¹² Honour your father and your mother: that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you.

⁶ A son honors his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? says the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And all of you say, Wherein have we despised your name?

⁴ For God commanded, saying, Honour your father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death. ⁵ But all of you say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever you might be profited by me; ⁶ And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have all of you made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.
