²⁰ Thus says the LORD; If all of you can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;

²² While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

³⁷ It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.

¹⁹ He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knows his going down. ²⁰ You make darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. ²¹ The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God. ²² The sun arises, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens. ²³ Man goes forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.

⁹ For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. ¹⁰ For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from you, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, says the LORD that has mercy on you.

³⁵ Thus says the LORD, which gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divides the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: ³⁶ If those ordinances depart from before me, says the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. ³⁷ Thus says the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, says the LORD.

²⁵ Thus says the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth; ²⁶ Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.
