¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have touched, concerning the Word of life, ² the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and testify to it, and proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us ³ We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. ⁴ And we write this that our joy may be complete. ⁵ This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. ⁶ If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. ⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. ⁸ If we say we have not sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ¹⁰ If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.

²² "the LORD possessed me, the first of his ways, before his acts of old. ²³ I was set up from eternity, from the beginning, before the earth was. ²⁴ When there were no depths, I was born, when there were no springs abounding with water. ²⁵ Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was born; ²⁶ When he had not made the earth or the fields or the dust of the world. ²⁷ when he crafted the heavens, I was there when he marked out a circle on the face of the deep, ²⁸ when he established the clouds above, when he strengthened the fountains of the deep, ²⁹ when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth, ³⁰ then I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him, ³¹ rejoicing in his inhabitable world and taking delight in mankind."

⁴ "Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the LORD have done this with the first of them and with the last. I am he!"

² But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings out are from of old, from ancient times.

² just as they were handed down to us by the initial eyewitnesses and servants of the word.

³⁹ Look at My hands and My feet. It is I Myself. Touch Me and see—for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”

¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² He was with God in the beginning. ³ Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made. ⁴ In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. ⁵ This light shines in the darkness, but the darkness cannot understand it. ⁶ There came a man who was sent from God. His name was John. ⁷ This man came as a witness, to testify concerning the light, that through him, all might believe. ⁸ He himself was not the light: he was sent to give witness about the light. ⁹ The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. ¹⁰ He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. ¹¹ He came to his own--yet his own did not receive him. ¹² But to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God ¹³ children born not of blood, nor of the desire or will of man, but born of God. ¹⁴ The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. ¹⁵ John testified concerning Him. He cried out, saying, “This is He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me, because He was before me.’” ¹⁶ Out of the fullness of his undeserved kindness he gives us one blessing after another. ¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ No one has seen God at any time. The only Son, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.

²⁶ For as the Father has life in himself; so he has granted to the Son to have life in himself;

⁵⁸ “Truly, truly, I tell you,” Jesus declared, “before Abraham was born, I am!”

³⁵ The one who saw it has testified to this, and his testimony is true. He knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also may believe.

²⁷ Then Jesus said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and look at My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Stop doubting and believe.”

³ After His suffering, He presented Himself to them with many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a span of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.

²⁰ For we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

¹⁶ For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. ¹⁷ For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him by the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." ¹⁸ We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.

² the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and testify to it, and proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us ³ We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.

¹³ I write to you, fathers, because you have known him, who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, children, because you have known the Father. ¹⁴ I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

¹⁴ And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world.

⁷ For there are three that testify:

⁸ "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."

¹¹ saying, “Write in a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”

¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, ¹⁸ the Living One. I was dead, and behold, now I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of Death and of Hades.

⁸ And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These are the words of him who is the first and the last, who was dead, and came to life;

¹³ He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is The Word of God.

¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² He was with God in the beginning.

⁴ In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.

¹⁸ No one has seen God at any time. The only Son, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.

¹³ No one has ascended into heaven except the One who descended from heaven—the Son of Man.

²⁹ but I know him; because I am from him, and he sent me.

³⁸ I am telling you what I have seen in my Father's presence, and you are practicing what you have learned from your father."

²⁵ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies. ²⁶ And whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

⁶ Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

²⁷ And you also must testify, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

²⁸ I did come from the Father and enter the world. Now I am leaving the world again and going back to the Father."

³ Now this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

⁵ And now, Father, glorify Me in Your presence with the glory I had with You before the world existed.

¹⁴ This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.

²² beginning from John’s baptism until the day Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”

³² God has raised this Jesus to life, to which we are all witnesses.

¹⁵ You killed the Author of life, but God raised Him from the dead, and we are witnesses of the fact.

³² We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."

⁴¹ not by all the people, but by the witnesses God had chosen beforehand, by us who ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead.

³ For what the Law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh,

²⁵ Now to Him who is able to strengthen you by my gospel and by the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery concealed for ages past, ²⁶ but now revealed and made known through the writings of the prophets by the command of the eternal God, in order to lead all the nations to the obedience that comes from faith—

⁴ But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,

¹⁶ By common confession, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was proclaimed among the nations, was believed in throughout the world, was taken up in glory.

