Perhaps he will practise wiles. ²³ Take a view therefore, and know, and I will go down with you, and if he be in that country I will search him out among all the thousands of Juda.

⁸ Under his tongue there is mischief and sorrow. He sat in secret places with the rich to slay the innocent; His eyes are on the watch for the distressed. ⁹ He lurketh in secret like a lion in his den; He lurketh to make a prey of the poor. To make a prey of the poor when he hath drawn him in; in his net he will humble him. ¹⁰ He will stoop and crouch at his tyrannising over the poor;

³² The sinner watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to kill him;

⁶ Some are to dwell near and hide themselves: some are to watch my footsteps.

³ For behold they have hunted my life: the mighty are set against me: though there is no transgression; no sin, Lord, in me.

⁵ The haughty hid a snare for me; they spread out nets for my feet; close by the way they laid for me a stumbling block.

¹¹ saying, Come with us; partake of blood; and let us hide in the earth an innocent man without cause,

²⁸ Remove not ancient boundaries which thy fathers have set.

¹⁸ his people shall then inhabit a city of peace and dwell secure, and they shall enjoy rest with riches.

¹⁹ As for me I like a lamb led to slaughter did not know. Against me they had formed a wicked design, saying, "Come, let us put poison in his bread, and cut him off from the land of the living; and let his name be mentioned no more."

⁴ and were consulting how they might take Jesus by surprise and kill him.

²⁴ and Saul was apprized of their plot. As they were watching the gates day and night to murder him,

¹⁶ But Paul's sister's son hearing of the plot, went to the castle and being admitted told Paul.

³ and earnestly intreated him to favour them so far as to send for him to Jerusalem; [they having laid an ambush to kill him on the road.]
