¹ Now the Spirit expressly states that in later times some will abandon the faith to follow deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, ² through the pretensions of liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron, ³ They forbid people to get married and require them to avoid [eating] certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and [fully] know the truth. ⁴ For everything God created is good, and nothing should be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, ⁵ because it is consecrated through the word of God and prayer. ⁶ Suggesting these things to the brethren, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith and of the good teaching which you have strictly followed; ⁷ Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself in godliness. ⁸ Now physical exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things, holding promises for both this present life and the one to come. ⁹ This is a trustworthy saying that deserves complete acceptance. ¹⁰ To this end we labor and strive, because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe. ¹¹ Command and teach these things. ¹² Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example for other believers in your speech, behavior, love, faithfulness, and purity. ¹³ Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. ¹⁴ Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you through prophetic utterance when the council of elders laid their hands on you. ¹⁵ Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that all may see your progress. ¹⁶ Take heed to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in them, for if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

³ '"However, God did say: 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden. You must not touch it, or you will die.'" ⁴ "You will not die," the serpent said to the woman. ⁵ "God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened. Then you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

¹³ The LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

¹⁴ So now I will go back to my people: but first let me make clear to you what this people will do to your people in days to come.

³⁰ "When you are in trouble (distress) and all these things happen to you in the latter days, turn to the LORD your God and obey his voice.

²⁹ If only they were wise, they would understand this; they would discern for themselves their end.

²² The LORD said to him, 'How?' He said, 'I will go out and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' He said, 'You will entice him, and will also prevail. Go out and do so.' ²³ And now, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets, and the LORD has spoken evil concerning you.

¹⁹ And the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab the king of Israel that he would go up and fall at Ramoth-Gilead?' And one said this, and another said that. ²⁰ A spirit came out, stood before the LORD, and said, 'I will entice him.' "The LORD said to him, 'How?' ²¹ “He said, 'I will go, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' “He said, 'You will entice him, and will prevail also. Go and do so.' ²² And now behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets, and the LORD has spoken evil against you.

² In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the highest of the mountains and exalted above the hills. All the nations will stream to it.

⁴⁷ Yet I will restore the fortunes of Moab in the last of the days," declares the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.

³⁹ "'Afterward, I will return the captives of Elam,'" declares the LORD.

³ the word of the LORD came to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD came upon me.

¹⁶ and you will advance against my people Israel like a cloud covering the land; it will be in the last days, and I will bring you against my land, so that the nations know me, when I show myself holy through you before their eyes, O Gog!" '

¹⁴ "Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the future for the vision is yet for many days."

³⁵ Some of the insightful will fall so they may be refined, purged, and purified until the time of the end, since it will surely come about.'" ³⁶ "'The king will do as he pleases. He'll exalt and magnify himself above every god, speaking amazing things against the God of Gods. He'll succeed until the indignation is completed, because what has been determined must be carried out. ³⁷ He will have no respect for the gods of his fathers or for the god desired by women; he will have no respect for any god: for he will put himself on high over all. ³⁸ But instead he shall honor the god of fortresses; a god whom his fathers did not know shall he honor with gold and silver, and with valuable stones, and costly gifts.

⁵ Afterward the children of Israel shall return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king, and shall come with trembling to the LORD and to his blessings in the last days.

¹ But in the latter days, it will happen that the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established on the top of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills; and peoples will stream to it.

⁵ For many will come in My name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. ⁶ You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. These things must happen, but the end is still to come. ⁷ Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. ⁸ All these are the beginning of birth pains. ⁹ Then they will hand you over to be persecuted and killed, and you will be hated by all nations on account of My name. ¹⁰ At that time many will fall away and will betray and hate one another, ¹¹ Many false prophets will appear and deceive many people, ¹² Because of the multiplication of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.

¹³ However, when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak what He hears, and He will declare to you what is to come.

² While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul, for the work to which I have called them."

¹⁸ Some Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also began to debate with him. Some of them asked, “What is this babbler trying to say?” while others said, “He seems to be advocating foreign gods.” They said this because Paul was proclaiming the good news of Jesus and the resurrection.

²⁵ When they disagreed among themselves, they began to leave, after Paul had made one final statement: "The Holy Spirit spoke the truth to your fathers through Isaiah the prophet:

⁵ For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"), ⁶ yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we exist. And there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we exist.

²⁰ No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God. And I do not want you to be participants with demons.

¹¹ All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions them to each one as He determines.

³ But I am afraid that just as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

¹³ For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. ¹⁵ It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their actions.

¹⁸ Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you with speculation about what he has seen. Such a man is puffed up without basis by his unspiritual mind,

³ Do not let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, ⁴ Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. ⁵ Do ye not remember, that when I was with you, I told you these things? ⁶ And now you know what is holding him back, that he may be revealed in his own time. ⁷ For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now restrains it will continue until he is taken out of the way. ⁸ And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. ⁹ The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the power of Satan. He will use every kind of power, including miraculous signs, lying wonders, ¹⁰ and with all the deception of wickedness for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. ¹¹ For this reason, God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie, ¹² and so that all may be condemned who have not believed the truth but have taken pleasure in wickedness.