¹⁰ but has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

² Which rests in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the beginning of time;

¹ The elders among you I exhort, who am a fellowelder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, who am also a sharer in the glory that is to be revealed;

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have touched, concerning the Word of life,

⁵ And you know that He appeared that He might take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.

⁸ He who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

¹¹ And this is that testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

⁷ I will tell of the decree. The LORD said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father.

²² I will declare your name to my brothers. Among the assembly, I will praise you.

¹⁹ "I will set up a sign among them and send some of their survivors to the nations: to Tarshish, Put and Lud, Meshech, Rosh, Tubal, Javan, and to the distant coastlands who have not heard of my fame or seen my glory. They will tell about my glory among the nations.

²⁰ On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. ²¹ He who has my commands and keeps them — he is the one that loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will show myself to him." ²² Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, why Lord, will you show your self to us, and not to the world? ²³ Jesus replied. "If any loves me he will obey my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

¹¹ I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, protect them by Your name, the name You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one.

²¹ that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

²⁵ Righteous Father, though the world did not know you, I knew you, and these men knew that you had sent me.

⁴² They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

³² We are telling you the good news: What God promised our ancestors

⁴¹ ‘Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish; for I am doing a work in your days that you would never believe, even if someone told you.’”

²⁷ For I did not hesitate to declare to you the whole counsel of God.

²⁷ They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual blessings, they are obligated to minister to them with material blessings.

⁹ God, who has called you into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.

³⁰ It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God: our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.

¹ Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, and in which you stand firm.

¹⁴ May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

⁶ This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are fellow heirs, fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus.

⁷ It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart. For in my chains and in my defense and confirmation of the gospel, you are all partners in grace with me.

¹ Therefore if you have any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,

¹⁰ that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming like him in his death;

¹³ He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son,

¹⁰ and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, Jesus, who delivers us from the coming wrath.

² Moreover, those who have believing masters should be respectful to them, because they are fellow believers. In fact, they must serve them even better, because those who benefit from their service are believers and dear to them. These are the things you must teach and exhort.

¹² and say, "I will tell your name to my brothers, In the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise";

¹ Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, set your minds on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.

¹⁴ We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly to the end the assurance we had at first.

⁵ This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all.

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

²³ No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also. ²⁴ As for you, let what you have heard from the beginning remain in you. If it does, you will also remain in the Son and in the Father.

¹⁰ Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within him; whoever does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony God has given about His Son. ¹¹ And this is that testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

¹⁰ I will rejoice greatly in the LORD. I will exult in my God for he has clothed me with garments of salvation. He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

¹⁷ Though the fig tree shall not blossom, and fruit is not on the vines; the work of the olive fails, and the fields make no food; the flock is cut off from the fold, and no herd is in the stalls, ¹⁸ yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in God my Savior.

²⁹ The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom stands and listens for him, and is overjoyed to hear the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.

¹¹ I have told you this so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.

²⁴ Until now you have not asked for anything in My name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.

²⁴ Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy: for in your faith you stand firm.

¹⁹ and to know Christ's love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

²⁵ Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, ²⁶ so that through my coming to you again, your exultation in Christ Jesus will resound on account of me.

¹ My little children, I write this to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

¹² Though I have much to write to you, I do not want to use paper and ink, but I hope to come to see you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.

¹ The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?

⁹ For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

¹⁹ The sun will be no more your light by day; nor will the brightness of the moon give light to you, but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.

⁹ The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.

¹² Once again, Jesus spoke to the people and said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

⁵ While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

³⁵ Then Jesus said to them, "A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest the darkness overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. ³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light." When Jesus had said this, he departed and hid himself from them.

²³ For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: that the Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread,

¹⁶ who alone has immortality, residing in unapproachable light; whom no man has seen or can see; to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen.

¹⁷ Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow.

¹¹ This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.

²³ The city does not need the sun nor the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God lighted it, and the Lamb is its lamp.

⁵ And there will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light; and they will reign for ever and ever.

⁴ For you are not a God who takes pleasure in wrongdoing; there is no evil with you. ⁵ The arrogant shall not stand in your sight. You hate all evildoers. ⁶ You destroy speakers of lies. A man of bloodshed and deceit the LORD abhors.

