⁵⁰ the lord of that servant will come on a day he least expecteth, and at an hour of which he is not aware

¹ Better is a man of experience, than a man who is stiff-necked: for when the latter is suddenly burned, there is no healing him.

⁴² Watch therefore, because you know not at what season your lord cometh. ⁴³ But this you know, that if the master of a family knew at what watch the thief would come, he would be upon guard and not suffer him to break into his house. ⁴⁴ Be ye therefore ready prepared, because the son of man cometh at an hour you least expect.

² for you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord cometh as a thief at night. ³ For whilst they are saying, there is peace and safety, sudden destruction is then upon them, like the pangs of a woman in travail, and they cannot escape.

³ Remember therefore how thou hast received, and heard, and keep fast hold, and reform. For if thou wilt not watch, I will come against thee, as a thief, so that thou shall not know at what hour I shall come against thee.
