¹¹ This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.

³⁴ A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. ³⁵ By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”

¹² This is my command, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.

² Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the Law of Christ.

² and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

⁹ Now about brotherly love, you do not need anyone to write to you, because you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another.

⁵ Now the goal of that command is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith;

²² Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth, so that you have a genuine love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from a pure heart.

⁸ Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble in spirit.

⁸ Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

⁵ This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all.

⁷ Dearly beloved, I am not writing you a new command, but an old one that you have had from the beginning. That old command is the message that you have heard. ⁸ Yet I am writing you a new commandment, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.

⁷ Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

²¹ Indeed, we have this Command from God-- 'He who loves God must also love his Brother.'

⁵ And I now request you, lady, not writing as a new commandment, but one which we had from the beginning, that we should love one another.