¹ Mark this, there are hard times coming in the last days. ² People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, ³ unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, ⁴ Treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God; ⁵ having a form of godliness but denying its power. And turn away from these. ⁶ They are the kind of people who enter homes and influence [morally] weak-willed women, loaded down with sins, [and] led on by all kinds of evil desires. ⁷ Ever learning, but never able to acknowledge the truth. ⁸ Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these oppose the truth—men of depraved mind, disqualified as regards the faith— ⁹ But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those two men, their stupidity will be plain to everyone.

¹³ while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

⁴ So they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

²⁰ He was known before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in the last times for your sake.

¹ Now there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies that even deny the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves.

³ First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.

¹⁸ Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come; by this we know that it is the last hour.

⁶ We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. That is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.

⁴ For certain persons have crept in unnoticed--men spoken of in ancient writings as pre-destined to this condemnation--ungodly men, who pervert the grace of our God into an excuse for immorality, and disown Jesus Christ, our only Sovereign and Lord.

¹⁸ when they said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow after their own ungodly desires.”

⁷ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.'

¹¹ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.'

² The star opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke rose out of it like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the pit. ³ And out of the smoke, locusts descended on the earth, and they were given power like that of the scorpions of the earth. ⁴ They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. ⁵ They were not permitted to kill them, but only to torture them for five months, and the torture they inflicted was like the torture of a scorpion when it stings a man. ⁶ In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, but death will escape them. ⁷ The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were victor's crowns that looked like gold, and their faces were like human faces. ⁸ their hair was like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth. ⁹ They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. ¹⁰ They had tails and stings like scorpions; it was in their tails that their power lay to harm men for five months. ¹¹ They have as king over them the angel of the abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek he has the name Apollyon.

²⁰ The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the works of their hands. They did not stop worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk.

¹⁴ Because of the signs it was given to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived those who dwell on the earth, telling them to make an image to the beast that had been wounded by the sword and yet had lived.

¹⁴ for they are spirits of demons, performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.

² And he called out with a mighty voice, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons, a haunt of every unclean spirit, a haunt of every unclean and hateful bird.

²³ The light of a lamp will never more shine in you. The voices of bridegroom and bride will never again be heard in you. Your merchants were the great ones of the earth; for by your magic arts all the nations were led astray.

²⁰ But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed signs on his behalf, by which he deceived those who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. Both of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

² He seized the dragon, the ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. ³ He threw him into the pit, and closed it and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that time, he must be released for a short while.

⁸ and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to assemble them for battle. Their number is like the sand of the seashore.

¹⁰ The devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are also. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

¹⁸ And he said to him, I am a prophet also as you are. And an angel spoke to me by the Word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with you into your house, so that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied to him.

²² The LORD said to him, 'How?' He said, 'I will go out and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' He said, 'You will entice him, and will also prevail. Go out and do so.'

¹⁵ Elders and dignitaries are the head, and prophets who teach lies are the tail.

²¹ 'Hear this please, O foolish and senseless people, who have eyes but do not see, who have ears but do not hear.'

¹⁴ In the prophets of Jerusalem I have also seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery and walk in lies. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one returns from his wickedness. They have all become to me as Sodom, and its inhabitants as Gomorrah.”

³² Look, I'm against those who prophesy based on false dreams," declares the LORD, "and relate them and lead my people astray with their lies and their recklessness. I didn't send them; I didn't command them, and they provide no benefit at all to these people," declares the LORD.

²³ In the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressions have reached their full measure, a rash and deceitful king shall arise. ²⁴ His power will be mighty, but not by his own power. He will destroy awesomely, and will prosper in what he does. He will destroy the mighty ones and the holy people. ²⁵ "Through his policy he will cause deceit to prosper in his hand. He will boast about himself in his heart. In their security they will destroy many. He will even stand up against the prince of princes; but he will be destroyed without human power.

¹⁵ Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

²⁴ For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible.

³⁰ Even from your own number, men will rise up and distort the truth to draw away disciples after them.

²⁸ And since they did not see fit to retain the knowledge of God, God gave them over to a base mind, to do what ought not to be done.

¹⁸ For such as these are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.

¹⁴ Then we will no longer be infants, tossed about by the waves and carried around by every wind of teaching and by the clever cunning of men in their deceitful scheming.

¹⁹ Having lost all sense of shame, they have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity, with a craving for more.

⁵ having a form of godliness but denying its power. And turn away from these.

¹ Now there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies that even deny the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves. ² Many will follow their immoral ways, and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned. ³ And in their greed they will exploit you with false words; from long ago their condemnation has not been idle, and their destruction has not been asleep.

²⁹ Then God said: "I give you every plant that bears seed on the face of the entire earth. I also give you every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. ³⁰ "Also every beast of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground; everything that has the breath of life in it, I give every green plant for food." It was so.

³ "Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.

¹³ As soon as you enter the town, you will find him, before he goes up to the high place to eat. For the people will not eat until he comes, because he must bless the sacrifice. Then afterward the invited guests will eat. So then, go up, because you will find him today!"

