⁸ Nor did we eat any one's bread without paying for it. Night and day, laboring and toiling, we used to work at our trades, so as not to be a burden upon any of you.

¹¹ Give us to-day the bread that we shall need;

³ And, since their trade was the same as his, he stayed and worked with them--their trade was tent-making.

³⁴ You, yourselves, know that these hands of mine provided not only for my own wants, but for my companions also.

¹² We work hard, toiling with our own hands. We meet abuse with blessings, we meet persecution with endurance,

⁹ And, when I was with you in need, I did not become a burden to any of you; for our Brothers, on coming from Macedonia, supplied my needs. I kept myself, and will keep myself from being an expense to you in any way.

²⁸ Let the man who steals steal no longer, but rather let him toil with his hands at honest work, so that he may have something to share with any one in want.

⁹ You will not have forgotten, Brothers, our labor and toil. Night and day we used to work at our trades, so as not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you God's Good News.

¹¹ Make it your ambition to live quietly, and to attend to your own business, and to work with your hands, as we directed you;

¹² All such people we urge, and entreat, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, to attend quietly to their business, and earn their own living.
