¹⁶ redeeming the time. Because these are evil days,

¹⁹ In time of troubles they shall not be shamed, and in days of famine they shall be plentifully fed.

¹⁰ Whatever thy hand findeth to do, do it with all thy might; since there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge nor wisdom in the mansion of the dead to which thou must go.

² Give a portion to seven and even to eight; for thou knowest not what evil may be on the earth.

¹ Because youth and thoughtlessness is vanity, therefore remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth; before the evil days come and the years draw nigh in which thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.

¹³ therefore the prudent will at that time be silent because it is the time of wicked men.

³⁵ Jesus therefore said to them, Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light that the darkness may not overtake you; for he who walketh in darkness knoweth not where he is going.

²⁸ And one of them named Agabus rising up signified by the spirit that there would very soon be a great famine throughout the whole inhabited land, which accordingly came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar. ²⁹ Whereupon the disciples determined, every one according to his ability to send relief to the brethren who dwelt in Judea.

¹¹ Furthermore, as we know the season, that it is now high time for us to rouse from sleep, for our deliverance is nearer now than when we first believed:

²⁶ I think then this to be good on account of the impending distress; that it is well for a man to be as he is.

²⁹ and say this, brethren, that the time with regard to what remaineth, is shortened, so that they who have wives should be as if they had them not; ³⁰ and they who weep, as if they wept not; and they who rejoice, as if they rejoiced not; and they who buy, as not possessing; and they ³¹ who use this world, as not using it immoderately. For the scenery of this world is shifting;

⁴ who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,

¹⁰ As we therefore have an opportunity let us do good to all, but more especially to them who are of the household of faith.

¹³ take up therefore the complete armour of God, that you may be able to make resistance in the evil day, and having put a stop to them all, to maintain your ground.

¹⁵ and your feet shod with the preparation of the glad tidings of peace,

⁵ Walk in wisdom towards them who are without, redeeming the time.