¹⁸ This is what I have seen: it is good and fair for a man to take meat and drink and to have joy in all his work under the sun, all the days of his life which God has given him; that is his reward.

³⁷ He will have no respect for the gods of his fathers or for the god desired by women; he will have no respect for any god: for he will put himself on high over all.

¹⁹ And He instructed the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He spoke a blessing. Then He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the people.

³⁶ He took the seven loaves and the fish and after giving thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the crowds.

³⁰ When he was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.

²³ (Some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks).

³¹ So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in him, "If you continue in my word, you are really my disciples. ³² Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

¹³ Then a voice spoke to him: “Get up, Peter, kill and eat!” ¹⁴ “No, Lord!” Peter answered, “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.” ¹⁵ The voice spoke to him a second time: “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

³⁵ After he had said this, Paul took bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat.

³ The one who eats everything must not belittle the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted him.

⁶ He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.

¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

¹³ “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food,” but God will destroy them both. The body is not intended for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

²⁸ But if you do marry, you have not sinned. And if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.

³⁶ If a man thinks he is not behaving properly toward his virgin, and if his passion is so strong that he feels he ought to marry her, let him do what he wants; he isn't sinning. Let them get married. ³⁷ But the man who is firmly established in his heart and under no constraint, with control over his will and resolve in his heart not to marry the virgin, he will do well. ³⁸ So then, he who marries the virgin does well, but he who does not marry her does even better. ³⁹ A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, as long as he belongs to the Lord.

⁸ But food does not bring us closer to God: We are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.

³⁰ If I partake in the meal with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks? ³¹ So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.

¹⁶ Therefore let no one judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a festival, a New Moon, or a Sabbath.

²⁰ If you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you submit to regulations-- ²¹ "Do not handle. Do not taste. Do not touch." ²² These will all perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. ²³ Such restrictions indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-prescribed worship, their false humility, and their harsh treatment of the body; but they are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.

¹⁷ And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

¹³ But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord; because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth: ¹⁴ He called you to this through our gospel, that you may share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁴ who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

⁴ For everything God created is good, and nothing should be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,

⁴ Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.

⁹ Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace and not by ceremonial foods, which are of no value to those devoted to them.

³¹ God saw all that he had made. It was very good. There was evening, and there was morning, the sixth day.

⁴ The Rock: his work is perfect, for all his ways are just. A God of faithfulness who does no wrong, just and right is he.

⁷ Then I heard a voice saying to me, 'Get up, Peter. Kill and eat!' ⁸ But I replied, 'Absolutely not, Lord, for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth!' ⁹ But the voice spoke from heaven a second time, ‘Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.’

²⁰ Instead, we should write and tell them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals, and from blood. ²¹ For Moses has been proclaimed in every city from ancient times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.”

²⁹ You must abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.”

¹⁴ I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean.

²⁰ Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to let his eating be a stumbling block.

²³ “Everything is permissible,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible,” but not everything is edifying.

²⁵ Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience,

⁷ The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul, The testimonies of the LORD are stedfast, Making wise the simple,

² for I give you sound learning. Do not forsake my law.

¹⁶ But to me your word is a joy, making my heart glad; for I am named by your name, O Lord God of armies.

⁵² He said to them: Therefore, every scribe that is trained for the kingdom of heaven, is like the master of a house, who brings out of his treasury things new and old.

¹⁶ So Jesus answered, "My teaching is not my own; it comes from him who has sent me. ¹⁷ If anyone desires to do His will, he will know whether My teaching is from God or whether I speak on My own.

³¹ Therefore be alert and remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.

³⁵ In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

¹⁵ But I have written to you more boldly on some points, so as to remind you again because of the grace that has been given to me by God,

¹ So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. ² Now it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

¹⁷ That is why I have sent you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which is exactly what I teach everywhere in every church.

⁶ who has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

⁴ Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships, and calamities;

¹⁵ rather, speaking the truth in love, let us in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, Christ; ¹⁶ From Him the whole body is fitted and held together by every supporting ligament. And as each individual part does its work, the body grows and builds itself up in love.

²¹ Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know about me and what I am doing.

¹⁶ Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

¹⁹ and he loses connection to the head, from whom the whole body, supported and knit together by its joints and ligaments, grows as God causes it to grow.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

⁷ Tichicus will tell you all the news about me; he is a dear brother, a faithful minister and fellow slave in the Lord.

² We sent Timothy, our brother and God’s fellow worker in the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith,

¹⁰ for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine

¹⁶ Take heed to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in them, for if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

³ If anyone teaches another doctrine and disagrees with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and with godly teaching,

⁶ For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

¹⁴ Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to dispute about words, useful for nothing, for the ruin of the hearers. ¹⁵ Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

¹⁰ You, however, know all about my teaching, my conduct, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,

¹⁴ But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, knowing from whom you learned it, ¹⁵ From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, ¹⁷ so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

³ For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires.

¹ But you must teach what accords with sound doctrine:

⁷ In everything, show yourself to be an example by doing good works. In your teaching show integrity, dignity, ⁸ and soundness of speech that can’t be condemned, that he who opposes you may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us. ⁹ Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not to talk back to them, ¹⁰ and not to steal, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in everything they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.

