¹⁷ So when they were assembled, Pilate said to them, Whom do you desire me to release to you? Barabbas; or Jesus who is called Christ?

¹⁵ But if it seemeth not good to you to serve the Lord, chuse for yourselves this day whom you will serve, either the gods of your fathers which were in beyond the river, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord; for he is holy.

²¹ to them, How long will you halt between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him: but if Baal; follow him. But the people made no reply.

¹⁶ and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called the Christ:

²¹ So when the governor, addressing them, said, Which of the two do you desire me to release to you? They said, Barabbas. ²² Pilate saith to them, What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ? They all say to him, Let him be crucified.

⁹ Pilate addressing them, said, Is it your pleasure that I release to you the king of the Jews? ¹⁰ For he knew that out of envy the chief priests had delivered him up. ¹¹ But the chief priests instigated the populace to desire that he would rather release to them Barabbas. ¹² And when Pilate addressing them again, said, What then do you wish me to do with him whom you call king of the Jews?

¹⁵ Whereupon they cried out, Away, away with him; crucify him. Pilate saith to them, Shall I crucify your king? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