⁵ They know not, nor do they understand. They walk to and fro in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken.

²⁰ Can wicked rulers be allied with you? They frame mischief by decree (the law).

¹³ Who leave the right way, and walk by dark ways:

¹⁸ The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn that grows brighter until the full light of day. ¹⁹ The way of the wicked is like darkness. They do not know what makes them stumble.

²² Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’

¹⁹ And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. ²¹ But whoever practices the truth comes into the Light, so that it may be seen clearly that what he has done has been accomplished in God.”

⁴⁴ You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out his desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, refusing to uphold the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, because he is a liar and the father of lies. ⁴⁵ But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me.

¹⁰ But if anyone walks at night, he will stumble, because he has no light.”

³⁵ Then Jesus said to them, "A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest the darkness overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.

⁴⁶ I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in Me should remain in darkness.

¹⁴ Do not enter a mismatch with unbelievers; for what do righteousness and lawlessness have in common? And what fellowship does light have with darkness? ¹⁵ What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? ¹⁶ What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.”

² through the pretensions of liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron,

¹⁴ What good is it, my brothers, if someone claims to have faith, but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?

¹⁶ If one of you tells him, “Go in peace; stay warm and well fed,” but does not provide for his physical needs, what good is that?

¹⁸ But someone will say, “You have faith and I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.

³ We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.

⁸ If we say we have not sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

¹⁰ If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.

⁴ He who says, 'I know him,' but does not obey his commands, is a liar and the truth is not in him;

⁹ If anyone claims to be in the light but hates his brother, he is still in the darkness. ¹⁰ He who loves his Brother is always in the Light, and there is nothing within him to cause him to stumble; ¹¹ But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness. He does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

²⁰ If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

¹⁷ You say, ‘I am rich; I have grown wealthy and need nothing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked. ¹⁸ I advise you to buy of me gold that has been refined in the fire, so that you may become rich, and white clothes to put on, to hide your shameful nakedness, and salve to put on your eyes, to make you see.

¹³ For you have delivered me from death, and my feet from stumbling, So that I may walk before God in the light of the living.

¹⁵ Blessed are the people who learn to acclaim you. They walk in the light of your presence, the LORD.

¹¹ Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.

² He covers himself with light as with a garment. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain.

⁵ O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord!

³ Do two walk together, unless they have agreed?

¹ " 'On that day a well will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and from impurity.

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

¹² The night is nearly over; the day is at hand. So let us throw aside the deeds of darkness, and put on the armor of light.

¹¹ And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

⁷ In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

⁸ For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,

¹⁴ how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, purify our consciences from works of death, so that we may serve the living God!

¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or spot.

¹ My little children, I write this to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. ² And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

⁹ If anyone claims to be in the light but hates his brother, he is still in the darkness. ¹⁰ He who loves his Brother is always in the Light, and there is nothing within him to cause him to stumble;

⁶ This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ—not by water alone, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies to this, because the Spirit is the truth.

⁸ the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and these three are in agreement.

⁴ I was overjoyed to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father has commanded us.

⁴ I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. ⁵ and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,

¹⁴ I said to him, "Sir, you know." And he said to me, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹¹ They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives even to the death.

⁴⁶ "If they sin against you (for there is not a person who does not sin) and you are angry with them and you give them to an enemy and they take them captive to the land of the enemy far or near,

³⁶ When they sin against you—for there is no person who does not sin—and you become angry with them and place them before their enemy that they carry them away as captives to a land far or near,

² Truly I know that this is so, Yet how can a mortal be righteous before El?

⁴ "Who can bring what is pure from the impure? No one!

¹⁴ "What is man, that he could be pure? Or he who is born of woman, that he could be righteous?

⁴ "How then can a man be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure?

² And do not enter into judgment with your servant, because no one alive is righteous before you.

⁹ Who can say, "I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin?"

²⁰ Surely there is not a righteous man on earth, who does good and doesn't sin.

⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; each one has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

⁶ For we have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteousness is like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

²² Though you wash yourself with lye and use much soap, the stain of your guilt is still before me," declares the Lord GOD. ²³ How can you say, I am not defiled; I have not gone after the Baals? See your way in the valley, know what you have done! You are a swift camel crossing its ways;

²³ for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

¹⁸ Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this age, he should become a fool, so that he may become wise.

³ If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

⁵ and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who imagine that godliness is a means of gain.

¹³ while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

²² Obey the message; do not merely listen to it, and deceive yourselves.

²⁶ If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not bridle his tongue, he deceives his heart and his religion is worthless.

² We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to control his whole body.

¹³ The harm they will suffer is the wages of their wickedness. They consider it a pleasure to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their deception as they feast with you.

⁶ If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

⁵ And you know that He appeared that He might take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. ⁶ No one who remains in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has seen Him or known Him.

² because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever: ³ Because it gave me great joy when some brothers came and testified to the truth about you, how you are walking in Truth.

⁴⁰ "'However if they confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors and the treacherous things they did to oppose me, ⁴¹ I also will walk contrary to them and will bring them into the land of their enemies. ⁴⁷ yet if they shall think within themselves in the land where they are carried captives, and repent, and pray to You in the land of their captors saying, We have sinned and have done perversely, we have done wickedly,

³⁷ Yet if they come to themselves in the land where they are carried captive, and turn and pray unto you in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done wrong, and have dealt wickedly; ³⁸ if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity where they captured them; and pray in the way of the land you gave their fathers and the city you chose and the house I built for your name:

⁶ Please, let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer of your servant that I am praying before you by day and by night for your servants, the Israelites, and confessing the sins of the Israelites that we have sinned against you. I and my father's house have sinned.

But when they were oppressed, they cried out to you, and you heard from heaven. In your great compassion you gave them deliverers who rescued them from the control of their enemies. ²⁸ But after they had rest, they again did evil before you. Therefore you left them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them. Yet when they returned and cried to you, you heard from heaven and many times you delivered them according to your mercies, ²⁹ You admonished them to return to your law, but they acted arrogantly, and would not listen to your commands. They sinned against your regulations, which if anyone obeys, he will live by them. They turned away, being stubborn and stiff-necked, and they did not listen. ³⁰ You were patient with them for many years, warning them by your Spirit through your prophets. But they would not listen, so you turned them over to the control of people in other lands. ³¹ But for Your great mercies, You did not consume nor forsake them; for You are a gracious and merciful God. ³² "Now therefore, our God, the great, mighty, and awesome God, who keeps the covenant and gracious love, don't let all of the difficulties seem trifling to you, all of hardships that have come upon us, upon our kings, upon our leaders, upon our priests, upon our prophets, upon our ancestors, and upon all of your people from the time of the kings of Assyria until this day. ³³ You are righteous in all that is happening to us, because you have acted faithfully while we have practiced evil. ³⁴ Our kings, our officials, our priests, and our ancestors did not keep your law and did not listen to your commandments and statutes that you declared to them. ³⁵ And in their kingdom and in the greatness you gave to them, and in the wide and fertile land that you gave before them, they did not serve you and did not turn from their evil deeds. ³⁶ Behold, we are slaves today, even the land that You gave to our fathers to eat its fruit and its good, behold, we are slaves in it. ³⁷ But now its abundant produce belongs to the kings whom you placed over us because of our sin. They also have power over our bodies and our herds at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.

¹² Who can discern his errors? Forgive me from hidden errors.

Because of our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors, Jerusalem and your people have become an embarrassment to all of those around us. ¹⁷ So now, O God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his requests, and look with favor on your desolate sanctuary, for the sake of the Lord. ¹⁸ My God, turn your ear, and hear; open your eyes, and see our desolation, and the city which is called by your name. For we do not present our petitions before you for our righteousness, but for your great mercy. ¹⁹ O Lord, hear. O Lord, forgive. O Lord, listen and do. Defer not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name. ²⁰ And while I was speaking and praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and making my cry fall before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion. Shout, daughter of Jerusalem. Look, your king comes to you. He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

²⁵ "And if it is not so, then who can prove me a liar and reduce my word to nothing?"

³ If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

¹⁴ I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

⁴ You, children, are of God, and have overcome them, because he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

¹⁰ Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within him; whoever does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony God has given about His Son.