² Like newborn infants, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,

¹² Therefore I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. ¹³ I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of my body, ¹⁴ since I know that it will soon be laid aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. ¹⁵ And I will make every effort to ensure that after my departure, you will be able to recall these things at all times.

¹ Beloved, this is now my second letter to you. Both of them are reminders to stir you to wholesome thinking ² to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the commandment of our Lord and Savior spoken through your apostles.

⁹ Anyone who runs ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ does not have God; he who abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

⁵ Although you are fully aware of this, I want to remind you that after Jesus had delivered His people out of the land of Egypt, He destroyed those who did not believe.

¹⁶ Therefore I strive always to have a clear conscience before God and men.

⁴ nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than the divine trainingwhich is by faith.

¹⁰ but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess to worship God.

¹⁶ By common confession, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was proclaimed among the nations, was believed in throughout the world, was taken up in glory.

¹¹ But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

²⁰ O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,

¹⁶ But avoid worldly, empty chatter, for those who practice it will become more and more ungodly,

²³ Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know that they produce quarrels.

¹² In fact, any one who desires to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted;

¹⁴ and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the commands of men who reject the truth.

¹² It trains us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and Godly lives in this present age,

⁹ But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the Law; for they are unprofitable and worthless.

¹⁴ But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained their sensibilities to distinguish good from evil.

⁵ For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; ⁶ and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; ⁷ and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. ⁸ For if you possess these qualities and continue to grow in them, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ "Indeed, if you diligently obey the LORD your God to carry out all his commands that I'm giving you today, then the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. ² Moreover, all these blessings will come upon you in abundance, if you obey the LORD your God: ³ You shall be blessed in the city, and be blessed in the field. ⁴ The fruit of your body will be blessed and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beasts, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock. ⁵ Your basket and your kneading-trough will be blessed. ⁶ You shall be blessed when you come in, and blessed when you go out. ⁷ The LORD will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before you. They will come out against you one way, and will flee before you seven ways. ⁸ "the LORD will command the blessing upon you in your barns and in all that you put your hand to, and He will bless you in the land the LORD your God gives you. ⁹ "the LORD will establish you as a holy people to himself. He swore this to you, if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways. ¹⁰ And all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall fear you. ¹¹ the LORD will grant you abundant prosperity in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. ¹² the LORD will open to you his good treasure in the sky, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, and you will not borrow. ¹³ The Lord will make you the head and not the tail; and you will ever have the highest place, if you give ear to the orders of the Lord your God which I give you today, to keep and to do them; ¹⁴ and do not turn aside from any of the words I command you today, to the right or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

²² And Samuel said, Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice! To listen is better than the fat of rams!

¹⁹ From six troubles he will deliver you, and in seven evil shall not touch you. ²⁰ In famine, He will ransom you from death, And in battle from the hands of the sword. ²¹ "You will be protected from the sharp tongue and you will not be afraid when destruction comes. ²² You'll laugh at destruction and famine; and you need not fear the beasts of the earth. ²³ For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, And the wild animal of the field will be at peace with you. ²⁴ You will know peace in your tent. You will inspect your house and find nothing missing. ²⁵ "You will find that your children are many and your descendants are like the grass of the earth. ²⁶ You shall come to the grave in full vigor, like a stack of grain comes up in its season.

² Can a man be useful to God? For can a wise man be useful to himself?

³ Trust in the LORD, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture. ⁴ Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

⁹ For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land.

¹¹ But the meek shall inherit the land, and shall delight in abundance of peace.

¹⁶ Better is a little that the righteous has, than the abundance of many wicked. ¹⁷ For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous. ¹⁸ The days of the upright are numbered by the Lord, and their heritage will be for ever. ¹⁹ In time of troubles they shall not be shamed, and in days of famine they shall be plentifully fed.

²⁹ The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.

⁷ "Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you. I am God, your God. ⁸ I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices. Your burnt offerings are continually before me. ⁹ I have no need for a bull from your stall, nor male goats from your pens. ¹⁰ For every animal of the forest is Mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. ¹¹ I know every bird of the mountains, and every moving creature in the field is mine. ¹² If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. ¹³ Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? ¹⁴ Offer thanksgiving to God; and pay your vows to the Most High. ¹⁵ Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me."

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

¹⁰ No harm will befall you, and no plague will come near your tent. ¹¹ For he will command his angels concerning you, to watch over you in all your ways. ¹² they will bear you up in their hands, so that you won't dash your foot against a stone. ¹³ You will tread upon the lion and the viper. You will trample the young lion and the serpent underfoot. ¹⁴ Because he loves me, therefore I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name. ¹⁵ He will call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. ¹⁶ With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

¹ Praise Yah! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD; he takes great delight in his commands. ² His seed will be mighty in the land, the generation of the upright will be blessed. ³ Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.

¹ A song of ascents. Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways. ² for you eat the labor of your palms; blithed - and good with you ³ Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house. Your children will be like olive shoots about your table. ⁴ Look, thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD. ⁵ May the LORD bless you from Zion so that you may see Jerusalem prosper all the days of your life. ⁶ And may you see your children's children. Peace be upon Israel.

