⁸ And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray you, between me and you, and between my herdmen and your herdmen; for we be brethren.

²⁷ Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah brings forth Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran brings forth Lot. ²⁸ And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees. ²⁹ And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah. ³⁰ But Sarai was barren; she had no child. ³¹ And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

²⁴ So he sent his brethren away, and they departed: and he said unto them, See that all of you fall not out by the way.

¹³ And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smite you your fellow?

¹ Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

¹ A soft answer turns away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

¹⁸ A wrathful man stirs up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeases strife.

³ It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

²⁶ And the next day he showed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them to reconcile again, saying, Sirs, all of you are brethren; why do all of you wrong one to another?

¹⁰ Be kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

⁶ But brother goes to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. ⁷ Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because all of you go to law one with another. Why do all of you not rather endure wrong? why do all of you not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

² With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; (o. agape) ³ Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit (o. pneuma) in the bond of peace.

¹⁴ Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

⁹ But as concerning brotherly love all of you need not that I write unto you: for all of you yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

¹⁴ Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

¹ Let brotherly love continue.

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be implored, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. ¹⁸ And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

²² Seeing all of you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit (o. pneuma) unto sincere love of the brethren, see that all of you love one another with a pure heart fervently:

¹⁷ Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

⁸ Finally, be all of you all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

⁸ And above all things have fervent love (o. agape) among yourselves: for love (o. agape) shall cover the multitude of sins.

⁷ And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love. (o. agape)

⁹ He that says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness even until now. ¹⁰ He that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. ¹¹ But he that hates his brother is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and knows not where he goes, because that darkness has blinded his eyes.

¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loves not his brother abides in death. ¹⁵ Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer: and all of you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. ¹⁶ Hereby perceive we the love (o. agape) of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. ¹⁷ But whoso has this world's good, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwells the love (o. agape) of God in him? ¹⁸ My little children, let us not love in word, (o. logos) neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. ¹⁹ And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

⁷ Beloved, let us love one another: for love (o. agape) is of God; and every one that loves is born of God, and knows God.

²⁰ If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? ²¹ And this commandment have we from him, That he who loves God love his brother also.
