²⁵ Once you were straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.

³⁶ But, when he saw the crowds, his heart was moved with compassion for them, because they were distressed and harassed, 'like sheep without a shepherd';

¹² What think you? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them strays, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills, and go and search for the one that is straying?

⁴ "What man among you who has a hundred sheep, and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine out in the open country, and go after the lost sheep till he finds it? ⁵ And, when he has found it, he puts in on his shoulders rejoicing; ⁶ And, on reaching home, he calls his friends and his neighbors together, and says 'Come and rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.'

¹¹ I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down his life for his sheep. ¹² The hired man who is not a shepherd, and who does not own the sheep, when he sees a wolf coming, leaves them and runs away; then the wolf seizes them, and scatters the flock. ¹³ He does this because he is only a hired man and does not care about the sheep. ¹⁴ I am the Good Shepherd; and I know my sheep, and my sheep know me-- ¹⁵ Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father--and I lay down my life for the sheep. ¹⁶ I have other sheep besides, which do not belong to this fold; I must lead them also, and they will listen to my voice; and they shall become one flock under 'one Shepherd.'

²⁸ Be watchful over yourselves, and over the whole flock, of which the Holy Spirit has placed you in charge, to shepherd the Church of God, which he won for himself at the cost of his life.

¹ Therefore, Christian Brothers, you who, all alike, have received the Call from Heaven, fix your attention on Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our Religion.

²⁰ May God, the source of all peace, who brought back from the dead him who, 'by virtue of the blood that rendered valid the unchangeable Covenant, is the Great Shepherd of God's Sheep,' Jesus, our Lord--

⁴ Then, when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will win the crown of glory that never fades.