¹⁹ He fulfilleth the desire of them that fear him; he heareth their cry, and saveth them.

¹⁶ Long life is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor. ¹⁷ Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peaceful. ¹⁸ She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her, and those who hold on to her are blessed

²³ The fear of the LORD leads to life, then contentment; he rests and will not be touched by trouble.

⁴ By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life.

¹² Though a sinner commits crimes a hundred times, and lives long, yet surely I know that it will be better with those who fear God, who are reverent before him.

¹¹ What is the abundance of your sacrifices to me? says the LORD. I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fattened animals and I do not delight in the blood of bulls and ram-lambs and goats. ¹² When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts? ¹³ Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me; new moons, Sabbaths, and convocations: I can't bear with evil assemblies. ¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth; they are become a burden unto me; I am weary to bear them, ¹⁵ "When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you. Even though you offer many prayers, I will not listen because your hands are full of blood. ¹⁶ "Wash yourselves! Become clean! Get your evil deeds out of my sight. Stop doing evil.

¹⁰ Say you to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.

¹⁷ The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever. ¹⁸ My people will live in a peaceful place, in safe homes and quiet places of rest.

¹⁶ This man will dwell on the heights. His refuge will be the mountain fortress. His bread will be supplied, and he will have water.

³ "'Why have we fasted and you do not see? Why have we humbled ourselves and you do not notice? Behold, on the day of your fast you find desire, and mistreat all your workers.' ⁴ Look! You fast to quarrel and strife, and to strike with a wicked fist. You shall not fast as you do today, to make your voice heard on the height. ⁵ Is this the fast that I have chosen? A day for a man to humble his soul? Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under himself? Will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?

¹³ Therefore this is what the Sovereign Sovereign LORD says: My servants will eat, but you will go hungry. My servants will drink, but you will go thirsty. My servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame! ¹⁴ My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit.

²⁰ "What purpose does frankincense come to me from Sheba and the sweet cane from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable and your sacrifices are not pleasing to me."

²¹ I hate, I despise your feasts, and I can’t stand your solemn assemblies. ²² Yes, even if you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them, and I will not look at the fellowship offerings of your fattened animals. ²³ Take away from me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. ²⁴ But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

³ "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. ⁵ Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. ⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. ⁷ Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. ⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. ⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. ¹⁰ Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. ¹² Rejoice and celebrate, because great is your reward in heaven; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.

³³ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you as well.

²⁹ And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields on account of my name will receive a hundred times as much, and will inherit eternal life.

¹⁹ You know the commandments: 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.'" ²⁰ He answered, "Teacher, all these I have kept from my boyhood."

³⁰ but he will receive one hundred times more now in this time: houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land, with persecutions; and in the age to come eternal life.

³¹ But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. ³² Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.

²⁸ And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.

²² Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Kephas, or the world, or life, or death, or the present, or the future-all things are yours!

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain.

⁸ This teaching is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people.

⁹ It is an illustration for the present time, because the gifts and sacrifices being offered were unable to cleanse the conscience of the worshiper. ¹⁰ They consist only in food and drink and special washings—external regulations imposed until the time of reform.

³ His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. ⁴ Through these he has given us his precious and wonderful promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, seeing that you have escaped the corruption that is in the world caused by evil desires.

²⁵ And this is what he has promised useternal life.

¹² He who conquers--I will make him a pillar in the Temple of my God; and never more shall he leave it; and I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the City of my God, the New Jerusalem, which is coming down out of Heaven from my God, and I will write on him my new name.

²¹ To him who overcomes I will grant the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame, and sat down with my Father on his throne.

¹⁵ It is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinnersof whom I am the foremost.

⁶ Your righteousness is like the great mountains; your judgments are a great deep: O LORD, you preserve man and beast.

⁴⁰ the LORD helps them and delivers them. He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take put their trust in Him.

⁸ But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God. I trust the loyal love of God forever and ever.

¹² O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.

² Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He redeemed from the hand of the foe;

⁶ Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. ⁷ He led them in a straight way to find a city where they could live. ⁸ Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love and his awesome deeds for mankind. ⁹ For He satisfies the empty soul, and fills the hungry soul with good things, ¹⁰ Those who sat in darkness and gloom, prisoners of misery and iron— ¹¹ because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High; ¹² And he humbled with trouble their heart; they stumbled, and there was none to help; ¹³ Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. ¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke away their chains. ¹⁵ Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love, and for his awesome deeds to mankind. ¹⁶ For he has broken the gates of bronze, and cut through bars of iron. ¹⁷ Because of their rebellious ways, fools suffered for their iniquities. ¹⁸ They loathed all food, and even reached the gates of death. ¹⁹ Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. ²⁰ He sent his message and healed them. He rescued them from the grave. ²¹ Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love, and for his awesome deeds for mankind. ²² Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and talk about his works with shouts of joy. ²³ As for them who go to sea in ships, and traffick on the mighty waters; ²⁴ they saw the works of the LORD, and his wonderful deeds in the deep. ²⁵ For he spoke and raised up a stormy wind, and it whipped up its waves. ²⁶ They mount up to the heavens, and they go down to the depths: their soul pined away with evils. ²⁷ They reeled and staggered like a drunkard, and they were at their wits' end. ²⁸ Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distresses. ²⁹ He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves of the sea are still. ³⁰ Then they are glad because it is calm, so he brings them to their desired haven. ³¹ Let them give thanks to the LORD for his loyal love and his wonderful deeds for the children of humankind, ³² Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the counsel of the elders. ³³ He turns rivers into a desert, water springs into a thirsty ground, ³⁴ and a fruitful land into a salt waste because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it. ³⁵ He turns a desert into a pool of water, and a dry land into water springs. ³⁶ There he settled the hungry, where they built a city to live in. ³⁷ They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a productive harvest. ³⁸ And he blesses them and they multiply greatly, and he does not let their cattle become few. ³⁹ When they become few and they are bent down from the oppression of calamity and grief, ⁴⁰ he pours contempt on princes and causes them to wander in a trackless waste. ⁴¹ Yet he lifts the needy out of their affliction, and increases their families like a flock. ⁴² The righteous will see this and rejoice, but all the wicked will shut their mouths. ⁴³ Whoever is wise, let him observe these things; Let them consider the benignities of the LORD."

