But Ionas gatt him vnder the hatches and layed him downe and slombrede. ⁶ And ye master of the sheppe came to him and sayd vn to hi why slomberest thou? vpp and call vn to thy god that God maye thinke on vs that we perish not. ⁷ And they sayde one to a nother come and lett vs cast lottes to know for whose cause we are thus troublede. And they cast lottes. And ye lott fell vppon Ionas. ⁸ The they said vnto hi tel vs for whose cause we are thus trowbled: what is thine occupacio whence comest thou how is thy cotre called and of what nacion art thou? ⁹ And he answered the I am an Ebrue: and the lord God of heuen which made both se and drie land I feare. ¹⁰ Then were the men exceadingly afrayd and sayd vn to him why diddest thou so? For they knew that he was fled from the presens of the lorde because he had told them. ¹¹ Then they sayd vn to hym what shall we doo vnto the that the se maye cease fro trowblinge vs? ³⁹ He answered and sayde to the: The evyll and advoutrous generacio seketh a signe but ther shall no signe be geve to the saue the signe of the Prophete Ionas. ⁴⁰ For as Ionas was thre dayes and thre nyghtes in the whales belly: soo shall ye sonne of man be thre dayes and thre nyghtes in ye hert of ye erth. ⁴¹ The men of Ninivie shall rise at the daye of iugdement with this nacion and condemne them: for they amended at ye preachinge of Ionas. And beholde a greater then Ionas is here.

⁴ The frowarde nacion and advoutrous seketh a signe and there shall non other signe be geven vnto them but the signe of the prophet Ionas. So lefte he them and departed.

²⁹ When the people were gadered thicke to geder: he began to saye. This is an evyll nacion: they seke a signe and ther shall no signe be geven them but the signe of Ionas the Prophet. ³⁰ For as Ionas was a signe to the Ninivites so shall ye sonne of ma be to this nacio.

³² The men of Ninive shall ryse at the iudgement wt this generacio and shall condepne the: for they repented at the preachinge of Ionas. And beholde a greater then Ionas is here.

⁶ And ye master of the sheppe came to him and sayd vn to hi why slomberest thou? vpp and call vn to thy god that God maye thinke on vs that we perish not.

⁷ But the thynges that were vauntage vnto me I counted losse for Christes sake. ⁸ Ye I thinke all thynges but losse for that excellet knowledges sake of Christ Iesu my lorde. For whom I have counted all thynge losse and do iudge them but donge that I myght wynne Christ ⁹ who can tell whether god will turne and repent and cease from his fearce wrathe that we perish not?

³⁷ And ther arose a great storme of wynde and dasshed ye waves into the ship so that it was full. ³⁸ And he was in the sterne a slepe on a pelowe. And they awoke him and sayde to him: Master carest thou not yt we perisshe? ³⁹ And he rose vp and rebuked the wynde and sayde vnto the see: peace and be still. And the winde alayed and ther folowed a greate calme. ⁴⁰ And he sayde vnto them: why are ye so fearfull? How is it that ye have no fayth?

¹³ Then Paul answered and sayde: what do ye wepynge and breakinge myne hert? I am redy not to be bound only but also to dye at Ierusalem for ye name of ye Lorde Iesu.

¹¹ This also we knowe I mean the season howe that it is tyme that we shuld now awake oute of slepe. For now is oure salvacion nearer then when we beleved.

¹⁴ Wherfore he sayth: awake thou that slepest and stond vp from deeth and Christ shall geve the light.

²³ But and yf ye will not do so beholde ye synne agenst the Lorde: ad be sure youre synne will fynde you out.

³⁵ When they had crucified him they parted his garmentes and did cast lottes: to fulfyll that was spoken by the prophet. They deuyded my garmetes amonge them: and apon my vesture did cast loottes.
