¹³ For if all of you live after the flesh, all of you shall die: but if all of you through the Spirit (o. pneuma) do mortify the deeds of the body, all of you shall live.

²¹ What fruit had all of you then in those things whereof all of you are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

²³ For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁵ For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

¹ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (o. pneuma) ² For the law of the Spirit (o. pneuma) of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

⁴ That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (o. pneuma) ⁵ For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit (o. pneuma) the things of the Spirit. (o. pneuma) ⁶ In order to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually (o. pneuma) minded is life and peace.

²⁷ But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰ Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, worldy jealousies, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, ²¹ Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁴ And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

⁸ For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit (o. pneuma) shall of the Spirit (o. pneuma) reap life everlasting.

²² That all of you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

³⁰ And grieve not the holy Spirit (o. pneuma) of God, whereby all of you are sealed unto the day of redemption.

³ But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becomes saints; ⁴ Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. ⁵ For this all of you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; (o. pneuma)

⁵ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: ⁶ For which things' sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience: ⁷ In the which all of you also walked some time, when all of you lived in them. ⁸ But now all of you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

¹² Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

¹⁴ But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. ¹⁵ Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.

²² Seeing all of you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit (o. pneuma) unto sincere love of the brethren, see that all of you love one another with a pure heart fervently:

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I plead to you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
