¹⁶ And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure you that you tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?

²⁶ And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that rises up and builds this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

²⁴ And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eats any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.

¹⁶ And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that you are true, and teach the way of God in truth, neither care you for any man: for you regard not the person of men. ¹⁷ Tell us therefore, What think you? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?

⁶³ But Jesus held his peace, And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you be the Christ, the Son of God.

⁷ And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the most high God? I adjure you by God, that you torment me not.

¹³ Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits (o. pneuma) the name of the LORD Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.
