⁴ Now John had his raiment made of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his waist: and his food was locusts and wild honey:

²² These of them in particular you may eat, the brouchus-locust and its species, and the altake-locust and all its species, and the serpent-fighter and all its species, and the grasshopper and all its species.

¹³ He brought them up to the strength of this land, He fed them with the products of the fields; They sucked honey out of a rock, And oil out of a flinty rock;

²⁵ Nay, though the forest Jaal abounded with honey, on the face of the ground, ²⁶ and the people entered that apiary; yet behold they went on talking, and behold there was not one who put his hand to his mouth; for the people feared the oath of the Lord. ²⁷ But Jonathan did not hear when his father adjured the people, therefore he stretched forth the end of the sceptre in his hand, and stuck it into a honey-comb, and when he put his hand to his mouth, his eyes brightened up.

⁸ And they said to him, He was a hairy man, girt about the loins with a leathern girdle. Upon which he said, This is Elias the Thesbite.

⁴ And in that day the prophets shall be exposed to shame; every one for his vision, when he prophesieth: and they shall be clothed with a hairy skin because they lied.

⁵ Now behold I will send you Elias the Thesbite before that great and awful day of the Lord cometh;

⁸ But what went ye out to see? A man clothed with soft raiment? Behold they, who wear delicate apparel, frequent the palaces of kings.

¹⁸ For John came, abstaining from meat and drink, and they say he hath a demon.

¹⁷ He will go before in his presence, with the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and prepare disobedient persons, by a deep sense of righteous things, to be for the Lord a well disposed people.

³ And I will give to my two witnesses and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and sixty days clothed in sackcloth.
