in them, for if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

1 Timothy 6:3

3 If anyone teaches another doctrine and disagrees with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and with godly teaching,

2 Timothy 1:6

6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

2 Timothy 2:14-15

14 Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to dispute about words, useful for nothing, for the ruin of the hearers. 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, knowing from whom you learned it, 15 From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 4:3

3 For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires.

Titus 2:1

1 But you must teach what accords with sound doctrine:

Titus 2:7-10

7 In everything, show yourself to be an example by doing good works. In your teaching show integrity, dignity, 8 and soundness of speech that can’t be condemned, that he who opposes you may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us. 9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not to talk back to them, 10 and not to steal, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in everything they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.

1 Peter 2:2

2 Like newborn infants, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,

2 Peter 1:12-15

12 Therefore I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. 13 I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of my body, 14 since I know that it will soon be laid aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 15 And I will make every effort to ensure that after my departure, you will be able to recall these things at all times.

2 Peter 3:1-2

1 Beloved, this is now my second letter to you. Both of them are reminders to stir you to wholesome thinking 2 to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the commandment of our Lord and Savior spoken through your apostles.

11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

1 Timothy 6:20

20 O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,

Deuteronomy 28:1-14

1 "Indeed, if you diligently obey the LORD your God to carry out all his commands that I'm giving you today, then the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. 2 Moreover, all these blessings will come upon you in abundance, if you obey the LORD your God: 3 You shall be blessed in the city, and be blessed in the field. 4 The fruit of your body will be blessed and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beasts, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock. 5 Your basket and your kneading-trough will be blessed. 6 You shall be blessed when you come in, and blessed when you go out. 7 The LORD will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before you. They will come out against you one way, and will flee before you seven ways. 8 "the LORD will command the blessing upon you in your barns and in all that you put your hand to, and He will bless you in the land the LORD your God gives you. 9 "the LORD will establish you as a holy people to himself. He swore this to you, if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways. 10 And all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall fear you. 11 the LORD will grant you abundant prosperity in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. 12 the LORD will open to you his good treasure in the sky, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, and you will not borrow. 13 The Lord will make you the head and not the tail; and you will ever have the highest place, if you give ear to the orders of the Lord your God which I give you today, to keep and to do them; 14 and do not turn aside from any of the words I command you today, to the right or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

You will inspect your house and find nothing missing. 25 "You will find that your children are many and your descendants are like the grass of the earth. 26 You shall come to the grave in full vigor, like a stack of grain comes up in its season.

You will trample the young lion and the serpent underfoot. 14 Because he loves me, therefore I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name. 15 He will call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

11 What is the abundance of your sacrifices to me? says the LORD. I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fattened animals and I do not delight in the blood of bulls and ram-lambs and goats. 12 When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts? 13 Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me; new moons, Sabbaths, and convocations: I can't bear with evil assemblies. 14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth; they are become a burden unto me; I am weary to bear them, 15 "When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you. Even though you offer many prayers, I will not listen because your hands are full of blood. 16 "Wash yourselves! Become clean! Get your evil deeds out of my sight. Stop doing evil.

You fast to quarrel and strife, and to strike with a wicked fist. You shall not fast as you do today, to make your voice heard on the height. 5 Is this the fast that I have chosen? A day for a man to humble his soul? Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under himself? Will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?

Isaiah 65:13-14

2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He redeemed from the hand of the foe;

