²⁰ Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.

¹⁰ Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falls out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

¹² The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes upon him with his teeth. ¹³ The LORD shall laugh at him: for he sees that his day is coming.

³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

¹⁰ Take counsel together, and it shall come to nothing; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

¹⁵ Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who sees us? and who knows us?

¹ When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

²³ And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. ²⁴ And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, you are God, which have made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: ²⁵ Who by the mouth of your servant David have said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. ²⁷ For truthfully against your holy child Jesus, whom you have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, ²⁸ In order to do whatsoever your hand and your counsel determined before to be done.
