² And again she brought forth his brother Abel. And Abel became a keeper of sheep, and Cain tilled the ground.

²³ So the Lord God sent him out of the garden of pleasure to till the ground out of which he was taken.

²⁵ And Adam knew Eve his wife and she conceived and brought forth a son and called his name Seth, saying, "For God hath raised up for me another seed in the place of Abel whom Cain slew." ²⁶ And Seth had a son; and he called his name Enos. He hoped that he would invoke the name of the Lord God.

²⁰ Now Noe being a husbandman, began and planted a vineyard,

²⁹ And Jacob said, Thou knowest what service I have done thee, and how many cattle belonging to thee are now with me. ³⁰ Thy stock was small before I came; but it is increased to a multitude, and the Lord hath blessed thee by my attendance. Now then, when shall I provide a house for myself. ³¹ And Laban said, What shall I give thee? To which Jacob replied, Thou shalt not give me any thing. If thou wilt do this for me, I will again feed thy flock and keep watch.

¹³ Israel said to Joseph, Are not thy brothers tending the flocks at Sychem? Come, let me send thee to them. And he said, I am ready.

³² but the men are shepherds; for their occupation hath been to feed cattle, and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have. ³³ If therefore Pharao send for you and say to you, What is your occupation? ³⁴ you will say, We thy servants are feeders of cattle from our youth even to this time, as well as our fathers; that you may dwell in Gesem-Arabia. For every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.

³ And Pharao said to Joseph's brothers, What is your occupation? and they said to Pharao, Thy servants are shepherds, both we and our fathers.

⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and bent upon executing the desires of your father. He was a manslayer from the beginning, and did .not abide in the truth. Because there is no truth in him, when he speaketh falsehood he speaketh what is. natural to him, for he is a liar, and the father of it.

¹⁰ By this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil. Whosoever doth not practise righteousness is not of God, nor he who doth not love his brother.

¹² and not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And why did he slay him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

¹⁵ Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer hath everlasting life abiding in him.