Psalms 107:6-43

6 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 7 He led them in a straight way to find a city where they could live. 8 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love and his awesome deeds for mankind. 9 For He satisfies the empty soul, and fills the hungry soul with good things, 10 Those who sat in darkness and gloom, prisoners of misery and iron— 11 because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High; 12 And he humbled with trouble their heart; they stumbled, and there was none to help; 13 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. 14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke away their chains. 15 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love, and for his awesome deeds to mankind. 16 For he has broken the gates of bronze, and cut through bars of iron. 17 Because of their rebellious ways, fools suffered for their iniquities. 18 They loathed all food, and even reached the gates of death. 19 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. 20 He sent his message and healed them. He rescued them from the grave. 21 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love, and for his awesome deeds for mankind. 22 Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and talk about his works with shouts of joy. 23 As for them who go to sea in ships, and traffick on the mighty waters; 24 they saw the works of the LORD, and his wonderful deeds in the deep. 25 For he spoke and raised up a stormy wind, and it whipped up its waves. 26 They mount up to the heavens, and they go down to the depths: their soul pined away with evils. 27 They reeled and staggered like a drunkard, and they were at their wits' end. 28 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distresses. 29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves of the sea are still. 30 Then they are glad because it is calm, so he brings them to their desired haven. 31 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his loyal love and his wonderful deeds for the children of humankind, 32 Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the counsel of the elders. 33 He turns rivers into a desert, water springs into a thirsty ground, 34 and a fruitful land into a salt waste because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it. 35 He turns a desert into a pool of water, and a dry land into water springs. 36 There he settled the hungry, where they built a city to live in. 37 They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a productive harvest. 38 And he blesses them and they multiply greatly, and he does not let their cattle become few. 39 When they become few and they are bent down from the oppression of calamity and grief, 40 he pours contempt on princes and causes them to wander in a trackless waste. 41 Yet he lifts the needy out of their affliction, and increases their families like a flock. 42 The righteous will see this and rejoice, but all the wicked will shut their mouths. 43 Whoever is wise, let him observe these things; Let them consider the benignities of the LORD."

1 Corinthians 4:9-13

9 For it seems to me, God has exhibited us apostles at the very end of the procession, like the men condemned to die in the arena. For we have become a spectacle to the whole universe, angels as well as men. 10 We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are honored, but we are dishonored. 11 To this very hour we are hungry and thirsty, we are poorly clad, we are brutally treated, we are homeless. 12 We work hard with our own hands. When we are vilified, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; 13 when we are slandered, we answer gently. Up to this moment we have become the scum of the earth, the refuse of the world.

2 Corinthians 4:8-10

8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted but not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

2 Corinthians 6:3-10

3 We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. 4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships, and calamities; 5 in beatings, imprisonments, and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights, and hunger; 6 in purity, knowledge, patience, and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; 7 in truthful speech and in the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; 8 through glory and dishonor, evil report and good report; true, yet regarded as impostors; 9 as unknown, yet well-known; dying, and yet we live on; punished, yet not killed; 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

2 Corinthians 11:23-27

23 Are they servants of Christ? (I speak as one beside himself.) I am more so: in labors more abundantly, in prisons more abundantly, in stripes above measure, and in deaths often. 24 Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. 25 Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked. I spent a night and a day in the open sea. 26 I have been on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, in danger from robbers, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles, in danger in the city, in danger in the wilderness, in danger at sea, and in danger from false brethren; 27 in labor and toil and often without sleep, in hunger and thirst and often without food, in cold and exposure.

10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my conduct, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 my persecutions, and the sufferings that came upon me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, any one who desires to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted;

11 We have spoken freely to you, O Corinthians, and our hearts have been wide open to you. 12 We are not holding back [our affections] from you, but you are holding back your affections [from us]. 13 Now in a fair exchangeI speak as to my childrenopen wide your hearts also. 14 Do not enter a mismatch with unbelievers; for what do righteousness and lawlessness have in common? And what fellowship does light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.” 17 Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.

Then he went on his journey. 16 The servant who had received five talents went and put them to work, and gained five more. 17 So also, he who had the two talents gained two more. 18 But the servant who had received one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground, and hid his master’s money. 19 After a long time the master of those servants returned, and settled accounts with them. 20 The servant who had received five talents came and presented five more. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.’ 21 His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’ 22 Then the servant who had received two talents also came and said, ‘Master, you entrusted me with two talents. See, I have gained two more.’ 23 His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’ 24 Then he who had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew that you are a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed: 25 So in my fear, I went and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what belongs to you.’ 26 But his master answered him, 'You wicked and lazy servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27 Then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have received it back with interest. 28 "'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. 29 For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. But the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 30 And throw that worthless servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

You take up what you did not lay down, and reap what you did not sow.' 22 He said to him, 'I will judge you out of your own mouth, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a hard man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow? 23 Why then didn’t you put my money on deposit, and upon coming I would have collected it with interest?’ 24 And he said to those standing by, 'Take the mina away from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.' 25 ‘Master,’ they said, ‘he already has ten!’ 26 'I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given.
