²² and be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

²⁰ Know thou that their heart is ashes, and they are led astray and none can deliver his soul. Take a view of it, will you not say, "There is indeed a lie in my right hand?"

³ Behold I have made thee very small among the nations: thou art dishonoured in a high degree. The pride of thy heart puffed thee up, dwelling in the clefts of rocks. [Having made his habitation high he said in his heart, Who can bring me down to the ground?]

²¹ Not every one who saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he who doeth the will of my father who is in heaven. ²² Many will say to me on that day Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name cast out demons, and in thy name done many miracles, ²³ to whom I will then declare, I never acknowledged you; Depart from me ye who work iniquity. ²⁴ Therefore whoever heareth these words of mine and putteth them in practice, him I will compare to a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock. ²⁵ When the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, it did not fall, because it was founded on the rock. ²⁶ But whoever heareth these words of mine, and doth not put them in practice, may be compared to a foolish man, who built his house on the sand. ²⁷ When the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; it fell, and great was the ruin thereof.

⁵⁰ for whoever will do the will of my father who is in heaven, the same is my brother and sister and mother.

²⁰ teaching them to observe all that I commanded you. And lo! I am with you all the days to the conclusion of this age. Amen.

⁴⁶ Now why do you call me, master, master, when ye do not what I command? ⁴⁷ With regard to every one who cometh to me, and hearkeneth to my words, and doth them, I will tell you to whom he is like. ⁴⁸ He is like a man building a house, who digged deep and laid a foundation on the rock. And when a flood came, the current beat against that house, but could not shake it, because it was founded on the rock.

²⁸ Whereupon he said, Nay, rather happy they who hear the word of God and keep it.

⁴⁷ Now that servant who knew his master's will, and did not keep himself ready, nor act agreeably to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes; ⁴⁸ but he who did not know it, and did things deserving chastisement, shall be beaten with few. For to whom much is given, of him much will be required. And the more a man is entrusted with, the more will be demanded from him.

¹⁷ If you know these things, happy are you if you practise them.

¹³ For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;

¹⁸ Whosoever you are, let no one deceive himself. If am one among you seemeth to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.

⁹ Do you not know that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the voluptuous, nor sodomites,

³³ Be not led astray; "good morals are debauched by talk profane."

³ For if any one thinketh himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

⁷ Be not deceived. God is not to be imposed on; for whatever a man soweth, that he shall reap.

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are venerable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are friendly, whatsoever things are reputable, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think of these things,

¹⁷ Indeed whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the God and Father by him.

¹³ and wicked men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

³ For we, even we ourselves were formerly foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to divers lusts and pleasures living in malice and envy, objects of hatred, hating one another;

²⁶ If any one among you thinketh to be religious without bridling his tongue, he is but deceiving his heart. Such a one's religion is vain.

¹⁴ What is the advantage, my brethren, though one should say he hath belief, when he hath not works? Can that belief save him? ¹⁵ Suppose a brother or a sister be naked, or in want of daily food, ¹⁶ and one of you should say to them, go in peace: be warmed, and be fed to the full; and you do not give them the things necessary for the body, is this any advantage? ¹⁷ Just so it is in respect to this belief, if it hath not works; being by itself it is dead. ¹⁸ One indeed may say, thou hast belief, and I have works. Shew me thy belief by thy works. As for me, I will shew thee my belief by my works. ¹⁹ Thou believest that there is one God. Thou dost well. The demons also believe and tremble. ²⁰ But wouldst thou, vain man, know that belief without works is dead?

⁸ If we say that we have not sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

³ Now by this we know that we have known him, if we keep his commandments.

⁷ Children, let no one deceive you. He who practiseth righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous.

¹¹ Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who doth good is of God. But he who doth evil, hath not seen God.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out that old serpent who is called The Devil and Satan who leadeth the whole world astray. He was thrown on the earth and his angels were thrown with him.

⁷ Behold I am coming quickly. Happy he who keepeth the words of the prophecy of this book.
