¹⁷ Now the wisdom which cometh from above, is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easily to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

³⁸ And Pharao said to all his servants, Can we find such a man as this who hath in him the spirit of God? ³⁹ Then Pharao said to Joseph, Seeing God hath shewn thee all these things, there is none more prudent and wise than thou thyself.

² When Moses called Beseleel and Eliab and all who had skill: every one in whose heart God had put knowledge and all who were freely willing to come to the work so as to finish it compleatly,

⁹ give therefore to thy servant a heart to hear and to judge thy people righteously, and to discern between good and evil; for who can judge this thy people,

¹² behold I have granted thy request; behold I have given thee a wise and understanding heart, so that before thee there hath not been one like thee, nor after thee shall there arise one like thee.

²⁸ And when all Israel heard the judgment which the king had given, they feared the king, for they saw that there was in him the wisdom of God to execute judgment.

⁹ Behold a son shall be born to thee. He shall be a man of rest. I will give him rest from all his enemies round about. For his name shall be Solomon; and I will give Israel peace and rest in his days.

¹² Let but the Lord grant thee wisdom and understanding, and strengthen thee over Israel, that thou mayst keep and perform the law of the Lord thy God;

¹² But where is wisdom to be found? And where is the place of understanding?

²³ God is perfectly acquainted with its way and knoweth its place.

²⁸ he said to man, "Behold the worshipping of God is wisdom: and to abstain from evil is understanding."

⁶ For the Lord giveth wisdom; and from his presence is knowledge and understanding:

⁴ And he will judge among the nations; and work conviction in many a people: and they shall beat their swords into plough shares; and their spears into pruning hooks: and nation shall not lift up a sword against nation; nor shall they learn war any more.

⁶ because for us a child is born, and to us a son is given, whose government is on his own shoulder; and his name is called, "The Messenger of Great Counsel." For I will bring peace on the rulers and health for him. ⁷ His government shall be great and to his peace there is no boundary, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to reestablish it, and support it with judgment and justice, henceforth and forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

² and the spirit of God will rest upon him; a spirit of wisdom and understanding; a spirit of counsel and majesty; a spirit of knowledge and piety: ³ by this spirit he will be filled with the fear of God. He will not judge according to opinion, nor will he reprove according to report; ⁴ but he will administer justice to the lowly, and work conviction in the meek of the earth. And he will smite the earth with the word of his mouth, and with a breath from his lips destroy the wicked. ⁵ His loins will be girded with saving goodness, and his reins clothed with truth. ⁶ And a wolf shall pasture with a lamb; and a leopard shall lie down with a kid; and the calf, and bull and lion shall pasture together, and a little child shall tend them. ⁷ The cow and bear shall feed together; and together their young shall herd; and the lion shall eat chaff like an ox. ⁸ And the sucking child shall lay its hand on the holes of asps and on the bed of young asps. ⁹ And they shall not hurt nor have power to destroy any one on the mountain which is my sanctuary. Because the whole earth is filled with the knowledge of the Lord as abundant water covereth depths of seas;

⁶ For the fool will speak foolishly, and his heart will devise vain things; that he may commit iniquity, and utter error before the Lord in order to scatter hungry souls: and the thirsty souls he will send away empty.

¹⁵ till a spirit come on you from on high. Then will a desert become a Channel and Channel will be accounted a forest; ¹⁶ and judgment will make a lasting abode in the desert, and righteousness will dwell in Channel. ¹⁷ And the works of righteousness shall be peace; and righteousness shall enjoy rest. As for them who have kept up their confidence till that age;

¹¹ Like a shepherd he will tend his flock; and with his arm he will gather the lambs, and comfort the ewes that are with young.

¹⁷ And as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and understanding in all literature and science; and Daniel was skilled in all visions and dreams.

⁹ therefore I have made you contemptible and outcasts among all the nations, because you did not keep my ways, but in law have had respect to persons.

³ He will sit refining and purifying and will purify the sons of Levi like the silver and gold, and melt them like the gold and silver. Then shall they offer to the Lord a sacrifice in righteousness

⁸ Happy the pure in heart; for they shall see God.