⁸ It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.

² "Truly God is my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid. the LORD… the LORD is my strength and my song! He has become my salvation."

²¹ Declare and bring near; yea, let them consult together. Who has revealed this of old; who has told it from then? Is it not I, the LORD? And there is no God other than Me; a just God and a Savior; there is none except Me. ²² Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

¹⁰ Who among you fears the LORD, who obeys the voice of His servant, who walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rest on his God.

⁷ Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose confidence is in the LORD.

²⁸ Nebuchadnezzar spoke up and said: 'Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego! He sent his angel to deliver his servants who trusted in him. They disobeyed the king's command and were willing to risk their lives in order not to serve or worship any god except their own God.

⁷ the LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.

⁴³ He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, 'I am the Son of God.'"

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

¹⁵ that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. ¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁷ For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

⁴² They said to the woman, "We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man is indeed the Savior of the world."

²⁴ Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.

¹² And again, Isaiah says: “The Root of Jesse will appear, even He who rises up to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will place their hope on Him.” ¹³ Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

⁹ For it seems to me, God has exhibited us apostles at the very end of the procession, like the men condemned to die in the arena. For we have become a spectacle to the whole universe, angels as well as men. ¹⁰ We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are honored, but we are dishonored. ¹¹ To this very hour we are hungry and thirsty, we are poorly clad, we are brutally treated, we are homeless. ¹² We work hard with our own hands. When we are vilified, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; ¹³ when we are slandered, we answer gently. Up to this moment we have become the scum of the earth, the refuse of the world.

⁸ We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; ⁹ persecuted but not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed. ¹⁰ We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

³ We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. ⁴ Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships, and calamities; ⁵ in beatings, imprisonments, and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights, and hunger; ⁶ in purity, knowledge, patience, and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; ⁷ in truthful speech and in the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; ⁸ through glory and dishonor, evil report and good report; true, yet regarded as impostors; ⁹ as unknown, yet well-known; dying, and yet we live on; punished, yet not killed; ¹⁰ sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

²³ Are they servants of Christ? (I speak as one beside himself.) I am more so: in labors more abundantly, in prisons more abundantly, in stripes above measure, and in deaths often. ²⁴ Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. ²⁵ Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked. I spent a night and a day in the open sea. ²⁶ I have been on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, in danger from robbers, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles, in danger in the city, in danger in the wilderness, in danger at sea, and in danger from false brethren; ²⁷ in labor and toil and often without sleep, in hunger and thirst and often without food, in cold and exposure.

⁶ who gave himself as a ransom for allthe testimony given at the proper time.

¹⁵ so that, if I am detained, you may know how people ought to conduct themselves in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

¹⁷ Charge the rich of this world not to be arrogant, nor to set their hopes on such an uncertain thing as riches, but on God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

⁹ for which I am suffering even to the point of wearing chains like a criminal. But the word of God is not chained. ¹⁰ Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

¹⁰ You, however, know all about my teaching, my conduct, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, ¹¹ my persecutions, and the sufferings that came upon me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. ¹² In fact, any one who desires to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted;

²⁶ He thought that being insulted for the sake of the Messiah was of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.

¹³ Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.

²¹ Through Him you believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and glorified Him; and so your faith and hope are in God.

¹⁴ If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. ¹⁵ Indeed, none of you should suffer as a murderer or thief or wrongdoer, or even as a meddler.

² And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

¹⁴ And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world.

¹⁰ Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within him; whoever does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony God has given about His Son. ¹¹ And this is that testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. ¹² He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. ¹³ I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

⁷ Continue to give these instructions, so that they may be blameless.

² Moreover, those who have believing masters should be respectful to them, because they are fellow believers. In fact, they must serve them even better, because those who benefit from their service are believers and dear to them. These are the things you must teach and exhort.

² preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and exhort, with great patience and instruction.

¹⁵ These are the things you should teach. Encourage and refute with full authority. Do not let anyone look down on you.

¹⁰ See that you do not look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.

¹ Follow my example, as I do that of Christ.

¹⁰ If Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is doing the Lord’s work, just as I am. ¹¹ No one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he can return to me, for I am expecting him along with the brothers.

