⁴ Again the mixed multitude which was among them had a longing desire, and even the children of Israel sat down and wept, saying, Who will give us flesh to eat.

³⁸ And there went up with them a mixed multitude with flocks and herds and cattle in great abundance.

¹⁰ Now there had come out among the Israelites a son of an Israelitish woman, but his father was an Egyptian. And this son of the Israelitish woman, and a man who was an Israelite, quarrelled in the camp. ¹¹ And the son of the Israelitish woman having named the name, cursed it. Upon which they brought him before Moses. Now his mother's name was Salomith, she was a daughter of Dabri, of the tribe of Dan.

³ And when they heard the law, they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.

¹⁸ Still they made trial of God in their hearts, by asking for meats to their appetites. ¹⁹ Nay, they spoke against God and said, "Can God provide a table in a desert? ²⁰ When he smote a rock, waters gushed out, and streams swelled to an overflowing flood. But can He also give bread, or provide a table for his people?"

¹⁴ They indulged a longing desire in the desert, and tried God in a place without water.

¹⁴ but put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh to fulfil its desires.

⁶ Now these things were examples for us, that we may not lust after evil things as they did.

³³ Be not led astray; "good morals are debauched by talk profane."