²⁸ In like manner you also appear outwardly to men to be righteous; but you are inwardly full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

³⁶ be ye therefore merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

¹ by which myriads of the people being drawn together, so as to trample upon one another, he took occasion to say to his disciples, Above all, things beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy; ² for there is nothing concealed which shall not be disclosed; nor any thing hid, which shall not be known.

¹⁵ For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to contradict or withstand.

¹⁴ Now the Word became incarnate, and dwelt as in a tent among us, and we beheld his glory; a glory as of an only begotten from the father. He was full of grace and truth.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathaniel coming to him and saith respecting him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no guile!

³⁶ Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha [the signification of which in Greek, is Dorcas [a Roe.]] This woman abounded in good works and in acts of charity.

²⁴ Because he was a good man and full of a holy spirit and faith, therefore a considerable multitude was added to the Lord.

⁹ Let love be unfeigned: abhor what is evil; adhere closely to what is good;

¹⁸ If possible, that is, as far as in your power, be at peace with all men.

¹⁴ Now as for me, I am persuaded, my brethren, with respect to you, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able to instruct one another;

⁶ We, however, speak wisdom among them who are perfect, but a wisdom not of this age, nor of the chiefs of this age to whose operations a stop is put; ⁷ but we speak a mysterious wisdom of God that hidden [wisdom] which God determinately marked out for the benefit of the ages, to our glory

⁸ For to one is given, by the spirit, a word of wisdom; and to another, a word of knowledge according to the same spirit;

⁴ Love is long suffering; it aboundeth in kindness. Love is not envious. Love is not insolent: it is not puffed up. ⁵ It doth not behave itself unbecomingly. It is not self interested. It is not easily provoked. It placeth not the evil to account. ⁶ It rejoiceth not in iniquity, but shareth in the joys of truth. ⁷ It beareth all things. It believeth all things. It hopeth all things. It endureth all things patiently.

¹⁰ and may He who furnisheth abundantly seed for the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed, and increase the products of your righteousness!]

¹ Now I Paul myself exhort you by the meekness and gentleness of the Christ, [I who when present am indeed lowly among you, but being absent am bold towards you]

²² But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ meekness, temperance; against such things there is no law.

⁹ [for the fruit of this light consists of goodness and righteousness and truth of every sort]

¹¹ filled with fruits of righteousness, which are by means of Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God.

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are venerable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are friendly, whatsoever things are reputable, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think of these things,

¹⁰ with all wisdom and spiritual understanding, that you may walk worthy of the Lord, to all well pleasing. By every good work we bear fruit, and grow up for the acknowledgment of God;

⁷ but we were gentle among you. Our affectionate regard for you being such, as that with which a nursing mother would cherish her own children,

²¹ I charge thee before the God and Lord Jesus Christ, and the chosen angels, to observe these things without prejudging, and to do nothing by partiality.

²⁴ Now, the servant of the Lord ought not to be at strife; but ought to be gentle towards all, ready to teach, patient of ills,

¹⁵ To the pure, all things are indeed pure but to the polluted and unbelieving, nothing is pure. Their mind and conscience are polluted:

² to revile no one; not to be quarrelsome; to be gentle, shewing all meekness to all men.

¹¹ Now all correction seemeth, for the present, not to be matter of joy, but of grief; yet afterwards it produceth the peaceful fruit of righteousness to them who are exercised therewith.

¹⁴ Follow peace with all men, and that holiness without which none shall see the Lord,

⁵ And if any of you wanteth wisdom, let him ask it of God, who giveth to all liberally and upbraideth not; and it will be given him.

¹⁷ Every good donation, and every perfect gift, is from above, and cometh down from the father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor shadow of turning. 18 Of his own will he hath impregnated us with a word of truth, that we may be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

⁴ have you not actually made distinctions among yourselves, and become ill principled judges?

¹⁵ This is not the wisdom which cometh down from above; but that which is of an earthly, sensual, and devilish nature.

⁸ Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

²² Having, in obedience to the truth, purified your souls by the spirit for an unfeigned brotherly affection, love one another fervently with a pure heart,

¹ Therefore laying aside all malice, and all deceit, and every kind of hypocrisy, envy and slander,

³ Now, everyone who hath this hope in him purifieth himself as he is pure.

¹⁸ My children, let us not love in word, and with the tongue, but in deed, and in truth.