⁴ Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships, and calamities; ⁵ in beatings, imprisonments, and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights, and hunger; ⁶ in purity, knowledge, patience, and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; ⁷ in truthful speech and in the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; ⁸ through glory and dishonor, evil report and good report; true, yet regarded as impostors; ⁹ as unknown, yet well-known; dying, and yet we live on; punished, yet not killed; ¹⁰ sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything. ¹¹ We have spoken freely to you, O Corinthians, and our hearts have been wide open to you. ¹² We are not holding back [our affections] from you, but you are holding back your affections [from us]. ¹³ Now in a fair exchangeI speak as to my childrenopen wide your hearts also. ¹⁴ Do not enter a mismatch with unbelievers; for what do righteousness and lawlessness have in common? And what fellowship does light have with darkness? ¹⁵ What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? ¹⁶ What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.” ¹⁷ Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.

⁸ Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think on these things.

⁶ You became imitators of us and of the Lord. In spite of a great deal of suffering, you welcomed the word with the joy that the Holy Spirit produces.

¹⁰ You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous, and blameless our conduct was among you who believed.

⁷ For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, ⁸ nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. Instead, in labor and toil, we worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you. ⁹ We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves an example for you to follow.

¹⁴ the grace of our Lord overflowed, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

⁷ Consider what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all things.

¹⁵ Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

²² Flee the lusts of youth; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

⁷ In everything, show yourself to be an example by doing good works. In your teaching show integrity, dignity,

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good conduct, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.

¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere.

³ not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

¹⁹ And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to revere the LORD your God by diligently observing all the word of this law and these rules,

⁸ This set of instructions is not to cease being a part of your conversations. meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to carry out everything that's written in it, for then you'll prosper and succeed.

² But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. ³ He is like a tree planted by streams of water. It yields its fruit in season and its leaves do not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

⁹⁷ O How I love your law! It is my meditation all day long. ⁹⁸ Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, because they are ever with me. ⁹⁹ I have more insight than all my teachers, for your laws are my meditation. ¹⁰⁰ I have more common sense than the elders, for I observe your precepts. ¹⁰¹ I have kept my feet from every evil way, so that I might keep Your Word. ¹⁰² I have not departed from your judgments: for you have taught me. ¹⁰³ How sweet are your words to my taste! Sweeter than honey to my mouth! ¹⁰⁴ I obtain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every false way.

⁴ If you seek it as for silver And search for it as for buried treasures, ⁵ then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

⁵¹ Have you understood all this?" Jesus asked. "Yes," they answered. ⁵² He said to them: Therefore, every scribe that is trained for the kingdom of heaven, is like the master of a house, who brings out of his treasury things new and old.

³⁹ You pore over the Scriptures because you presume that by them you possess eternal life. These are the very words that testify about Me,

⁴ and we will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.

¹¹ Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true.

⁸ if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is giving, let him give generously; if it is leading, let him lead with diligence; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

³ But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their edification and encouragement and comfort.

⁶ Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching?

²⁶ What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a psalm or a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. All of these must be done to build up the church.

¹⁴ Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, ¹⁵ so that, if I am detained, you may know how people ought to conduct themselves in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

⁶ Suggesting these things to the brethren, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith and of the good teaching which you have strictly followed;

¹⁵ Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. ¹⁶ But avoid worldly, empty chatter, for those who practice it will become more and more ungodly, ¹⁷ and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,

¹⁴ "For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. ¹⁵ To one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. ¹⁶ The servant who had received five talents went and put them to work, and gained five more. ¹⁷ So also, he who had the two talents gained two more. ¹⁸ But the servant who had received one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground, and hid his master’s money. ¹⁹ After a long time the master of those servants returned, and settled accounts with them. ²⁰ The servant who had received five talents came and presented five more. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.’ ²¹ His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’ ²² Then the servant who had received two talents also came and said, ‘Master, you entrusted me with two talents. See, I have gained two more.’ ²³ His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’ ²⁴ Then he who had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew that you are a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed: ²⁵ So in my fear, I went and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what belongs to you.’ ²⁶ But his master answered him, 'You wicked and lazy servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed? ²⁷ Then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have received it back with interest. ²⁸ "'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. ²⁹ For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. But the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. ³⁰ And throw that worthless servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

¹² So He said, “A man of noble birth went to a distant country to lay claim to his kingship and then return. ¹³ He called ten of his servants and gave them ten coins. He said to them, 'Invest this money until I come back.' ¹⁴ But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We do not want this man to rule over us.’ ¹⁵ When he returned from procuring his kingship, he summoned the servants to whom he had given the money, to find out what each one had earned. ¹⁶ The first servant came and said, 'Sir, your coin has earned ten more coins.' ¹⁷ "'Well done, good servant,' he replied; 'because you have been faithful in a very small matter, be in authority over ten towns.' ¹⁸ then the second came, and said, Lord, your pound has produc'd five more. ¹⁹ The king said to him, 'You take charge of five cities.' ²⁰ Then another servant came and said, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I have laid away in a piece of cloth. ²¹ for I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take up what you did not lay down, and reap what you did not sow.' ²² He said to him, 'I will judge you out of your own mouth, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a hard man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow? ²³ Why then didn’t you put my money on deposit, and upon coming I would have collected it with interest?’ ²⁴ And he said to those standing by, 'Take the mina away from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.' ²⁵ ‘Master,’ they said, ‘he already has ten!’ ²⁶ 'I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given. But from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.

⁶ They presented these seven to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.

¹⁷ Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

³ So after they had fasted and prayed, they laid their hands on them and sent them off.

⁶ And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

⁶ We have different gifts according to the grace given us. If someone’s gift is prophecy, let him use it in proportion to his faith; ⁷ if it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; ⁸ if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is giving, let him give generously; if it is leading, let him lead with diligence; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

¹⁹ Do not put out the Spirit's fire.

¹⁸ Timothy, my child, I am instructing you in keeping with the prophecies made earlier about you, so that by following them you may continue to fight the good fight

²² Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.

⁹ Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. ¹⁰ As each has received a gift, minister it to one another as good administrators of God’s varied grace. ¹¹ If anyone speaks, he should speak as one conveying the words of God. If anyone serves, he should serve with the strength God supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

² But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

³ My mouth will speak words of wisdom. My heart will utter understanding.

⁶ when I remember you on my bed I meditate on you in the watches:

¹² I will also meditate on all your work and consider your activities.

³⁴ May my meditation be pleasing to him. I will be glad in the LORD.

⁵ Remember His wonders that He has done, His miracles, and the judgments of His mouth,

¹⁵ I will meditate on your precepts, and consider your ways.

²³ Though princes sit and slander me, your servant will meditate on your statutes.

⁴⁸ I will lift up my hands to your commands, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes.

⁹⁷ O How I love your law! It is my meditation all day long.

⁹⁹ I have more insight than all my teachers, for your laws are my meditation.

¹⁴⁸ My eyes stay open through the night watches, that I might meditate on your word.

⁵ I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your doings. I muse on the labor of your hands.

¹⁶ In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

¹⁵ You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints. Now I urge you, brethren,

¹⁴ knowing that the One who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in His presence.

⁵ and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and to us by the will of God;

¹⁵ so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine as lights in the world ¹⁶ as you hold forth the word of life, in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, zealous for good deeds.

¹⁰ Consider now, for the LORD has chosen you to build a house for him as a sanctuary. Be strong, and do it."

⁶ And he said to the judges, Take heed what you do. For you do not judge for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment.

¹¹ so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

²² But if they had stood in my council, then they would have proclaimed my words to my people, and they would have caused them to turn from their evil way, and from the evil of their deeds.

¹⁹ Yet if you warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your soul. ²⁰ And when the righteous turns from his righteousness and does injustice, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die. Since you have not warned him, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered. But I will require his blood at your hand. ²¹ Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man, that the righteous not sin, and he does not sin, he will surely live, because he took warning; and you have delivered your soul.”

⁷ "So you, son of man, I have set you a watchman to the house of Israel; therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. ⁸ When I say to the wicked man, O wicked man, you will surely die and you do not speak to warn the wicked man from his way, that wicked man will die in his iniquity, but I will require his blood at your hand. ⁹ "But if you warn a wicked man to turn from his way and he does not turn from his way, he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your life.

⁹ So be on your guard. You will be handed over to the councils and beaten in the synagogues. On My account, you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them.

³⁴ But watch yourselves, or your hearts will be weighed down by dissipation, drunkenness, and the worries of life—and that day will spring upon you suddenly like a snare.

²⁶ Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. ²⁷ For I did not hesitate to declare to you the whole counsel of God. ²⁸ Keep watch over yourselves and the entire flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood.

²² But I have had God’s help to this day, and I stand here to testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen:

⁷ To those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life.

¹⁰ For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved. ¹¹ For the Scripture says, "No one who believes in him will be put to shame." ¹² For there is no difference between Jew and Greek: The same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on Him, ¹³ for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” ¹⁴ How then can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach?

¹⁴ in the hope that I may provoke my own people to jealousy and save some of them.

¹⁷ Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and obstacles that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Turn away from them.

¹⁰ By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise master builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one must be careful how he builds. ¹¹ For no one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

²² To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men, so that by all possible means I might save some of them.

²⁷ No, I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

¹⁷ Tell Archippus: “See to it that you complete the ministry you have received in the Lord.”

¹⁶ By hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they might be saved, thus always filling up their sins to the limit: but wrath has come upon them at last.

¹⁹ For what is our hope, our joy, our crown of rejoicing in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? Is it not even you? ²⁰ Indeed, you are our glory and our joy.

³ As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines,

¹⁰ Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

¹⁴ But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, knowing from whom you learned it,

⁹ He must be devoted to the trustworthy message that agrees with what we teach, so that he may be able to encourage others with healthy doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

¹⁹ I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand, I will pay it backnot to mention that you owe me even your own self.

¹⁵ See that no one misses the grace of God; that no bitter root spring up to cause trouble and defile many.

²⁰ consider this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

⁸ Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may receive a full reward. ⁹ Anyone who runs ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ does not have God; he who abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
